LD - 2 . Elixir (4)

“The patient in the private room, he hasn’t returned yet?”

When the afternoon had pa.s.sed, Han Seo Jin did not return, worrying Professor Kim Ja Hong and the medical staff . They were worried to see if anything had happened to him .

“Call him, come on . ”

“I’ve already called him several times but I am unable to get through . A voicemail has been left but he has not replied yet . ”

“Huh, maybe something has happened to him?”

The professor was frustrated at this turn in events .

Considering the fact that the unknown antibody could be extracted from Han Seo Jin, he couldn’t help but grow more tense . Although 0 . 01mg of the antibody was extracted from Han Seo Jin, this was not enough to conduct experiments and identify its properties . He needed more to fulfill his ambition .

‘No doubt, this antibody was produced by the patient’s immune system . ’

The professor firmly believed in this hypothesis, and all that was left was to verify it . But with the important collaborator, Han Seo Jin, not returning back to the hospital, he could only wait in frustration .

“I cannot wait any longer, I have to go . What is the address of the patient who has been treated?”

“Yes, professor? You would like to go in person? Isn’t that a problem? There is privacy protection…”

“I have to go, it is important!”

To the dismay of the medical students, Professor Kim Ja Hong went to the hospital’s admissions office, found Han Seo Jin’s address, and left the hospital .

The drive to Han Seo Jin’s studio apartment was about 40 minutes . When he arrived, the professor pressed the apartment’s security panel from the first floor .

“Who is it?”

“Han Seo Jin? I am you primary care physician . ”

“Ah yes, but why are you here?

Hearing Han Seo Jin’s indifferent voice, the professor had an ominous feeling . He coughed lightly and replied .

“You have to come back to the hospital . You haven’t been discharged yet . Han Seo Jin-ssi, you …”

“I checked at another hospital and they told me that I’m completely cured . ”

“ . . . ”
“Why did you hide that from me?!"

The professor was speechless and ashamed . He had hid the truth in order to conduct more research . Finally, he pulled himself together and replied .

“Han Seo Jin-ssi, I’m sorry if there were any misunderstandings . Truthfully, we knew that you had almost fully recovered . We delayed the news a bit in order to ensure that nothing was missed from our observations . Actually, we were about to report to you about your recovery in a day or two . ”

“ . . . ”

“I apologize if what I’ve said is unsatisfactory . I do not intend to do anything malicious to you, but can we possibly talk face to face?”

“I’ll go down . ”

The professor was a tad relieved to hear his answer .

After a moment, Han Seo Jin came down wearing comfortable clothes . He took the professor to the convenience store in front of the building and bought two cups of coffee . They sat outside at the tables .

Although the professor desired for a more private area, he could only relent and continue his persuasion .

“If you had misunderstood, I will apologize again . Even amongst doctors, we differ on when we could give the news of a full recovery . This difference typically ranges from a few days to be safe . ”

“I see, but why did you want to speak to me personally?”

It seemed that the misunderstanding was temporarily put to the side . The professor swallowed dryly as what came next was the most important .

“I think that your immune system is special, it is unique compared to others . ”

“My immune system?”

“Don’t dwell to intensely on it . The immune system serves to naturally help treat the host body’s illnesses . Someone with a strong immune system doesn’t get sick, and get better quicker . That is why you, Han Seo Jin-ssi, were able to overcome the fatal cancer . ”

“So?”

“In your blood, I found that there was a specific antibody that was the perpetrator to your cured status . If we could study its properties, then there would be a breakthrough in the treatment of cancer . This is a dream opportunity for all patients with cancer . ”

The professor could only attempt to persuade him sincerely . He was even willing to kneel and beg for the chance .

“Han Seo Jin-ssi, please help me fulfill this dream for them . ”

The professor bowed his head even lower, pleading for Han Seo Jin’s agreement .

‘Was I too sensitive?’

I had been suspicious of Professor Kim Ja Hong’s intent after the report from the other hospital . He had thought that the professor had an ulterior motive in hiding his successful progress . Afterall, he had been cured in a day or two .

Han Seo Jin glanced at the eagerly waiting professor . He stared at the professor, hoping that the power of Insight would activate . Sadly, nothing happened .

So close .

It would be very convenient if he could also read the minds of others . Could this be a limitation of the power or his own capabilities?

He had to make his own decision without the use of Insight . Deep in thought, Han Seo Jin could only ponder over his choices while the professor waited for his answer .

“I am…”

As he waited for Han Seo Jin to finish, it was so silent he could even hear himself swallow nervously .

“I will refuse, I am sorry . ”

The king awoke and thought about the situation .

“I am a slave in the dream, but he isn’t so bad . ”

He had been afraid that Han Seo Jin would accept the doctor’s offer, but luckily he had refused .

Unlike Han Seo Jin, King Arthur saw the doctor’s mixed intent . He hadn’t used any spells to figure this out . Instead, due to his vast experience with subjugating a thick wall of people and governing his kingdom with judicious politics, he was able to discern the truth .

The doctor did not lie, but he had hidden his true intent .

“If he had only held the pure intention of curing the sick, then I would’ve believed in his plea…”

The king muttered bitterly .

Although the doctor did desire to help find a cure for those with cancer, but at the same time, he had his own ambitions of success .

“My lord . ”

A maid, who was dressed thinly, approached the king and bowed her head .

“Everyone has gathered . It is time to show them your success, your majesty . ”

“I know . ”

When the king stood up, four maids helped him wear his attire . He was trimmed with gold and silver embroidery, with a gorgeous crown adorned with jewels on his head .

The king went out into the corridor, wearing a golden cape with a red trim that billowed behind him . More than a dozen followers, including the chamberlain, followed him out the halls .

As he approached the high balcony, he could see a huge plaza filled to the brim with his citizens . Hundreds of thousands of his citizens were gathered at the plaza . They shouted in joy when he had appeared .

“Hail the King!”

“Hail King Arthur! Hurray!”

King Arthur waved his right hand and nodded slightly to the crowd . The joyous shouts grew louder .

Suddenly, a giant shadow appeared from far away . The citizens gasped in shock at the sight of the monstrosity .

It was an enormous black dragon . The dragon was well over a 100m long and hovered above the ground before the king .

At the head the dragon stood a man who was adorned in black armor . As soon as he saw the king, he knelt on one knee and bowed his head .

“Your majesty, I am glad to say that the Cardinal Knights have succeeded . ”

“The mission is complete . ”

“Yes! We have subdued the deep sea monster, Quitehel, which has disturbed the Crosby region . Now the citizens there will be able to live and work safely . ”

The king raised his head and saw an incredible sight .

From afar, one could see a faint shadow on the horizon . Slowly these shadows grew larger . It was not one, but a myriad of shadows of his Black Dragon Corps…

Behind them was a giant creature that seemed to have crawled out from the deep sea . It had a round, large head and several tentacles . Each tentacle was more than two times the size of the black dragon .

The creature was caught in numerous nets and dragged by the Black Dragon Corps . Although it was still breathing, he could not move a muscle .

“Wow, they have captured the monster, Quitehel!”

“Hail the Cardinal Knights! The Black Dragon Corps!”

“Hail the King! Hail the King!”

As if the capital was not frenzied enough, the loud shouts shook the streets .

The king smiled kindly and continued to wave his hand lightly towards his citizens .

The ruler of Lenorjian, the master of all living things .

This was the truth that n.o.body dared to deny .
