So the next couple of days pa.s.sed with no further incidents. There were no calls from either Snow or Hayato. Linri even started to believe that they were not going to be answering him at all. That in itself was kind of a learning experience. Like this, he found out that, even if he knows the greatest desires of a person, they might not be able to trust him anyway. Probably they thought it would be akin to making a deal with the devil... wait, does that make him the devil? I mean yeah, he was kind of evil, but not that much... Right?Still, even if he didn"t get an answer yet, Linri was happy. He was busy with training with his father and relaxing by reading books, at this point he wasn"t even sure that he wanted to break into a secret government facility and risk his life. Of course, as per Murphy"s Law, the moment he thought like that both of them needed to call. I don"t know really, it"s like this is a universal rule, like public transport arriving the moment you light your cigarette.
Hayato had said that he will be part of this plan. He had also talked with the other mercenaries and convinced them to come in 2 days. He also stated that, after they were done, he didn"t want the data and, instead, they were to destroy it without any of them making any copies, himself included. That was also good news as Linri was really scared that he would sell it to another country so he counted himself lucky that Hanawa tortured him so much that he would turn a blind eye to the profit.
The talk with Snow, on the other hand, was a bit more tricky. She gave him an address and a date. It was obvious that Sarah wanted to meet with him, but he did not want to talk with her. He didn"t know anything about her aside from the fact that she was Kris" mom, yet that was nothing he could use. It only showed that she possessed motherly instincts, but hey: which female doesn"t? Maybe there was also the fact that she would do anything for the knowledge considering she was working for the government secretly and even made an artificial human with her own DNA. That means she must be a little bit on the mad scientist side... Then again: she was friends with Snow, so that was pretty self-explanatory.
The meeting was tonight so he didn"t even have time to prepare for unexpected situations. He couldn"t even formulate a flow of conversation in his mind. The woman was crazy enough to go against the government: who is to say that she wouldn"t shoot him on the spot if she didn"t like his answers and thought he was a German spy or something? Maybe he should bring someone with him and, since he was keeping secrets, the obvious choice was Jaime. I mean, Hayato was thinking he already had the plans and his mom and dad were still in the dark about his abilities even though Linri was sure that they knew. They were just waiting for him to come clean and, considering the situation, even if he took the risk of changing the future, they were definitely not going to approve of this.
So, Jaime it is then! BUT WAIT! It will be annoying to explain to her all of this and she is definitely going to nag him about keeping her in the dark and how dangerous it was etc. Worst of all, she is gonna want to come along. Just the thought of it sent s.h.i.+vers down his spine. It was despicable to admit it, but Linri was thinking of deserting everyone and running away on his own if anything goes south. He couldn"t do that to her... I mean, he could, but then the guilt would be overwhelming. At that point, it would be better if he just died. So Jaime is a no go too. Then who else does he know?... Oh no! Does he gonna have to ask help from "her"?!
Well, she was the only one remaining and he wouldn"t really feel sad if he was to abandon her in there. Thinking about it she was also one of the people in the original rooster of the heist, but he had to change his mind because of Alina"s attachment to her. But, if he did include her, there was a 90% chance that Alina would tear him into shreds when she found out... or more like "if" she found out. Well, I guess we are going with her then. Also, since she is an orphan, maybe she can also connect with the mad scientist? Thinking about it, she was currently a mother with a child that she wants to protect and "she" was also a child, right?
Currently, Linri was standing in front of the orphanage, talking with the Sister. It was hard convincing her, but eventually, he was able to make her cave in. That was when a chirpy sound came behind him.
"h.e.l.lo, Big Brother! How are you?"
"h.e.l.lo, Brie."
