Now that their marriage had been disclosed, Shen Yi felt relieved that they wouldn’t need to hide from the public prying eyes. It might take some time before they leave them alone, but soon, when another scandal exploded, their attention would drift away from them.

Want to tarnish his wife’s reputation? Then, let’s see if they’re brave enough to face him instead.

Just like what he’s told Tang Shui, the Shen Group’s PR department released an official statement confirming Shen Yi’s marriage to the third miss of the Sun family and the couple’s decision to adopt the orphaned twins from a relative.

Still, the reporters chose to camp outside the Shen Group building from a safe distance, waiting to get an ambush interview with Shen Yi or get an exclusive scoop about the couple.

Shen Yi’s secret marriage to the Sun heiress was a big news people wanted to follow. There was an emergency meeting with the executives of the Shen Group as their shareholders needed to be rea.s.sured that it’d not affect the company.

While Shen Yi was busy with his conference meeting, Lu Xinyi—who was in the middle of planning the fas.h.i.+on show for their next campaign—suddenly heard her name being called by one of their store attendants. The young woman was waiting for her expectantly at the doorway.

“Miss Lu, someone sent a gift for you,” she said.

Zhang Qing and Jiao Jiao stood at once and asked the attendant to give them the gift politely. When Jiao Jiao opened it, she didn’t expect to see a perfectly made blueberry cheesecake inside the box. She flipped the card open to see who gifted their madam the dessert.

“What is it?” Lu Xinyi inquired, she was signing her approval for the purchases needed for the fas.h.i.+on show while marking the things that they could omit from the list.

“Miss Lu, Li Yuren sent you a box of cheesecake,” Zhang Qing replied. She took the card from Jiao Jiao’s hand and pa.s.sed it to Lu Xinyi while Jiao Jiao placed the box on her desk.

“Li Yuren?” Lu Xinyi read the neatly handwritten note on the card.

Being surprised was an understatement. She was shocked that the man, the fiance she ditched several times, would send his greetings like this. Taking a peek at the box, she found her favorite cheesecake inside.

This one came from the same bakery where she and Li Yuren met a few months ago. She had no idea how to thank him for his previous help for she didn’t have any way to contact him. A small smile crossed on her face. It seemed like Li Yuren wasn’t bad at all.

Her meeting with Xia Yuhan finished at 3 PM. She received a message from her husband to go directly to Shen Group once she was done. The twins were already picked up from their home and were waiting at his office anyway.

Shen Yi wanted them to eat out for a change because Lu Xinyi was too busy and wouldn’t have enough time to cook for dinner.

After some careful contemplation, she agreed. It would be better if the public got used to seeing them being together. Avoiding them would only give them inconvenience in the future.

When she arrived at the entrance of Shen Group, the reporters camping nearby saw her arrival. They flocked on one side and took shots of her. Mrs. Shen had already warned their fellow media men earlier, and they would rather not attract Shen Yi’s wrath this time.

“Miss Lu, should I deal with them?” Zhang Qing asked. She was prepared in case someone would overstep their boundaries again and attack Lu Xinyi.

“No. There’s no need.” Lu Xinyi confidently strode inside the company without stopping.

Since their relations.h.i.+p was disclosed already, she had nothing to be afraid of some publicity. The news about her might even give Flair Apparel’s fas.h.i.+on show some publicity for free.

Remembering that Zhang Qing’s brother was now working under Qiao He, Lu Xinyi let her bodyguard take a break for a while.

“By the way, your brother is a.s.signed at Shen Group’s IT department. You may visit and catch up with him if you want,” she told Zhang Qing.

“But Miss…” Zhang Qing’s steps faltered. Although she occasionally received phone calls from her brother, there was no chance for her to visit him and ask him how he had been.

“Go,” Lu Xinyi said decisively. “I have Jiao Jiao and Fu Rui with me. You deserve to have some break after the things you’ve done recently for me.”

Zhang Qing thanked her mistress and left at once. She didn’t dare to argue over the matter as she also wanted to spend time with the only relative she had.

Arriving at Shen Yi’s office, Lu Xinyi found the twins arguing who had the better drawing between them.

“It looks like a ghost, Yuyan. Are you sure that’s a doll?” Shen Zichen teased his younger sister.

The two were lying on their stomach on the carpeted floor next to Shen Yi’s desk which was filled with stacks of doc.u.ments. There were papers everywhere while the twins were oblivious about their adoptive mother’s arrival.

Little Yuyan glared and pouted at his brother in return.

Lu Xinyi could almost imagine steam coming out from the girl’s ears because of Zichen’s provocation. She decided to step up, making sure the two wouldn’t start another word war. She coughed, gaining the children’s attention.

“Mommy!” Little Yuyan quickly got up from the floor and ran towards Lu Xinyi, her small arms wrapping around Lu Xinyi’s leg.

“Arguing again, are you?” she snickered.

“Mommy, Zi Gege is teasing me again,” the little girl said with her wide puppy eyes.

“Now, now, don’t be so harsh to your sister, Zichen. Not everyone is good at the start. It takes time to master one’s skill. Who knows that maybe my Little Yuyan would be a famous artist in the future?” She patted Shen Yuyan’s head.

“Does that mean Mommy also doesn’t know how to cook when she was a kid?” The boy sat on the floor, confused.

“Yes,” Lu Xinyi affirmed, “Mommy had to burn several cookies and meals before she learned how to cook properly,” she admitted.

The twins opened their mouths, but no words came out. They couldn’t believe that a chef as good as their mommy had once burnt cookies and meals. For them, it was almost impossible to believe her claims.

“Does that mean that my drawing really looks like a ghost?” Little Yuyan started to sob much to Lu Xinyi’s surprise.

She kneeled down beside the girl and wiped Little Yuyan’s cheeks.

“Oh, honey. It’s not that bad. Your Gege is just teasing you. Right, Zichen?” She gave the young boy a glance, daring him to disagree with her for Yuyan’s sake.

Shen Zichen s.h.i.+vered under Lu Xinyi’s gaze.

“Y-yes. Mommy is right, Yuyan. I-I was just joking.”

He now understood why their Daddy said that Mommy could be scary sometimes. He initially thought Daddy Yi was just saying it so they wouldn’t give their Mommy Xinxin a headache. However, today, there was no doubt that their Mommy was really scary that Daddy didn’t dare to disobey her!
