Married?
No. Impossible.
Gong Yijung couldn’t believe that he’d lost Lu Xinyi like that. He had tried to keep her for years hoping that one day she would marry him. In spite of the fact that Lu Xinyi had a complicated relations.h.i.+p with the Sun family, she was still considered part of the family. If he was to marry her, Lu Xinyi’s inheritance would be his, too—not to mention the recipe books in her possession.
“Xinyi. Please tell me you’re joking.”
Hearing Gong Yijun calling his wife’s name again, Shen Yi was furious, but he contained his anger. Who would joke about being married? While he was happy that Lu Xinyi never denied him as her husband, that wouldn’t mean he wouldn’t try to put her ex-boyfriend in his right place.
Lu Xinyi had put on her poker face, not caring anymore what Gong Yijun would feel about her words. She let Shen Yi hold her closer to him.
“Indeed, I’m really married to him. I hope that you’ll forget about me. I don’t wanna see your face anymore. Be happy with Meng Jiao. I’m pretty sure she will make you happy, especially in bed.” she coldy replied.
“No! Xinyi, you don’t understand. You are the one I love!” Gong Yijun begged Lu Xinyi. He wanted to take her from another man’s embrace. He was oblivious of the piercing glare that Shen Yi was giving him.
“I know I was wrong. Can you please forgive me? You promised to me that whatever happens, you will always choose me and will never marry any man that your family push for you to marry. Xinyi, please. Please come back to me.”
Meng Jiao’s face contorted with anger. Why was he still choosing Lu Xinyi over her?!
Lu Xinyi arched a brow. Who said she married the one the Sun family wanted for her?
“Didn’t your a.s.s get jealous of your mouth for the amount of s.h.i.+t that came out of it? Do you really take me for a fool?”
He didn’t want to give her up, not like this. He was stupid for hurting Lu Xinyi. While Meng Jiao was beautiful and smart, her family background and culinary skills were far inferior against Lu Xinyi.
Gong Yijun stepped forward to pull Lu Xinyi away from the arms of this stranger, but he didn’t expect that this man would stop him. Shen Yi grabbed his wrist tightly and flung him away from his wife. Gong Yijun lost his balance and staggered backwards before falling on the floor with his eyes wide.
“Are you deaf? Didn’t my Xinyi said she doesn’t want to see you again? Scram!” Shen Yi said in anger.
Meng Jiao quickly helped Gong Yijun to get back up on his feet. She was also surprised by the revelations today. She’d never thought that Lu Xinyi had beaten her once again, making her feel inferior. She was filled with rage. This d.a.m.n Lu Xinyi kept herself one step ahead of her, and she was still in Gong Yijun’s heart after all these years.
How come Lu Xinyi could always get lucky while she would always get the short end of the stick?
Gong Yijun steadied himself and felt a bit scared by the sight of Shen Yi’s face. Although he didn’t know who this man was, the intimidating aura was apparent. He was too afraid to utter a word back to Lu Xinyi’s new husband. He shouldn’t dare offend him any further or else… If this was the man the Sun family set up for Lu Xinyi to marry, then he should also come from a reputable family.
“Darling, I’m tired. Can we go home? Can Xiulan stay with me for awhile?” Lu Xinyi turned to her husband.
She had enough drama for today. Her head was starting to ache, and she really wanted to go home and relax for a bit. Her eyes met Meng Jiao’s jealous eyes. She still couldn’t understand why her friend betrayed her. Had it always been like this? Was she really that oblivious to her friend’s real att.i.tude?
“Okay.” Shen Yi replied. He now knew the real score between his wife and these two idiots. “Then let’s go. I will drive you home.”
With an arm still around his wife’s waist, Shen Yi walked out of the shop with Lu Xinyi. Lu Xiulan and Qiao He followed behind them.
“Xinyi! That was amazing. You should have seen Meng Jiao’s face when Gong Yijun begged you to come back to him.” Lu Xiulan laughed. The show earlier was quite entertaining. “Too bad we can’t do anything about those recipes they took from Uncle’s keepsake,” she said with a sigh.
“They took your father’s recipes?” Shen Yi asked Lu Xinyi.
Lu Xinyi nodded. “Yeah, but just like Xiulan said, I couldn’t do anything to take it back.”
Shen Yi didn’t say anything more. Lu Xinyi thought she didn’t have a way, but he had.
