Upon mentioning Sun Qiushan’s name, Xi Yunchuan froze and stared back at Lu Xinyi with wide eyes. He wasn’t expecting this woman to mention the person he’d been looking for since he arrived.

“You seem surprised, Mr. Xi. Do you, in any way, know my cousin, Qiushan?”

Xi Yunchuan was clearly startled but nevertheless answered her question.

“Yes, I’ve met Miss Sun before…”

“It has been months…” Lu Xinyi sighed dejectedly. “I already asked my grandfather and Qiyan about her whereabouts, but neither of them knew where she is.” She leaned her head on Shen Yi’s arm and looked up at him.

“Darling, do you think you can do me a favor and find Qiushan for me?” She asked like any concern family members should be when one of them was missing.

Shen Yi nodded, aware of what his wife was trying to do with Xi Yunchuan. Judging by Xi Yunchuan’s reaction, he didn’t want the Shen family to intervene and find Sun Qiushan.

“I’ll try to see and send someone to look for her.”

“Hmm, my darling is the best. I know I can always rely on you.” Lu Xinyi gloated. “Excuse me, CEO Xi, we have to go now. It’s nice meeting you.” She gave both father and son a slight nod before dragging Shen Yi away from them. She turned away swiftly, not waiting to see their reaction.

Once she turned her face away, the calm facade on her face was replaced with unconcealed hatred and anger.

Shen Yi held her trembling hand. It must have been hard for his wife to stay calm after seeing Xi Yunchuan in person. Lu Xinyi was no angel. If people didn’t dare to offend her, she wouldn’t retaliate back. They could only blame themselves for touching this devil’s bottom line.

Sun Feiyan stood over the balcony of the Sun mansion, watching the activities taking place downstairs. This time, Chairman Sun had decided to throw a grand party for Lu Xinyi. Only the wealthiest, most prominent figures at the capital were invited. After today, she was sure that Lu Xinyi’s name would become more popular as she accepted her role as the Sun family’s third miss again.

As she watched, she pondered why she was even here once again. Wouldn’t it be better if she left everything to Lu Xinyi and return to the life she had overseas with Ye Xingjie? However, she forced to vanish this thought in her mind. She’d never be in peace no matter how far she went as long as those who murdered her father were still enjoying their freedom.

She thought that this event was quite annoying. Socializing was never her strong point, and she did not care one bit about anyone but herself. Catching a glimpse of Lu Xinyi, she was sourly reminded why she went back to this place.

Behind her stood Ye Xingjie and Chen Anqi. They both know what their mistress was planning to do, but they didn’t understand why she was also putting herself in danger.

“Miss Feiyan, your suspicion is correct. Sun Qiyan indeed gave Miss Qiushan to Xi Yunchuan. Her last known whereabouts were when she met Sun Qiyan and Xi Yunchuan seven months ago,” Ye Xingjie reported.

“Where is she?” Sun Feiyan asked. The party was about to end, and she was eager to retire for the night.

“Dead.” Ye Xingjie didn’t dare to hide the truth any further.

The Shen family had really hidden this information well. If it wasn’t for him accidentally seeing Lu Xinyi visiting an unnamed tomb the other day, he wouldn’t suspect that the fourth miss of the Sun family was already dead.

That single word was enough to make Chen Anqi tremble in fear.

What? Sun Qiushan was already dead?! How could this be?!

“Miss Feiyan…” The longer they stay in this mansion, the harder it was for Chen Anqi to see her mistress being vulnerable to her relatives.

“What’s the cause of her death?” Sun Feiyan’s eyes lidded, her eyes flas.h.i.+ng unreadable emotions on it.

“She suffered multiple injuries from Xi Yunchuan. Lu Xinyi tried her best to save her but failed.”

Sun Feiyan chuckled lowly. No wonder Lu Xinyi had chosen to join the Sun family once again. It was all for the sake of getting revenge for Sun Qiushan. Initially, Sun Feiyan had long decided to force Qiushan out of the family for her safety. She never thought that her death would be the key for Lu Xinyi to finally make a move.

Lu Xinyi hated being a.s.sociated with their family so how come she decided to come back willingly after all these years?

Sun Feiyan had to thank Qiyan for that. Now that Lu Xinyi was back, each chess piece was now in their right places. It was time to play a deadly game with her family.

She watched as Lu Xinyi left the mansion with President Shen. She lifted her wine gla.s.s to touch her lips. She couldn’t wait to see what Lu Xinyi’s next move would be.

The couple stayed silent throughout their ride back to their home at Imperial Residences. The events for tonight had left Lu Xinyi tired as she leaned on her husband, trying to figure out how to face the next days without his warmth.

In two days, she’d be returning to Silver Leaf to continue attending her cla.s.ses. However, before that, she would have to meet Zheng Yue and w.a.n.g Zhuyi tomorrow for their first photoshoot.

“Why don’t you terminate your lease on Lunar Residence and stay with me?” Shen Yi voiced out his opinion.

“Hmm? Someone’s regretting breaking the academy’s rules now?” She teased back.

Shen Yi wasn’t allowed to stay overnight at her penthouse at Lunar Residence, but he did it thrice. The first offense was forgivable as he fell sick, and Lu Xinyi didn’t have the heart to send her sick husband away. However, the second and the third offenses were intentionally on Shen Yi’s part.

Shen Yi scoffed, turning his attention outside the window. It was almost midnight, but the city was still awake, with its citizens roaming its busy streets.

It wasn’t his fault that he was missing his wife, and every time he visited her at Lunar Residence, he couldn’t keep his hands away from her. His mischief had caused Lu Xinyi to receive visitation suspension for the whole term.

This only meant that he could only meet Lu Xinyi outside the academy. He didn’t think he could also stay far too long without her; hence, he invited her to move back at Imperial Residence.

“What? I don’t have plans of taking care of your white tiger? None of my men wanted to take care of him. You know he only listens to you,” Shen Yi countered, earning an amused smile from his wife.

Lu Xinyi crawled and straddled his lap, much to Shen Yi’s surprise. Was this the alcohol’s effect on her? Not that he was complaining, but with her flushed cheeks and slightly pouty lips, he stiffened at her touch.

His hands snaked their way up to her side, traveling to her back, enjoying the smoothness of her skin. With her b.r.e.a.s.t.s pressed on his chest, Lu Xinyi threw her hair back inadvertently baring her slender neck to him.

That snapped the restraint Shen Yi was trying to hold to. He burrowed his nose in the crook of her neck, leaving a trail of kisses on her smooth skin. Yes, he admitted to himself. He truly couldn’t keep his hands off her, especially when she’s like this.
