After Arima left the princ.i.p.al"s office, he tried to understand the map of this academy. It was actually pretty big, with a main building and tens of annexes, big and small. His a.s.signed cla.s.sroom was in the main building, the latter was simple to find but the cla.s.sroom was harder to spot.
"Why do they cla.s.sify them with a letter, a number and then the topic of the cla.s.s? It"s a mess" Arima complained. Night and Lanya were also looking at the map, trying to understand.
While they were walking in the corridors, every student they pa.s.sed by would start to mumble together. Of course, it didn"t pa.s.s unnoticed by Arima.
The latter expression darkened "School, one of the most dangerous things here is" He paused "…gossip" He said and looked around. The students were trying to avoid his eyes for some reason.
Arima sighed and approached a certain group, the only one who actually didn"t look away "Hey, kids, can you tell me where is this cla.s.s?" He showed them the number of the room on the doc.u.ment.
One of the girls looked at the number and thought for a second before smiling "I can bring you there if you want" She said
"Thanks, that would help a lot" Arima smiled and responded. He followed that student and arrived in front of a certain door in the corridor. And the first thing he saw was a huge gathering of students beside it.
The girl who brought him here smiled wryly "It"s your cla.s.sroom. You are the new teacher hired by the academy after all, and because you"re a Z rank, a lot of people are interested in you" She said.
Arima shrugged "Okay, thanks for leading the way" He said and vanished from his position and reappeared inside the cla.s.sroom. Fortunately, the room in itself was closed until the teacher opened it, if it wasn"t then it would be full of students already.
Lanya saw Arima teleport and smiled at the girl "Bye" She said and also teleported.
The student looked at her until she disappeared "She was pretty" She commented just after and then smiled "Still, they could teleport so easily, that means they"re really strong" She said with excitement.
Arima observed the cla.s.s and thought it was pretty normal, elevated seats for the students, a desk and a board for the teacher. Just that the board wasn"t black, but blue. Maybe you were supposed to write on it with mana.
"So, you will start now?" Lanya asked with a smile and Night jumped on the desk.
"Before, that" Arima approached a book shelf in the room, he looked through it "It"s all manuals, to be honest I don"t think they"re useful in any way, but I need to see what they are learning" He said and took the first book "I"ll do it fast"
He flipped all the pages of the book he had in his hands, at the same time, his sigil shined. He did that for all the one hundred or so books there was here.
After he finished, he rubbed his temples "Overexerting my brain is not a good idea" He commented and went toward the door of the cla.s.sroom "Lanya you can sit everywhere you want, you wanted to a.s.sist the lecture, right? That"s why you were so excited" Arima said to Lanya.
The latter smiled and went to sit on the side of the room, ready to listen. All the time, she only had been taught by Night and it"s not like she had received a full lecture, so she was excited. Night just laid down on the table and closed his eyes.
Arima breathed in and opened the door, he then directly went back to his desk and waited. In no time, when the first person realized the door was open, the students started "pouring" inside.
When every seat was full, the rest sat down on the ground or stayed standing. While others listened from outside. Arima saw that Ofia and Lena tranquilly entered the room and sat in the front row like it was normal.
Arima sighed "Okay" He sat down on his desk "I will present myself, I"m Arimane Blade, call me Arima. This little guy here is Night Bahamut, my soul beast" Arima pointed at Night who was already half-asleep.
"As you may already know, I"m a Z rank merc approved by the guild and I"m here to teach in this cla.s.s for two months from now on" Arima smiled "As to what I will teach, most of it was left to my desires. But basically, I will teach you how to fight" He said
All the students listening to him, concentrated to their maximum. They felt like his way of talking resonated strongly within them. They wanted to listen more.
"For now, since it"s my first lecture, I will teach you a really simple thing" Arima resumed "Let me ask you, what is the most important thing in a fight?"
A male student raised his hand first "It"s physical apt.i.tude" He said directly and Arima chuckled.
"No" He smiled and responded "Who else?" He then looked around one more time.
A girl raised her hand his time "The mana pool"s quality?"
Arima shook his head "No, what you are telling me right now, is not the most important thing in a fight. You are talking about what you use in a fight" He said and waved his hand toward the book shelf. A few manuals flew toward him and started hovering in the air in front of him.
The pages of those books started flipping alone, the students admired the scene silently. Then, each book stopped at one page at the same time. The things depicted in those pages were things like physical strength, control of aura, mind strengthening, mana pool, close combat techniques and more.
"These are things you learn to win a fight" Arima said "Let me rephrase my question then, what do you need to be able to fight?" He asked
This time, Ofia raised her hand "To fight, one needs resolution" She said and Arima smiled.
"You"re getting really close, but what you just said is too general and can"t be said in every situation" Arima said and Ofia became a bit surprised.
