Leather shoes stepped on the carpeted floor, a jacket adjusted over the white s.h.i.+rt Shen Yi wore. His s.h.i.+rt opened with a loose collar as he removed the tie and released the top b.u.t.tons while Lu Xinyi was equally gorgeous, put together with the new dress she was donning, which reached just above her calves.
The azure dress sported beadwork and embroidered flower designs on its skirt. With her hair gathered into a swept side ponytail and held up by a white pearl hair ornament, Lu Xinyi curled the rests of it in loose waves.
As she glanced at her husband’s way through their reflection, she couldn’t help but grin.
“You know you don’t have to accompany us for dinner,” she said.
Shen Yi had just come back from his business trip and was exhausted, but he insisted on coming with her and the twins to the Tangs to spend family dinner.
“It’s fine. I also have something to discuss with Uncle Shui so our visit will save me some time. You look stunning, wife.”
His wife giggled softly as he pulled her into his arms, her smiling eyes looking up at him.
“You’re just saying that. Hmph.”
“Never,” Shen Yi whispered, his lips lowered to press against hers, her fingers reaching up to cup his cheek before they parted.
“And what would happen when the day comes when I’m old and my face is wrinkly?” Lu Xinyi asked him quietly, her hands adjusting his s.h.i.+rt, giving his shoulder a pat, pleased with her work.
“If your heart will still be the same I’ve fallen for, I don’t mind.” A smile tugging on his lips as he held her. “You’ll be forever beautiful in my eyes.”
“When did my husband learn to be romantic?” Lu Xinyi laughed but faltered when she felt him lowered his lips on her throat and collarbone. “Darling, what are you doing? Don’t we still have dinner to attend?” she asked as she squirmed on his arms.
“Hmm?” Shen Yi murmured amusedly against her pale flesh, “Are you telling me to stop? I’ve been gone for a week; you don’t miss me?”
“How about we continue this later?” She gently pushed his chest away, giggling when he kissed the tip of her nose. “We can’t keep that two waiting downstairs, no?”
“I suppose you’re right.” He smiled down at her before offering his arm for her to take. “Shall we go, Madam Shen?”
“Thank you, CEO Shen. You’re so thoughtful.” Lu Xinyi giggled as she did a light curtsy before sliding her hand on his offered arm.
Shen Yi raised a brow at her as she tested his new t.i.tle on her tongue. Now that he left the Shen Group in Shen Xue’s care, Shen Yi was now presiding the SY Holdings as its CEO.
He led her down the stairs, the house surprisingly quiet as the twins were sitting on the floor and brus.h.i.+ng the white tiger’s fur.
“Oh, my babies are busy. Should Daddy and I leave without them?” Lu Xinyi asked her husband with feigned disappointment on her voice. “I thought they’ll be excited to leave since we haven’t had dinner together as a family.”
When the twins heard her voice, they simultaneously looked up only to see their parents already downstairs waiting for them.
“Wait! We’re coming with you!” Little Yuyan threw the brush she was holding on the table and ran towards her father while Shen Zichen pattered his feet towards Lu Xinyi and held her hand.

“Are we late?” Lu Xinyi kissed her grandmother’s cheek before glancing at the long dinner table prepared for tonight. Following her lead, the twins also kissed Tang Lingfei, greeting her with bright smiles.
The old woman patted their heads and told them to get seated and wait for a yummy dessert later.
“No, dear. You are just in time,” she responded to Lu Xinyi before taking in her appearance. “You look das.h.i.+ng and blooming. Are we expecting a little bun soon?”
Lu Xinyi laughed and shook her head before taking the seat next to her grandmother.
“Grandmother must be joking. It’s fine that we have Zichen and Yuyan for now. We’ll just see and wait if we’ll have another child soon.”
Just as the dishes were being served, a shrill, loud ringing sound made Lu Xinyi groan. Her brown eyes turning from her grandmother to her husband.
“Dear, is it really so hard to put your phone in silent when we’re dining?”
“Sorry, dear. We’re in the middle of an important project,” Shen Yi apologized. It couldn’t be helped. The project they were building was on its critical stage, and any slight mistake could affect the whole plan.
“I know. They are all important according to you, but so are we.” She pouted back. “CEO Shen, do you want to be sent on the doghouse tonight? Don’t test my patience.”
“Five minutes. I’ll finish this call, and I’ll be back.” Shen Yi promised as he stood up, his lips lowered to kiss her crown before leaving.
Lu Xinyi watched him leave before sighing. This wasn’t the first time it happened, and it was becoming more frequent lately.
“Sorry about that, Grandmother.”
“There’s nothing to have apologized about, Xin’er. It’s normal for a married couple to have arguments. Is Yi busier than usual?” Tang Lingfei asked when Shen Yi was already out of sight.
“He is,” Lu Xinyi replied and thanked the maid who poured a drink for her. “He’s been away lately for business trips.”
Tang Shui, who was listening to them, chimed in.
“He should set his priorities straight. I know it’s hard for someone like him who runs a big company, but Shen Yi is married to you, not to his work. Don’t worry, Xin’er, I’ll talk with him later.” He a.s.sured his niece. Lu Xinyi was probably sad that her husband wasn’t able to pay more quality time with her lately.
“Thank you, Uncle.” Lu Xinyi’s mood turned better with her uncle’s rea.s.surance.
