Lu Xinyi wished she had stayed at the Shen Mansion and obeyed her husband wishes not to go outside. She wondered why she was attracting a lot of trouble lately. Was there a deity she offended that every time she went out, she encounters problems and unwanted persons?
See? Even Xia Yuhan thought she could help her with her love problems. Lu Xinyi wanted to go home. She was sure that her husband was on his way back and would be p.i.s.sed if he knew she left without calling him. She forgot to give him a call with all the shopping she and Xiao Lan made earlier.
“Don’t make a fool of yourself, Miss Xia. No man is worth losing your self-respect over. If he really loves you he will try to seek after you, not the other way around.” Xiao Lan said bluntly.
Xia Yuhan quickly resigned and went back to her seat.
Lu Xinyi was curious why Xia Yuhan was so affected by this man. If she already liked someone, why did Xia Yuhan tried to seek Shen Yi then?
“How long have you had this crush on him?” she asked in a low voice.
“Crush?” Xia Yuhan asked in a mixture of amus.e.m.e.nt and despair. “I’ve been in love with him for as long as I could remember. Back then, I thought it was just a mere crush that I can forget, but now… I just wish I could tell him how I feel for him before he marries someone and leaves for Silver Leaf.”
Now, that caught Lu Xinyi’s attention. The man didn’t seem like in the same league as her husband but he was also good looking in her opinion. Was he a student at Silver Leaf or one of the mentors?
Xia Yuhan closed her eyes when she felt a sudden pain on her chest at the thought that he was leaving her for good.
“Thank you for listening to my problems. I’m sorry for taking too much of your time. I’ll go now.” she whispered.
With a goodbye, Xia Yuhan turned to walk out of the cafe, her mind preoccupied with thoughts about the man she loved.
—
“Oh my G.o.d, I’m going to die. Shen Yi will kill me. What if he imprisons me and makes me his s.e.x slave? I hope he wouldn’t banish me to some sort of prison so that I will never see the daylight again.” Lu Xinyi waited for the stoplight to change into the go signal, while Xiao Lan was eating fries beside her.
Xiao Lan snorted and laughed at Lu Xinyi’s remarks.
“Why do I feel like you will enjoy instead? For some reason, you wouldn’t mind being imprisoned by him just to have s.e.x.”
“Ah, that because you will never see what I see, Xiao Lan. Some deliciousness he got there.” Lu Xinyi grinned back.
“Holy s.h.i.+t, Xinxin! Shen Yi is rubbing it too much on you! Gosh, we need to send you into quarantine.”
As much as she loved Shen Yi, Lu Xinyi wasn’t sure if her husband will be pleased on what she had done today. With all the purchases and shopping they did she had completely lost track of the time. It didn’t help that she had forgotten her own phone in their bedroom.
Shen Yi probably came home by now and no doubt thinking if something bad happened to her again.
“Relax, Shen Yi will give me a call if he didn’t see you at home. Everyone knows we went out together.”
If Xiao Lan was right, and she probably was, Shen Yi might give them a call sooner or later. Just when Lu Xinyi was about to turn right on the street, Xiao Lan’s phone began to ring loudly. Xiao Lan reached into her handbag and pulled out her phone, her eyes squinting on the screen.
“Speaking of the devil…” she said before picking up the call. “Hey, Shen Yi—”
“LU XINYI.”
Lu Xinyi almost lost control of the steering wheel when she heard the cold tone on her husband’s voice. s.h.i.+t. Was he really angry? h.e.l.l, yes, he was. He just called her by her full name. What did it mean? It means she was in big trouble.
“Hey, Darling. I was just thinking about you. Are you home?” She tried her best not to panic and answered Shen Yi when in reality she already broke in a cold sweat.
“Where are you?”
“I went out with Xiao Lan. Give us fifteen minutes and we will be home.”
“Make it quick.” Then there was a loud click before the line went dead.
“Prepare your peace offerings for the devil.” Xiao Lan laughed.
Lu Xinyi laughed awkwardly, her fingers tapping the steering wheel in panic.
“I think you might be right.”
The rest of the drive home was in complete silence. Lu Xinyi kept her eyes on the road and tried to take the easiest route back home. After they made some detours, they finally made it back to the Shen Mansion.
