Sun Qiyan was taken aback by Lu Xinyi’s words. While she knew that Lu Xinyi had a very sharp tongue, she still hadn’t realized that her cousin had only changed her meek demeanor when they had constantly bullied Lu Xinyi.
“You! Not only are you shameless to use the Shen family for your own personal interest, but you also got the nerve to show your face to us?!” Sun Qiyan exclaimed. She couldn’t understand why Chairman Sun still wanted to take Lu Xinyi back to their family. Weren’t long years of separation enough to change his mind about Lu Xinyi?
Lu Xinyi tilted her head on one side, giving Sun Qiyan a confused look.
“I’m just saying what I’m smelling. Can’t you smell the filth in the air, or are you immune to your own scent?”
“Lu Xinyi!” Sun Qiyan was fuming in anger. She was half-tempted to drag Lu Xinyi out from the store, but she was wary of this scene reaching Chairman Sun and Sun Feiyan’s ears.
Lu Xinyi turned to Xiao Lan and whispered to her friend to take the twins outside, and she would follow shortly. At first, she was only curious if the dress on display was really Xia Yuhan’s design; now, she had to deal with her cousin again.
Xiao Lan nodded and took the twins, murmuring promises that she knew another store where they could find more toys.
“Now, where were we?” Lu Xinyi grinned back to her cousin. “Oh, about the Shen family. It’s true that they help me attend Silver Leaf Academy, but it’s not like what you think. It was a mutual deal for both parties. Too bad it’s too confidential to discuss in public.”
Sun Qiyan snorted. She would never believe this woman’s words.
“As if I will believe someone like you! I should have known you were bad news when my mother saw you at the Shen’s gala,” she mumbled to herself.
Lu Xinyi arched a brow. Of course, she knew what happened next after their fateful encounter that night. She was perfectly aware of what her husband did to her aunt’s business.
“Then you should know not to p.i.s.s me off, Qiyan. Hadn’t you learned your lesson yet?”
“Leave. You are not welcome here.” Sun Qiyan hissed.
“Is this how you should treat your customers? I’m merely browsing and checking your stuff within your store. I’m not violating any rules.” Lu Xinyi pointed out.
“You think you can purchase anything in here just because you were able to put your claws on the Shen family. Say, Lu Xinyi, did the Shen young masters give you money to save their faces? I heard one is a closet gay, and the other is addicted to online games.”
The expression on Lu Xinyi’s face changed dramatically. She couldn’t believe someone would dare to question her husband’s s.e.xuality in front of her. As per Shen Xue’s gaming addiction, that was not true for he only played his games after work as far as she knew. Shen Yi was a strict brother to Shen Xue and would never tolerate such bad behavior.
“I suggest you stop spouting nonsense, Qiyan,” Her eyes set ablaze in anger. She was used to being degraded by this cousin of hers, but hearing Sun Qiyan mock her husband and her brother-in-law had brought a bad taste to her mouth.
Sun Qiyan let out a low chuckle and smirked. Crossing her arms below her chest, she gave a mocking look at Lu Xinyi.
“What? Afraid to lose your control over them? I didn’t know you have it in you, Lu Xinyi. I always know that even how much you refuse to join our family, your greed will still get to you.”
Lu Xinyi laughed and shook her head.
“Talking about yourself now, aren’t you?” The Sun family was full of delusional fools. Why were they insisting on something that wasn’t going to happen? If she so chose to become the Big Miss of the Sun family, she would’ve stayed within the Sun Estate after her mother’s death.
Sun Qiyan turned her head and stared at the dress that Lu Xinyi was checking earlier. Of course, she knew the issue about this dress and the collection it belonged to. Even she had the suspicion that Starlight hadn’t come up with it. As to why did Sun Feiyan still brought the clothing line—Sun Qiyan had no idea.
“I heard that Xia Yuhan collaborated with you. Did she beg you to promote her clothes so she could save some face?” she asked Lu Xinyi.
The deep frown on Lu Xinyi’s face had made it obvious that she didn’t understand what Sun Qiyan meant. Was there something Yuan Jin failed to inform her about Xia Yuhan?
“What? Playing innocent now? That’s very unlikely of you, dear cousin. Everyone knows that Flair Apparel got in trouble since the release of their latest collection. You really should reconsider whom you connect with, Lu Xinyi.”
Sensing that she was left alone at the dark by her own best friend, Lu Xinyi lifted her chin and hummed to herself.
“Yeah, I think so, Qiyan. Thank you for your concern, but at least her collections weren’t second-rate, unlike the clothes you sell in here.”
Hearing Lu Xinyi’s comments, some customers of Starlight stopped and started gossiping at low voices. That remark pushed Sun Qiyan to the limit of her patience, grabbing Lu Xinyi’s arm and dragging her outside your store.
“I won’t let you get away with this, Lu Xinyi! Now that Feiyan is back, you should watch where you’re going.”
“Is that a warning?”
“No, this is a threat.” Sun Qiyan stressed out. She would not admit it publicly, but she was afraid of Sun Feiyan and of their aunt, Sun Mingai. There was something about the two that tell her they were dangerous to deal with.
