Section 5: Genuine and Sham Information
The right shoulder to abdomen of Gu Die Lijier seems to be sliced open by an invisible knife. The flesh on her right arm and her small b.r.e.a.s.t.s suddenly collapses from her body like a landslide after a hurricane. The guts and intestines on the right half of her abdomen splatters out after it. Her vision is murky, it is clear that her life force is disappearing from her body at high speed, yet the smile remains on her face. Her complexion is as pale as joss paper, “What I’m happy about is that, hehe……hehehehehe……” The blood surging from her throat causes her words to become unclear. From her abdomen, another two internal organs roll out, unclear of which they are, they splatter onto the frozen ground. The air is filled with a suffocating sanguinary stench, “What I’m happy about is that……today, everyone is going to die here.” Her legs suddenly break into four or five portions. Out of nowhere, a few short flashes of thin light appear, Lijier’s whole body falls to the ground like rubble. A layer white misty sweet stench transpires from the chunks of body parks, floating above the frozen ground. Her long, long hair is soaked in her blood and innards. Her skull is currently perched atop the broken pieces of her corpse, it’s still speaking, it looks of an unspoken terror, “What came isn’t Bing Mo…… it’s ‘Cang Xue Zhi Ya’ (lit. Teeth of the snow of dusk)…… the information we were given, they are all wrong……”
After saying that, her skulls cracks open from the middle, her two eyeb.a.l.l.s exploding into two resplendent ice flowers.
A constant sharp shattering sound resonates from behind them. It sounds like a pillar of ice being shattered.
Shen Yin and Qi Ling turns their heads back through their fright to see a large and shining crowd of icicles exploding out from Kins’ chest, as if a man-eating flower that’s blooming with menace, the sharp and tough petals are squeezing out from his chest, guts and intestines, they hang steaming on the ice, after a while, they turn into ice.
[West of Aslan Empire - Heart]
The last time Yin Chen walked into this large architecture known as the ‘Heart’, it had been three years ago.
Three years has pa.s.sed and nothing has changed here. Not a single person knows how long this mysterious palace has existed. The entire building is constructed at the peak of the mountain. Compared to the endless buildings of the imperial capital at the foot of the mountain, this palace has an indescribable air of mystery to it. This is because there is no window at all throughout the entire palace. It is as if the entire palace consists of three buildings carved from one colossal grey rock. The sharp roofs of each forming three triangles, extending into the clouds. On the flat part of the roof, there is a garden in the air, surrounded by the three sharp pinnacles. The tips of the towers seem to pierce through the blue skies, attracting the infinite magnetic field of soul powers. As if there is an invisible thunder storm.
This structure is known as the Heart of the imperial capital of Gelanerte. It sits ma.s.sively and volatile on the peak at the dead center of the imperial capital.
Within a one-mile radius of its location, there is close to no ordinary people.
All citizens live along the foot of the mountain; the whole city is centred around the Heart and bloom outwards.
It is the center where the imperial household lives. It represents the tip of the top of Gelanerte, the few sharp pointed roofs are often shrouded in the clouds. Occasionally there will be large birds flying past. The resonant G.o.dly music comes from the array of chimes and copper flutes resting on the three towers. Every morning, a beautiful melody like euphemistic poetry envelops the whole of Gelanerte. The citizens wake up in the melody an the city becomes bustling and lively.
Yet only very few know that, the real center of the imperial capital is under the surface of the Heart. Under the triangular foundation is a deep underground maze. Compared to the lavish appearance of the construction atop the ground, the style of the underground maze is mysterious and ancient. It seems to be a relic left behind from the age of the G.o.ds.
And at this very moment, Yin Chen is at the deepest part of this underground labyrinth.
The depth of this place is known as the ‘Cloister of the Cross’.
Yin Chen walks in the middle of a deep and serene cloister. On the two sides are rock walls dating back eons, the patterns are quaint and clumsy. The walls extend so high up that the roof cannot be seen. Blue light seeps in from the thin crack above his head. Beneath his feet is a long stretch of water. There are rock steps on the water. The water beneath the steps seem bottomless and the light does not seem to penetrate through the still surface of the water. The entire territorial waters seem abnormally back, even more dark than ink.
