King Of Sports

Chapter 80

The referee said to the two: "Let"s have a clean fight, touch gloves and then back to your corners,

"One round remember, show me what you got." Gonzalez said.

Tang Yan smiled but didn"t speak.

After the two touched gloves, they quickly separated back to their corners.

Gonzalez was a typical slugger type, he had a heavy attack. His style was very lethal in the case of slower-moving boxers but more often he relied on defense to consume the physical strength of his opponent then he would counterattack.

Gonzalez was quite confident in his defense.

However this time he raised his guard and then slowly advanced towards Tang Yan, starting a tank-style attack.

It seemed that he really didn"t put Tang Yan in his eyes.

When he stepped forward, he punched out with a right jab.

Tang Yan bobbed his head out the way and threw out a left hook.

Tang Yan"s speed surprised him, despite the fact he was looking for it but he quickly extended his hand to block.

"Bam."

Tang Yan"s swinging fist hit Gonzalez"s hand, not waiting for him to breathe, a right hook followed. Gonzalez weaved under it and backed away.

Gonzalez was slightly startled and his arrogance disappeared. He became focused.

Tang Yan had gained experience and gotten fights under his belt and his offense was becoming more and more skillful over time.

Gonzalez put away his contemptuous heart and immediately transferred to his best. As someone who was able to reach the semi-final his strength was by no means bad.

Tang Yan saw Gonzalez take an even more defensive posture and his face became more intense. His punches didn"t connect with Gonzalez as he expected. He needed to feel out his opponent and look for gaps to capitalize on.

He launched forward with a left jab, Gonzalez blocked, he threw a right uppercut, Gonzalez sidestepped it, he came with a left hook Gonzalez weaved under it, with a right hook Gonzalez blocked it.

This continued for a while.

Gonzalez felt the pressure. Tang Yan was also beginning to feel wound up and discouraged.

When he went in for another left hook, Gonzalez ducked under it and launched a sharp right hook for a body shot which caught him cleanly before he could dodge.

With the air out of him, Tang Yan backed away anxiously, staring him down Gonzalez smiled but didn"t chase.

Tang Yan came back tentatively and launched a few probing jabs which Gonzalez blocked. Tang Yan forced him back slowly edging him towards the ropes with a continuous flow of punches.

Then suddenly picking up the pace he launched a cracking right towards his jaw, Gonzalez stepped back to dodge, right into the ropes.

Tang Yan leaped after him, pumping one, two, three powerful right-hand drives to his jaw, face and head. Gonzalez was rocked, stung and hurt.

But he lived through this storm, taking on punches and throwing a flurry of his own as he forced his way out. He hooked a left to Tang Yan"s body and swung a right which just grazed Tang Yan"s jaw as he jerked his head back in the nick of time.

Gonzalez moved out of the corner and made it back to the center.

Collecting himself, Tang Yan slid out to the center and cautiously advanced, the two stalked each other for a moment without attempting a blow. Tang Yan feinted with a left and Gonzalez stepped back. Gonzalez snarled a laugh and gestured him to come in and fight. Another flurry of punches and dodges occurred, with both moving closer as they traded rights to the body.

They were in close now, their arms moving like pistons. Glove thudded against flesh. Gonzalez head down, stood toe to toe with Tang Yan and neither gave a step. Tang Yan sank a long left below Gonzalez"s heart and stiffened his muscles to take the return blow. But suddenly — out of nowhere, it seemed — Gonzalez"s right swept up in a fierce arc that ended with Tang Yan"s jaw.

"Bam!"

Tang Yan was dropped straight down to the canvas.....

"Boom!"

"2"

Tang Yan blinked his eyes heavily, his head felt groggy and like it was spinning.

"3"

Hearing the referee"s count he struggled to focus. He grabbed the ropes and began climbing up.

"5"

At five he struggled to his feat and was back up. Blinking himself clear, he put up his guard.

Gonzalez was straight over with his right drawn back for the kill. But before he could strike, Tang Yan launched forward and smothered him in a flurry of blows — driving him back to the ropes with left and right, left and right, in a mad barrage against his chest, jaw and ribs. Twice — three times Gonzalez drove with his right but Tang Yan bopped his head out of the punches and forcefully took the body blows like he didn"t feel it.

He was in a zone of fury.

The scene burst into cheers. After all, it was his home ground.

"KO! KO!"

The exclamations calling for a knockout grew louder alongside his barrage of punches.

Gonzalez had self-confidence in his defense, he trained to take blows for the chance to launch powerful blows. But his arms, after continuously taking on Tang Yan"s blows were feeling pain and numbness that he hadn"t experienced for a long time till now.

If he stayed pa.s.sive, he would just be letting himself get pushed into a corner.

In desperation, he resisted two punches and then stepped forward and threw a right hook trying to break out of this suppressed situation.

Seeing Gonzalez"s move, Tang Yan didn"t retreat and directly rushed in front of Gonzalez, he took the right hook to the body and threw a left uppercut.

Gonzalez was shocked. He didn"t expect Tang Yan to be so desperate. He wanted to fight back but it was too late, and he could only attempt to hastily dodge.

"Boom!"

The heavy punch hit Gonzalez in the chest.

Gonzalez"s face was instantly white, he threw a left jab to force distance as he tried to retreat.

However, this rushed counterattack was of no use.

Tang Yan side stepped it and chased.

He threw a punch at the chest of Gonzalez. It hit just a little under his heart.

Gonzalez felt a sharp pain in his chest.

He wanted to cough, but soon he found that he had no strength, and then his whole person fell softly to the boxing ring.

After falling to the ground, his whole mouth was wide and there was a feeling like he couldn"t breathe.

The audience under the ring looked at this scene in wonder, was this a... KO?

The referee saw this scene and rushed to see his situation. When he saw that something was wrong, he immediately waved to the ring side.

Since the precedent of Singer, the medical staff was already prepared, seeing this scene they slid into the ring holding an oxygen tank.

Gonzalez was first hit in the chest, and then by the heart, he was down wheezing and gasping for air.

After a while, the medical staff finally got his breathing under control and helped Gonzalez out of the ring.

At this time, the referee"s emotions were incomprehensible.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead and walked over to raise Tang Yan"s hand and signaled him as the winner.

"Tang Yan, Tang Yan , Tang Yan Boxing killer! Tang....Boxing killer, Boxing killer, Boxing killer!"

The moment when Tang Yan"s hand was lifted, the audience began to cheer for Tang Yan loudly. It was unknown who started it but slowly the chant changed and he was given a sinister t.i.tle.

Tang Yan enjoyed the cheers of the people, and his whole person had a feeling of lightness.

Sure enough, boxing was a thrilling sport, he was high on adrenaline.

This kind of cheering scene was much more refres.h.i.+ng than in archery.

The next step, as long as he defeats his final opponent, he would be able to get a place for the Asian Games.
