Lillie Bai, at age sixteen, caused a tremendous change in her father"s company and made a name for herself. An acting CEO, was her role. But, everyone from the Business World knew for a certain that the position as CEO is indisputable that made everyone who eyed the CEO seat of White Phoenix Empire clench their jaws in annoyance. How could a mere sixteen year old girl beat them? She"s not even finished high school for G.o.d"s sake!
And one of the people who fell for greed and temptation for power, is non other than Lillie"s childhood friend, Yu Mei.
Yu Mei was a bright girl. She attends a prestigious school along with her friend Lillie, who was known as Theodora Crevier, the Student Council President.
Every students from the academy envied Yu Mei for being friends with the most popular and smartest girl in school.
It caused Yu Mei to feel special and that made her arrogant and addicted for more attention. She really felt upset when Lillie and her family told her to never reveal who Lillie really was.
If everyone knew that she"s friends with Lillie Bai and was close to the Bai family"s main branch, people would be flocking on her way as if she was a G.o.ddess.
Even with the attention coming towards her for being Theodora"s friend, non of it satisfied her, none of it made her happy. She knew they were just being nice to her because of Theodora (Lillie). They would approach her to talk about Theodora and ask her how to be friends with her. Boys from other schools would search for her just to know what Theodora liked.
Yu Mei was just a bridge, a tool to get to their beloved President.
"I"m so sick of this!" Yu Mei screamed, throwing a file of paper on Lillie"s desk in the Student Council room. Yu Mei begged Lillie to make the students vote for her as Vice-president but she only manage to swoop in the secretary position.
Lillie averted her gaze from the laptop and to her scowling friend, "What seem to make you so angry?"
Yu Mei had an ugly expressions and glared at her. "Those d.a.m.n cla.s.s reps won"t stop pestering me with their d.a.m.n applications for the incoming festivities! Do I look like I care if it"s approved or not?!" She complained, insults flew out of her like rain.
A frown marred Theodora"s face as the insolent words reached her ears.
"You are part of the Student Council, thus it is your job to see through it and give it to me for approval." She sternly instructed.
"Whatever, I hate this freaking job."
"You asked for it."
"I asked for the Vice-president!" Yu Mei loudly complained. She flinched when Theodora slammed her palm on her wooden desk.
"The higher the position, the greater the responsibility. Seeing how you act as the Secretary, it"s clear to me that you are not responsible enough for any position, to what more, the Vice-president." Lillie saw how Yu Mei"s expression turned red from anger before deflating into sadness.
"I just wanted to do something...important...than being caught up by something unworthy of my capabilities." Yu Mei mumbled incoherently but Lillie understood some. Lillie felt bad for her friend but, she had done everything make her happy. Sadly, it doesn"t seem enough.
Suddenly, an idea popped in Yu Mei"s mind.
"Your dad"s company is doing a new project, right?" This caused Lillie"s eyebrows to furrow in confusion.
"What of it?"
"Let me help you!"
"No."
Since Lillie"s refusal, Yu Mei had done nothing but make Lillie"s days in the academy...quite troublesome. Her resilience was impressive, Lillie admitted.
Nevertheless, Yu Mei had been the first person—save for her family—to ever break Lillie"s patience. Her constant nagging, begging, crying and even threatening to self-harm had drove Lillie to her bottomline.
"Fine! Be at my office at six in the morning. If you"re late even by a second, forget working with me." A grin made its way of Yu Mei"s lips in triumph.
Impressed was an understatement, Lillie was astonished by Yu Mei"s hard work. She followed everything she said, finished everything she asked her to finish. Heck, she even helped some of the employees with theirs!
Lillie was proud of her. She was happy that her friend finally matured. It seems she only needed the right task for her to be this industrious.
Unfortunately, things didn"t last long for Lillie to comprehend what was really happening. She underestimated Yu Mei"s craftiness.