Yin Chen walks along the cloister. The s.p.a.ce is overly large and his footsteps echoes. Every time he enters the Cloister of the Cross, it is as if he walked into a deep valley. The oppressive silence in the air constants a sense of dignity that makes it hard to breathe.
The waters end when he steps onto the last rock. After a few more steps, the ground becomes flat.
A crossroad appears before Yin Chen.
On the left, right and front of the crossroad are each one corridor. At the end of these corridors are all large stone doors that each lead to three vast rooms.
--It is in these empty rooms that the fate of the entire Aslan is decided.
Yin Chen turns left at the crossroad, choosing the room situated on the left.
He stands before the stone door. The heavy door opens gradually and a chilly breeze greets him. Yin Chen walks into the room. The stone door seals shut with a bang behind him.
The room is a standard rectangle. The walls on the left and right are both very neat. It is the wall before him that is inlaid with two grand statues. These statues face the wall. Their head, arms and knees are all melted into the walls, looking like two giants who are kneeling fance down and drowned in knee-high water. The whole piece of wall is constructed of pre-historic crystal with no cracks; the barren ground of the hall is made up of this one piece of crystal. No one will doubt that this is the strength of G.o.d, because there is no human strength that can cut and create such large a piece of crystal ground in its entirety and at the same time inlaying two statues of such proportions.
If you look closely, you will be able to see that from the surface of the crystal the as deep as the eye can see, glowing veined patterns are cared into it, these are all secrets of the soul powers pa.s.sed down from ancient times.
And the ones who know the secrets, are the three ‘Silver Priests’ of this country.
The three of them seem to have been here since construction of this underground palace — their life is an eternal mystery, no one knows how long they’ve lived, even to the point that no one knows if their existence is considered to be living or dead. Of course, no one knows when they started to exist here and no one knows why they are trapped in this crystal wall.
They exist in the fear of people for tens of thousands of years.
Between the two large rock statues and in the depths of the crystal. One Silver Priest is stagnated in the crystal like an insect inlaid in amber. It is the same situation in the other two rooms. The only difference is the the priest on the room to the right is female. Two male and one female. They are the highest deities of Aslan. They are cladded in a unique outfit, something akin to armour of battle, but they look softer and more flowy than armours. It is also not entirely the dressing style of Aslan. Only their four arms and head are not covered – yes, they each have four hands. The priest before Yin Chen has a pair clasped before him and another pair spread at the sides of his body, as if feeling sympathetic of this world. Perhaps it has been too long, their faces seem to be part of the crystals, translucent and without flaws, the three identical faces seem to be made of crystal, their eyes are shut tightly, they are expressionless, sleeping in the depths of the crystal. No one knows how thick or deep this crystal goes, underneath them, if you keep looking down, it becomes dimmer until it finally becomes a pitch-black abyss.
Two male priests, one female priest.
They wear n.o.ble yet complex outfits, coupled with their G.o.dly appearance; forever frozen in the three crystal rooms at the end of the Cloister of the Cross.
Yin Chen moves forward a few steps before kneeling.
A voice drifts out of nowhere and fills the whole hall.
Yin Chen listens intently with his head down, he knows that this miraculous voice is from the Silver Priest.
“Yin Chen, you must set off now and head to a small town known as Fauser at the west of the Aslan Empire. You will find a youth named Qi Ling.”
“Okay. Do I need to bring him back to the Heart?”
“You must, because he is your ‘Disciple’.”
Yin Chen remains silent for a while before replying with no expression. “Okay, I will set off now.”
The airy voice sounds again, “Although Fauser is a small town far from the center of soul powers, but you must not let down your guard, for Cang Xue Zhi Ya also made its appearance at Fauser.”
Yin Chen lifts his head, surprise evident on his face. The winged lion beasts of ice live together in colonies of over thousands, and the head of them is known as Cang Xue Zhi Ya. However, how is it possible that a soul beast of such high level will appear Fauser that is almost at the edge of soul powers?
However, the Silver Priest does not continue.
Yin Chen lowers his head and questions no more.
A faint light glows from the priest’s body that is in deep slumber in the depths of the crystal.
As if something grand is slowly opening.
