Of course, this wasn’t the first time that Sun Ruying offended someone but because she was a member of the Sun family, no one dared to humiliate her. Master Sun feigned a soft smile that belies the grief he held inside. Had he really spoiled this daughter too much that she couldn’t see that she was the one who started the problem?
“No, No! This couldn’t be happening.” Sun Ruying cried in panic. “I know! It’s all Lu Xinyi’s fault!”
“Ruying!” The old man roared. He was baffled that this daughter of his dare to accuse Xin’er of her own misfortune. If she hadn’t hurt Xin’er at the charity gala, Shen Yi wouldn’t come after her like this.
Startled by his sudden outburst, Sun Ruying stepped back.
“Haven’t you learned your lesson? If you want to lost everything, don’t drag the whole family down with you. If you couldn’t solve this problem then maybe you should stop messing around with people you shouldn’t be offended and leave our businesses on capable hands.” Master Sun slammed his cane several times, making loud thuds on the hardwood floor.
After speaking to his daughter, he returned to his bedroom like he had made a decision about something. Previously, he thought that after giving some of his a.s.sets to his children they would leave Xiao Xin alone but he was wrong. They had proved that they want everything and will do whatever was needed to keep Xiao Xin away from her inheritance
His daughter s.h.i.+vered in fright, she had never been scolded like this. What should she do? If she couldn’t solve this, she will lose face not only to her circle of friends but to the business community.

By the time Lu Xinyi woke up, it was already morning. Her husband lay beside her against the pillows, staring up at the ceiling. Glancing in her direction when she moved, Shen Yi cupped her cheek with his palm and run his thumb on the skin in a soothing manner. A tiny smirk crossed on his lips when she nuzzled on his palm, placing a kiss on his hand.
“Does it still hurt?”
“Not anymore.” Lu Xinyi smiled. “But I think I wouldn’t be able to walk and move freely these days. Who will look after my babies if we aren’t going home?”
The Shen Matriarch had allowed them to stay at the mansion until Lu Xinyi recovered from her injury. It will also give them time to know more about each other but the thought of leaving her fur babies alone made her sad.
“Xue will bring them to you later.” His hand roamed up and down her back as she settled her body next to him.
“I’m sorry about last night,” she murmured quietly, her gaze falling on one of the b.u.t.tons of his dress s.h.i.+rt.
“What is that you feel you must apologize for? You are the one who got hurt and humiliated.” Shen Yi gritted his teeth when he remembered the scene that welcomed him and his grandmother.
“If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t leave the party early.”
Shen Yi scoffed, such nonsense didn’t matter to him.
“They will be fine without me around. Besides you are my priority.”
Lu Xinyi shrugged.
“My injury isn’t that serious. You don’t have to spoil me besides, this wasn’t the first time Aunt Ruying hit me.” Her husband stiffened in her arms.
“They never treat you well?”
“It was always like that whenever she sees me. Always blaming me for something that I didn’t do. It was worse when I was staying with them after my mom died. It was only after my grandma Lu saw me with a bleeding arm that she decided to take me under her wing.”
Shen Yi held his wife closer, hiding the evil glint that flashed on his eyes. He will make sure that Sun Ruying will never get a chance to recover after taking everything from her.
Much later, Shen Yi helped his wife changed her party dress to a simple dress that was bought for her earlier. He then walked down the stairs with his wife on his arm and found the rest of his family sitting at the dining area and about to have breakfast when the two walked in.
Just like what her husband told her before, Lu Xinyi saw her two Akita dogs wagging their tails excitedly, waiting for her attention.
“How’s her injury? Is it still swollen?” Shen Huang asked, eyeing Shen Yi with a frown.
“Not too bad.” Shen Yi said quietly as he accepted a cup of coffee that his wife handed to him.
“Are you feeling better now, Xin’er?” Madam Shen inquired with a fond smile as she looked at her new granddaughter-in-law.
Lu Xinyi nodded politely. “Yes, I apologize for what happened last night. I didn’t expect that I will meet my aunt during the party.”
“It’s alright, dear. What matters is that you’re alright now.”
“It’s not a good time to meet you last night, Miss Lu. I’m Yi’s father by the way. You can call me Dad from now on since you’re now part of our family.” Shen Huang grinned to his eldest son which Shen Yi ignored.
“Good, very good. I hope your marriage will bring more blessings to our family” Madam Shen said happily. Her dear grandson eventually found a woman he will spend the rest of his life with. It seemed that Lu Xinyi was healthy enough to give several great-grandsons in the future. She was thrilled with the idea that their lonely home will be filled soon with waves of laughter.
Hearing her mother’s words, Shen Huang emitted loud laughter. Finally, he had won a bet against her mother. Shen Yi had finally found a wife and soon, the bets will be involved when Xin’er will give them little dumplings and buns in the future.
