Link The Orc – Chapter 1

Bbiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I had no idea what was going on. My eyesight was murky, and everything shook as if I was in an earthquake. The tinnitus in my ears was driving me crazy. I didn’t know where I was, and I had no idea what was going on.

Koo-ooh..Wah wah..wah..

Waaaah..Ah ah..ah..

I could hear a sound off in the distance, but the tinnitus made the sound quite dim. It sounded like people were yelling… Was I in a place where people were yelling? I raised my hands to wrap them around my head. If I held on to my head tightly, then maybe my eyesight would get better by a little bit…

“Koo-oohk!”

Suddenly, a sudden pain blossomed on the right side of my head. I must have been too out of it to feel the pain, but the pain blossomed when I started touching my aching head. Still, it seemed the pain was effective. For a brief moment, my head cleared, and I started discerning what was in my surrounding.

“What the…”

I was shocked when my eyes started to discern what I was seeing. Humans and green colored monsters were fighting. Several hundred humans and orcs mixed together in a battle… So those are orcs.

…. what? How do I know those creatures are orcs? Mmmm… I knew it since I already knew it. Anyways, the orcs wore patchwork of equipment, but the humans were equipped with identical swords, shields and armors. There was a uniformity to them. This made the orc warriors look barbaric as they fought against the human soldiers.

However… What am I doing in the middle of a battlefield?? I’m sure I was at my house… Uh? What was I doing here? I couldn’t remember anything. Do I really have a home? … I don’t know. I didn’t know anything.

The hand grabbing my head was sticky. I looked down at my hand and it was covered in blood. It seemed I was struck by something on the head, and I had lost consciousness…

“I suffered an attack from….a thrown stone.”

I found a stone with blood smeared across it. Amongst the enemy’s weapons, I remembered a weapon capable of shooting fist-sized rocks. Still, it seemed I was slow in recovering. My eyesight improved, and the tinnitus in my ears was lessening. I was able to hear the surrounding sounds. However, I only heard loud noises akin to the tinnitus I had heard before.

A little bit… I’ll rest for a little bit. My memories started coming back slowly. Truthfully, it wasn’t as if my memories were suddenly back. It felt like memories were intruding into a blank s.p.a.ce in my head… It would be correct to say my memories were returning. Surely a previously non-existent memories can’t suddenly form in my head, right?

“Koo-hoo.. Yes. That’s what happened.”

There was a reason why I was here, and there was a reason why I had been attacked. This all had a purpose. I was directly involved in this war, and I fell after taking a slung stone to the head when my enemies had ambushed me. I had the precise memory of walking down the road, when I suddenly felt an impact on my head. If I considered my current state, and the battle happening in front of me, I knew what had happened.

I picked up the weapon fallen to the floor. I woke my battle instinct that had turned dormant when I had temporarily lost my memories. Yes. I’m a warrior. I was a warrior that obtained glory when I defeat strong foes.

One step.. Two steps… Three steps….

At first, I staggered for a brief moment. Soon I was able to regain my balance, and I walked straight towards the battle field. My stride lengthened, and I started putting more and more strength into my body. My speed increased. When all my strength returned to my body, an unbidden yell exploded out of me.

“Koo-wuhhhhhhhhhhk!”

I was a warrior. I was a proud warrior of the Orc race, who destroyed the heads of enemies with my axe!

“Ahk!”

Hahnsahng let out a scream as he woke up.

“Huh-uhk. Huh-uhk.”

Hahnsahng was dripping with a lot of cold sweat, and he looked around his surrounding with vacant eyes. This was his room. It wasn’t the plains where several hundred orcs and human were fighting.

“What the…”

The sensation had been very realistic, and he could still feel the sensation on both of his palms. The feeling of splitting a human’s head with an axe. The sensation of his dull bladed axe practically destroying the head instead of slicing it in half. He still felt the ecstasy he felt inside his dreams. To the current Hahnsahng in reality, it was appalling.

He was so surprised that his entire body was drenched with cold sweat.

“Jeez. What kind of dream is so realistic?”

He picked up the phone he had placed on a desk next to his bed, and he checked the time. It was 3:04 AM. He still had 4 hours before he had to get out of bed.

“…..”

Of course, he had to go back to bed, but when he thought about the horrifying sensation, he couldn’t easily fall into sleep. After a brief struggle, Hahnsahng eventually went back to sleep. If Hahnsahng became sleepy during his working hours, he would be in trouble. This was why Hahnsahng always slept at least 7 hours before he went to work.

His dream had been too strange, but it didn’t mean he would give up on his sleep.

Hahn-sahng buried his head into his pillow then he closed his eyes.
