Two days before…

“Yi, what are these transactions you’ve been doing recently? I heard from Qiao He that you’ve been spending a lot of money these past weeks.” Shen Huang barged into Shen Yi’s office with a contract proposal on his hand.

Although the money wasn’t coming from the Shen Group, it made him wary that Shen Yi had been working on something again. Shen Yi just recently acquired land on the eastern part of the capital city which coincidentally where Amusing Plate Patisserie established.

“There’s nothing to be worried about. It was just an investment I’m trying to secure.” Shen Yi replied, his fingers flying over the keyboard of his laptop.

“Are you doing this for Lu Xinyi?”

At that words, Shen Yi stopped and looked back at his father.

“Everything I’m doing is for her and for our future.” There was no point denying to his father. He’d fallen hard for his wife.

Shen Huang was also aware that his eldest son had started his own company, the SY Holdings. In a short span of three years, Shen Yi was able to acquire more companies and a.s.sets that now run under SY Holdings. The vast amount of profit he was able to gain from his properties had surprised Shen Huang.

Under Shen Yi’s management, the Shen Group as able to grow so it shouldn’t be surprising that he was able to start his own empire and protect his investments. The Shen Group derives its wealth from renter profiting. Shen Yi took the initiative to expand their business and acquired more lands to develop, building shopping malls and condominium buildings.

He applied the fundamental monopoly on land owners.h.i.+p making the Shen Group commercial landowners of several commercial buildings. Then he created a brand which was highly valued by their clients. He even ventured into finance, establis.h.i.+ng their own bank and invested in start-up companies.

The Shen Group had its main circuits that could affect the country’s economy with its influence.

“You aren’t leaving our company anytime soon?” Shen Huang inquired. Managing two companies would take Shen Yi’s time and his marriage with Lu Xinyi will suffer if he kept working for long hours.

“No,” Shen Yi quickly denied, “Sy Holdings can function well with minimal supervision from me.” He doesn’t hire the best employees but hires people with high potential and with good qualities as an employee. Everyone knows that he can able to block list anyone within the capital city if someone displeased him.

They were even baffled when City H’s manager Duan Yong received that punishment from their President Shen. Duan Yong was forced to leave the country to pursue her career in a foreign land because of what happened during Shen Yi’s business trip at City H. It was a clear warning that anyone who dares to offend him will suffer the same fate.

With the holiday just in a corner, everyone was busy shopping and spending their time with their families but Gong Yijun was left with nothing. His woman, Meng Jiao had broken up with him telling him she will abort their child so she could attend Silver Leaf Academy.

Since he lost his job from the company he was working for, he was having a hard time to find another one. It seemed like he was cursed wherever he goes. The hiring managers gave him an awkward stare before telling him that they will consider his application and will give him a call.

He was now sitting idly within their Patisseries Shop that was closed by the city council for several violations. His mother was forced to sell their business and their properties within the capital city.

Just when he was about to stand up and close the shop for good, he heard the bell on the door rang, signaling a customer or a visitor.

“Sorry to inform you but this shop is closed.” Gong Yijun said, feeling anxious as the man of black suit shove his hands on his pockets and scooted closer to the counter facing him.

“As it should be.” Qiao He turned his nose up at the worn out wooden panel, rubbing his finger over the counter only for it to collect specks of dust. He then turned his head to Shen Yi who was trailing behind him, busy looking around the shop.

Gong Yijun greeted his teeth as soon as he saw Shen Yi.

“You! I knew it! All of these happened because of that b.i.t.c.h! Did she sell herself out to you so she can seek revenge?” he exclaimed.

But as soon as those words left his mouth, Qiao He pulled Gong Yijun’s collar and slammed his face down to the wooden counter between them. Gong Yijun screamed in pain but no one had come to help him.

“I see you haven’t learned your lessons.” Shen Yi’s voice was so cold that Gong Yijun shrank back with his knees trembling with fear.

“You shouldn’t have insulted our Young Madam.” Qiao He’s hand found Gong Yijun’s throat. “Boss Yi, your orders please.”

Shen Yi curled his lips, adjusted the lapels of his jacket, and sat at the nearest table.

“Take back my father-in-law’s book from him. I don’t care what methods you will use. Just bring it back to me.”

He swore to his wife that he wouldn’t allow this man to hurt her ever again and he wasn’t planning to break that promise. He must eliminate this vulture before he can do something despicable to Lu Xinyi.
