Chapter 3: Awakening on the First Battle

Chapter 3: Awakening on the First Battle

Pendragon, Base of the North Heaven Knights, Edinburgh Castle.

This was a towering iron castle mightily standing on top of an impenetrable thousand foot cliff. The castle in itself stood five hundred feet high, built above an ancient Celtic castle, reinforced and strengthened with numerous layers of concrete. The castle was like an iron king sitting on top a majestic throne.

The castle was heavily fortified by magic and strengthened by multiple enchantments. It can withstand even the heavily artillery barrage of Viking battleships. The walls were equipped with thousands of Photon Cannons which drew electricity from the town during a battle. Its barrage of artillery was overwhelmingly terrifying and can cover the sky and earth. It can easily pulverize thousands of Viking warships. With 60,000 cavalry ships stored within the mechanical storehouses, the knights rode in these high powered small gunboats which possess powerful and mighty firepower.

This was the main base of the North Heaven Knights and was heavily guarded. More than 100,000 knights were always stationed, fending off the invading enemies all year round.

In the afternoon, the young Arthur walked through the castle"s iron corridor with great difficulty towards his master"s dorm. As a knight’s a.s.sistant, he should have lived in the knight’s dormitory, as to easily facilitate their masters when enemies attacked. However, his master disliked and felt disgusted of this uncouth youth. The knight deliberately arranged for the youth to live in a separate living quarters and summons the youth only when needed. To this, the youth"s heart can not help but have sense of dissatisfaction, everytime his master dispatched for him, Arthur had to endure walking for a long distance.

"Master, I am back.” Arthur walked into the room and bowed in courtesy.

"I didn"t expect you to come back safely. Your life is hard to kill.” Although the knight looked at him in contempt, it till couldn’t hide the ashtonished look in his face.

"Your great blessing is with me everytime I’m in danger. Escaping from the mouth of a dragon was nothing out of the ordinary.” Arthur said quietly.

"Hahaha ….. you have a glib mouth." The knight said while wiping his shiny beautiful armor, "Did you pick up anything?"

"These." Arthur pretended to kneel down, and taking out the scale of the dragon, he handed it before the knight, "This fell from the body of the Firelight Ablaze Dragon. With it you can prove that you had encountered the great dragon. "

"And also proves you are a f.u.c.king coward." The youth added in his heart.

"Idiot!" The knight angrily dropped the armor and wiped off his hands. He raised his hands and slapped the youth"s face, "Encountered? Do you think that encountering the dragon has any use? They must know I fought the dragon and won!!!!! Go back in there!!!! Bring me the dragon"s head, a huge chunk of the dragon"s breastplate, the dragon"s horns, or its claws. Do you think this measly scale can prove anything!!!?"

"Please young master, it is a hard and difficult thing to do. Even the young master was not able to hurt the dragon, how could the poor me win against that monster? " Regardless as blood flowed from his mouth, Arthur still gave a look of innocence.

(I dare you to get it yourself!!!!)

"Your words are full of thorns today kid." The knight unhappily said. He felt it was meaningless to talk with this idiot anymore. "Take this useless scale as your souvenir. Just keep your mouth closed. Do not let anyone know what happened today, otherwise…."

The youth asked furthermore, "Young master would you not take this? Look at this unusual flaming red color, maybe it will be useful in creating other things."

"Shut up!!! How can you dumb brat understand what magic is." The knight disdainfully retorted.

(You are really hopeless.)

Arthur secretly sneered. He took out a Light Sabre from his backpack and said, "Young master, I also found this one."

"Ah, you picked it up? I knew I had dropped it pretty badly. Isn"t it broken?" The knight asked in surprise.

"Look at it, young master." Arthur clenched the Light Sabre and turned on the sword switch. Instantly, a ray of light emerged from the hilt, illuminating the whole room with a radiant green color.

However, the knight was not satisfied, "How did the body of this blade become so pitifully short? A full one third short than it used to be!!"

"I think this is what young master was talking about. It definitely took some damage." Arthur put on a stupid look and quietly said, "I can still take it to the workshop to have it repaired. "

"No no no!" The knight quickly stopped, "Hide it, sell it, I don"t care, just take the useless thing away. Then go to the workshop and tell them that I lost my Light Sabre during combat. I want to be equipped with a more powerful Light Sabre. I will find methods to apply for one to the top."

"But young master, this sword can still be used—-"

"This cheap s.h.i.t could not even pierce a dragonscale, even if it can be used, I still won"t sully my hands with that trash" Shouted the knight.

(I tricked this dumba.s.s.)

Arthur was silent for a moment. Utterly sorry in the surface, but his heart was ecstatic, "Young master, I see. Tomorrow I will go to the workshop and report the loss."

"Good. You can go rest." The knight said.

