Life As A Servant

Chapter 79

"Is he for real?"

One of the onlookers questioned himself as he heard Bin"s serious tone. The youth didn"t seem to be joking around as he waved around his card which showed that he only had 1 million won.

The veiled woman creased her brows and looked at Bin for some time before calmly saying

"Since it"s your first time, you won"t have to pay the losing fee."

Even though he heard that, Bin remained suspicious, thinking that she"ll demand all of his money if he guesses incorrectly.

"Really?" With a suspicious tone, he uttered that word, his body movements indicating that he didn"t quite believe her.

Almost everyone witnessing this was shocked as it"s the first time they saw someone question the truthfulness of the woman. She was known for always keeping her word yet an unknown newbie was acting hesitant and so protective of his card as if she was going to steal it.

From under the half-transparent black veil, the woman"s lips twitched as she looked at Bin, who truly felt that her abrupt kindness may be a scam.

"Do not worry, I promise you that you won"t have to pay anything if you lose in the first round."

Bin, who heard her earnest voice, became slightly excited as he asked again:

"And what"s the prize?"

The crowd gasped in shock as he heard him brazenly ask that. He wanted the prize before even winning or trying to win. It made some people look at him this newbie in a negative way, one of those people was this woman, who regretted inviting Bin to play.

"You"re exempt from the losing fee so the prize will be changed." She glanced at his card then continued: "3 Million."

The spectators found it reasonable that the prize was drastically lowered as it"s Bin"s first time, however, the servant thought otherwise. That sum of money can solve many things for Bin and it"ll make him a step closer to guaranteeing a good future for Mina, his little sister.

The youth wearing a Phoenix"s mask nodded his head and signaled for the woman to begin. The crowd snorted at Bin"s fake confidence and weird actions yet they remained where they were, excited to see him lose miserably, like every other newbie before him.

The woman showed the coin to Bin and made him stare at it for a fair amount of time before she elegantly threw it in the air. The moment the gold danced in the air, the woman"s hands became blurry as they either circled around the coin or caught it then let it go. The process took merely five or six seconds but her amazing demonstration made it seem much longer.

Usually, the woman would move her hands while her eyes focused on the customers, however, this time, she became shocked as she saw Bin"s closed eyes. He literally closed them and chose to feel the location of the coin with his body, which is very sensitive to Mana.

Seeing such an unexpected sight, the woman frowned but didn"t say anything as she stepped her game and prolonged the process by a bit more but the youth didn"t open his eyes at all. When the slight wind breezes caused by her fast movements disappeared, Bin slowly opened his eyes and saw two closed fists, one empty and the other containing the coin.

For the first time in a long time, the woman felt a little nervous because such a dumb tactic was never used by any of her customers. They all would try to meticulously follow the gold coin then guess where they are.

They respected her "little game" and closing their eyes in front of such a unique show is disrespectful and a waste of their time.

Contrary to the woman"s expectation, this wasn"t Bin"s tactic. He could focus better with his eyes closed as the rapidly-moving hands would disorient him.

"Please choose a hand."

Bin saw her stare at him from under the veil while saying that. Everyone expected him to choose wrongly, like his predecessors but the reality was different. In fact, even the woman, who tried harder than ever, was certain that he"ll choose the wrong hand.

Resolutely and without any hesitation, Bin said: "Left hand."

He spent less than ten seconds thinking before uttering his answer. The crowd snickered and looked at the woman, who let out a sigh and opened her right hand, revealing to the spectators that it was surprisingly empty.

Then, very slowly, the left hand opened and revealed a golden coin.

Bin smiled and handed his card to the woman, whose gaze lingered on him for a long time. Only after he waved the card in front of her face did she snap out of it and transfer money from to him.

The youth appeared very happy as he looked at the number displayed at the card. It all seemed like a dream but the whispering crowds around him a.s.sured him that this is definitely the reality.

Without giving a second look to the woman, he turned around and was about to leave only for the woman to interrupt him:

"Wait."

His steps halted and his head turned around, slightly tilting to the side, not knowing what she wants.

"Is she perhaps a sore loser? F*ck! What if she wants her money back?!"

Bin inwardly panicked and decided to end things quickly so he could leave this room as soon as possible.

"How about another round?"

"No thanks."

The woman could"ve sworn that she never saw anyone leave the room as fast as he has. Nevermind walking, it felt like he was running at full speed. Even his answer could barely be heard as he said it when he was in the midst of "walking" out of this place.
