“You’re a good cook. Why don’t you try taking culinary courses?” Shen Yi asked.

He wasn’t looking at her but was busy digging on his fried rice. Ah, if Lu Xinyi can cook something like this, what else can she cook for him? His chopsticks stopped mid-air as he realized something. Lu Xinyi had done the same thing for Gong Yijun before.

But not anymore, Lu Xinyi wouldn’t come back for that man for sure.

Lu Xinyi’s smile vanished and Shen Yi felt he’d asked the wrong question.

“Ah, I did send my entrance exam application to Silver Leaf Academy two months ago but I haven’t received any confirmation if I got a slot.”

Silver Leaf Academy?

Wasn’t that one of the prestigious culinary school in the Country? What’s more, it was pretty expensive and the entrance examinations were hard to pa.s.s.

Shen Yi brought down his chopsticks and stared at his wife. It would be easy for him to get a slot for Lu Xinyi but he wasn’t sure if she would appreciate it.

“Shen Yi, I know what you’re thinking.” Lu Xinyi said bitterly.

“Even if I can get you a slot for the examination, it will depend on you if you can make it or not.”

“I know.”

Lu Xinyi took a deep breath. She already expected it. When she sent her application at the same time with Meng Jiao, she wasn’t hopeful that the Academy will give her a chance. She was planning to apply for a scholars.h.i.+p if ever she was accepted.

Although that didn’t mean she wasn’t affected when Meng Jiao received her acceptance letter a month after they sent the application. She was heartbroken but she was happy that Meng Jiao was able to get in.

They ate in silence, Lu Xinyi, who was usually a chatterbox during their meals didn’t mind it at all. She was glad that in spite of the fact that they didn’t marry because of love, Shen Yi deeply cares about her.

After silently finis.h.i.+ng their breakfast, Lu Xinyi took the dishes into the sink.

“You don’t have to do that.” she heard Shen Yi’s voice from the living area.

Following the voice where he was, Lu Xinyi saw him trying to adjust his necktie with no success. He grumbled, irritated that he couldn’t tie a mean tie. He was a little grumpy and it looked like he was about to destroy his poor tie.

“Madam Jin will come at any minute now. She’s our housekeeper and she’s a.s.signed to keep everything clean and to make sure your dogs will have their meals at the right time.” Shen Yi explained before giving up and throwing his necktie on the couch.

“Stupid tie,” he muttered under his breath. He’d tried to make it work several times earlier but he failed each time.

“So I see,” Lu Xinyi should be given a medal for managing to contain her laughter while looking at her husband’s face. She never thought that a necktie is one of Shen Yi’s mortal enemies.

“A president that couldn’t tie his own necktie?” she teased while picking up the discarded tie on the couch.

“Don’t like them and I prefer not to use one,” he admitted.

“So what changed now?” Lu Xinyi asked, taking a step before him and had started to fix his collar. She expertly flipped it up, smoothened the fabric along his neck and began fixing the tie for him. She worked in practiced movement, making a perfect knot with his tie.

“An important meeting this afternoon.”

Shen Yi stared down on her silently, appreciating that she didn’t have a hard time adjusting on her new life as his wife.

‘Gong Yijun, you’re a fool for ditching Lu Xinyi for a wh.o.r.e. But that’s okay, she’s mine now.’

His hand came to her small back and pushed her closer to him. Lu Xinyi’s eyes slightly widened before sharpening on his antics. She made his tie a little tighter on his neck.

“Darling, are you trying to kill me?” Shen Yi was least bothered at Lu Xinyi’s glare.

Lu Xinyi adjusted his tie properly before releasing it.

“Of course not, dear. But I will be wary where you should put your hands.”

But Shen Yi refused to release her from his embrace.

She then ran her hands down his coat, undid the b.u.t.tons that he b.u.t.toned wrong.

“What are your plans for today?” he asked.

“Hmm… I’m going to Amusing Plate Patisserie to resign and probably will have to talk with my ex-best friend.” Satisfied with her work, she looked up from fixing his clothes and gave him a wink.

Lu Xinyi could have sworn he blushed a little but Shen Yi was quick to hide it.

“I have a phone, you have a phone number. Can you think of the possibilities between us?” He smirked while she rolled her eyes. Shen Yi was on it again.

“I have a sandal, you have a face. Can you think of the casualties?” Lu Xinyi retorted. She was fuming in rage.

“Hey, I seriously don’t have your number and I need it.” Shen Yi laughed. “But you’re good. You’re learning well from me.” he patted her head.

“Yes, yes. You’re such a good teacher, my love.”

They were lost on their own worlds that they didn’t hear the front door opened. An older woman watching the two of them bantering. She was stupefied at the scene in front of her. Only when her handbag fell on the floor did the couple notice her presence on the doorway.