Two hours later, in a small living quarters,

These spare living quarters were arranged for those who were useless to become a knight"s a.s.sistant and people working with filthy jobs. The living quarters was small and stinks but it was without any supervision from any knight. Thus one can live freely and at ease.

A youth was sitting on a dirty bed fiddling with a machinery.

He was calibrating the Light Sabre with some additional spare parts of a cavalry ship. Once the Light Sabre parts were disa.s.sembled, polished, and replaced with parts of a cavalry ship, its appearance was altered. No one would recognize that this was once a weapon only a.s.signed for North Heaven Knights

"Stealing a knight"s blade is a capital offense of a death penalty. Are you sure to die this early?" A voice suddenly said.

Arthur"s heart suddenly stopped beating, he turned his head and suddenly exclaimed, "Lancelot? Don"t you dare sneak up behind my back again!"

"Sneak up? I watched you work for almost an hour already!" The blonde youth called Lancelot said, "Were you really so concentrated on your work that you did not notice me at all? Is this even the usual Arthur?"

Arthur looked back at his roomate and friend. Lancelot had beautiful hair and a handsome face, completely incompatible with his flitly servant clothes. An unsuspecting person would expect that this boy should be a playboy son of a wealthy Knight family just disguising himself as a servant in order to do pranks or create trouble.

Compared to the bland appearance of Arthur, such handsome appearance made Arthur ashamed to show his own face. However, it was also because of Lancelot’s unusual appearance that no knight would dare employ him as an a.s.sistant even after the base bought him from the market. The knights were afraid of the unknown background of this kid. If this kid came from an overthrown royal family, there would be trouble in the future. Thus, Lancelot does all sorts of ch.o.r.es for the Knight Squadron. He was earning less salary than Arthur, not knowing how many years he need to work in order to pay back his freedom.

Arthur sighed and sincerely said to his friend, "This is very important to me, this is the first time I really own a Light Sabre."

"Did you stole it?" Lancelot asked curiously.

"Richard himself said he doesn"t want this broken thing anymore." Arthur justified his crime, "Thus I am just recycling this trash."

Lancelot sneered, his white and clean teeth almost blinded Arthur"s eyes, "Strange. Richard, that miser?"

The only thing Lancelot remembered about Richard was him kicking Arthur"s face. Such person became generous? Did the sun rise from the west?

"Yess!!!" Arthur yelled. He held the finished Light Sabre in his hands and a light blade shot out from the hilt upwards.

"Wh,,,, what….are you doing? Must you awfully want to die……isn"t that Light Sabre broken? " Lancelot was puzzled.

"Take a look." Arthur let go. The blade of the Light Sabre disappeared before he handed the handle of the sword to his friend.

Lancelot hesitated.

"Just try it. I did not ask you to wave it!" Arthur urged.

"Alright." Lancelot reluctantly gripped the sword and the light blade shot out once again. However, the length of this blade was much longer compared when Arthur held the blade.

"What, what happened?"

"It"s a normal phenomenon. It seems that whenever I hold a photon weapon in my hands, its effectiveness will greatly decrease." Arthur said.

"It"s like a curse." Lancelot sighed at his friend"s misfortune. He knew that there was some kind of peculiarity in his friend’s physique, but he never expected for it to be this devastating, "Even so, do you still think you have the qualities to become a Swordsman?"

Arthur sneered, "The length of the sword does not matter. One got to have agility and flexibility skills in order to get close to the enemy to deliver a fatal blow. Even a dagger would be sufficient. In theory, there is nothing that can stop the sharp vertical spike of a Light Sabre. Compared to a Photon Light Armor, a Photon Heavy Armor of a knight makes a person’s movements slowly and bulky and makes dodging attacks strenuous and difficult. Therefore, a knight wearing a bulky heavy armor can never win against a light armored, nimble swordsman."

Lancelot shook his head disdainfully. His golden bangs were fluttering heartily mid air, "That"s just a theory. Everyone is afraid of death. So what kind of an idiot person would not wear heavy armor on the battlefield?"

To pursue agility, lightness, and speed means ignoring one"s defensive power.

"It takes courage to achieve great things." Arthur defended.

"It seems to me you are just a crazy lunatic madman." Lancelot satirized.

Although crazy, but for Arthur, his only chance of winning was to reverse and narrow the gap between him and normal people.

"You may not believe me, but one day, I will prove to you the usefulness of this theory." Arthur stubbornly reiterated.

Lancelot did not argue further. He knew Arthur"s life circ.u.mstances were tough enough. He doesn"t want to agitate him further.

While the youths were chatting, the alarm bell suddenly rattled throughout the base.

"It seems we have to stay up late tonight again." Lancelot looked at the burning flash of flames outside the window, "Vikings."