At one point, a student in the crowd raised his hand "To fight, you need the will to win and the fearlessness before pain and death" He said with a dull voice "You also need the resolve to kill" He added.
All the students looked at him in shock and started slandering him for saying such things. Only a few of them didn"t raise their voices and silently fell in thought, Ofia and her sister were part of them.
Arima glanced at the boy and smirked "Correct" He said and the mouths of every kid in the room instantly closed. Arima flicked his fingers and returned the books in the shelf.
"Do you know what is the main reason why people die in their first fights?" Arima suddenly asked "Besides inexperience, they could also be like you, having been taught in school how to fight, then why would they die so easily?" He continued
"Here, they teach you how to fight, but they don"t teach you what it is to fight" Arima smiled "Most of you, when you come to face a threat to your life for the first time, you will be scared, of course, that"s the same for everyone" He said "But, when people start a fight in that condition, they will tend to choose escape more easily and forget about eliminating the threat. And that"s the moment where you realize you lack the will to win and the mental fort.i.tude against pain and death" Arima slowly explained.
"Now, the example I just said was just in the case where you stumble upon an enemy with a minimum of strength, almost capable of matching yours. But there"s also cases where the enemy is so weak compared to you that you"ll kill him without worrying at all. The problem with that, later, when you will need to fight an opponent as strong as you, you will maybe fear what one of his strikes could do to you, and will be unfocused, then die because of a stupid mistake" Arima kept talking, calmly and the clearer possible.
"Now, what I want you to remember of that is simple. You need to always reinforce your mind and self-control, and when you"ll fight a true enemy, remember to never flee, even if you die" Arima finished by saying that sternly and the students gulped.
Arima stood up just after "Fine, now, I will set a schedule and some rules" He said "This was my first lecture so I let you in as much you wanted. From now, I will set a cla.s.s every hour, the number will not pa.s.s forty each time" He said "One student can only come once a day, don"t try to challenge my memory. The only ones excepted of those rules are you six" Arima pointed at six students, two of them were Lena and Ofia, the dull guy who answered right, plus three others which had an extremely good att.i.tude and reactions in the lecture "These six are the ones that left the biggest impression" Arima explained.
"Also, last thing, for one month I"ll keep doing some general lectures like this one, but after that, I"ll take a cla.s.s with students that I picked myself to make them partic.i.p.ate in the ranking compet.i.tion, two months from now on" He said and started leaving the room "All that I said, will start since tomorrow, it will begin at 8 am, don"t be late. I"m sure someone already recorded my lecture with a crystal, spread it, the ones accepted in my cla.s.s will be the ones that watched this lecture once" He said as a last instruction and left the room. Lanya and Night followed him out.
The students left looked agape at the empty s.p.a.ce, they only started to move a few minutes later, they wanted to spread the word into the whole academy. While other wanted to directly start to work on their mental fort.i.tude.
As expected, the same day, the video of Arima"s lecture became viral. Every student was deeply impressed by the confidence and consistence in that lecture. The others teachers also were deeply surprised that a mercenary could teach that well.

Meanwhile, Arima directly teleported back to the Inn, he thought of the first day at the FD as a way to "launch" things. Coincidently, not long after he came back, Jerio arrived and gave him a small safe made of trinite coated with adamant.i.te.
Arima received it and opened it barehanded, without the key Jerio was going to give him. The latter looked agape at the safe Arima gave him back, after taking out a folder from inside, it was the first time he ever saw someone destroy coated trinite with just physical strength.
Arima took the doc.u.ment and flipped through it for a moment "Your impressions?" Night asked while being in Lanya"s embrace, yeah, sometimes she would do that.
"Well, if the creators of this and the soul summoning are the same person, the he"s truly a genius. This manufacture method is basically teaching how to give sentience to an inanimate object" Arima said after finishing the whole thing.
"That"s impressive" Night said.
"But how do you do that, what could allow an inanimate object to suddenly become a life form" Lanya asked perplexed.
"The fundamental is basically similar to the soul summoning, but because you can"t use your soul on anything, with this method, we"re using our spirit and mind" Arima started explaining "First, we need to enchant the material in a particular way, it has to be able to circulate mana in itself, like blood in the veins. Then after that, you set an array to link that mana into a single place, you can call it a core or the heart itself. Then, the last step, is injecting your spirit into the core and create yourself he personality of the object. It"s like programming an IA" Arima said
"And that last part is very hard and tricky, if you have a bad vision of certain emotions or things, that is transmitted to the object then it"s over. The latter is born to hate that particular thing and could lead to a disaster" Arima said and stored the doc.u.ment.
"That"s something" Night commented and Lanya nodded.
"Well, I think it could be useful actually, I have an idea on what using this method, just that it will be a lot more different actually" Arima said and grinned.
