A frown creased Shen Yi’s brows when he heard Shen Zichen whimper quietly in his arms. The little boy was already independent to look after himself and his sister despite his young age and had never given him or his wife any problems so far.
It was Little Yuyan who was occasionally needy between the two. However, today, Shen Yi was reminded that Zichen was also still a child and would need attention and care from his parents.
Just looking after the twins was already tiring. He started to ponder where his wife was getting all those energies to keep up with them on a daily basis. His frown deepened when he raised a hand and touched the boy’s warm forehead. Shen Zichen was burning with fever.
He couldn’t remember seeing the boy sick that morning although Zichen’s unusual silence should have been noted.
“Don’t worry, Boss Yi. It’s probably just a cold.” Qiao He commented, who was sitting at the chair next to Shen Zichen’s bed while lifting Little Yuyan up to sit on his knee, as they looked at the sick boy lying on the bed.
“Just a cold?” Shen Yi was hoping that it wasn’t something serious. Thinking about it, he could not inform Lu Xinyi of Zichen’s condition. His wife had only been away for a week and must be competing for her way to enter the top 50 of the compet.i.tion.
“Will he be okay, Uncle?” Little Yuyan asked worriedly. Why did his brother get sick when their mommy wasn’t around?
“If the condition worsens, I’m sure Zhao Xi would inform you; but obviously, Zichen just got a cold. Nothing to worry about,” Qiao He told the little girl with a rea.s.suring smile. “However, maybe tonight, you shouldn’t share your room with your brother as you may also catch his cold.” He cast a pity glance at his boss.
Without their young madam, it would be hard for his boss to look after a sick child. If Little Yuyan also caught Shen Zichen’s cold, it would be a handful and stressful for Shen Yi.
“Noooo… don’t send me away to Uncle Xue, Daddy. He’ll bully me again,” Little Yuyan said, looking at Shen Yi desperately.
“Do you want to get sick?” Shen Yi asked quietly, staring back at the little girl seriously. He was hoping she wouldn’t whine and cooperate with them at this time.
‘Ah, being alone at home with the kids was so stressful. Wife, you need to come home quick.’ he thought to himself.
“No,” the little girl responded quietly, “but please don’t send me off, Daddy.”
“Two children would be quite a handful to deal with, Boss.” Qiao He wept inwardly for his boss. Ay, babysitting wasn’t an easy task at all.
“I suppose that’s true,” Shen Yi murmured as he stood, stroking Little Yuyan’s hair gently as he thought over the situation they were in. He absolutely could not tell this to Lu Xinyi, or she would be worried which might affect her performance.
Qiao He and Little Yuyan left the twins’ bedroom to find something to eat for dinner while Shen Yi was left alone, sitting beside Shen Zichen’s bed. His worries only lessened when Zhao Xi arrived and checked after the sick child.

“I tried calling you earlier. You weren’t answering your phone. Are you busy?” Lu Xinyi’s voice could be heard from the other line.
Shen Yi rubbed his temple and sighed. It had only been a week, and he’d been missing her terribly.
“I was in a meeting earlier. How’s your day?” he asked, hoping he didn’t sound like he was lying.
“I’m freaking tired already, but we’ve managed to secure our spot at top 20.” Lu Xinyi sighed as she flopped onto the bed. “Maybe agreeing to represent Silver Leaf was a bad idea.”
“You wouldn’t be able to get the chance to partic.i.p.ate next year. This is the perfect time for you to do whatever you want until you get pregnant.”

“I know we’ve agreed to try to have a baby, but why are you so eager, huh?”
Her mother used to tell her that a woman could choose her husband, but her children couldn’t choose their father. Choosing a good father for her future kids was the responsibility of a woman, and they shouldn’t take it lightly.
This was something Sun Meixiu learned from her parents’ failed marriage. Sun Meixiu hoped that her child would choose a great man who could love and respect her.
Shen Yi shrugged and looked at the side table. Their family photo was placed on top of it. It was taken during their wedding ceremony.
“I wanna see you,” he heard her say.
“It’s late over here. Don’t you have anything to do today?”
“It’s the weekend, and they allow us to rest. We’ll resume on Monday so I have nothing to do right now. Are you in bed?”
“Yes, but not sleeping yet.”
Shen Zichen’s fever finally lowered down much to his relief, but there was still some work he needed to finish tonight.
He heard a tapping sound of the keyboard on the other line. Lu Xinyi invited him for a video call which he accepted. He arched a brow when he saw that she was also lying on her stomach on her bed, eating something like biscuits.
“Eh? You’re twelve hours ahead meaning…” Lu Xinyi checked the time on her phone. “It’s past midnight over there. Hubby, go to sleep already!” She chastised him.
It was rare for her husband to take work at home, but whenever he did, she made sure that he wouldn’t work past nine in the evening. She then saw the glimpse of the twins sleeping peacefully next to her husband.
“I see they decided to sleep with you. Are they still sad?” she inquired. She let out a low laugh when she saw Little Yuyan’s leg lifted and fell on her twin brother’s torso.
“No. They aren’t crying anymore, but they still miss you. They are unusually silent and behaved these days,” Shen Yi told her.
