When Lu Xinyi finished her first lesson from He Haotian, she helped the new staff clean the kitchen for an hour before she noticed her husband was missing.
The traitor had run to save himself! Where the heck did he go this time?
She leaned against one of the kitchen counters as she ate some fried rice He Haotian cooked for her earlier. She hadn’t eaten since noon, but she wasn’t that hungry. Her thoughts remained on how their life would change in a few days.
Would she and Shen Yi be okay? It seemed strange to her that after months of being married, she was so attuned with Shen Yi that she doubted that she could last a long time without him.
She sighed and placed her now-empty bowl in the sink. Pulling her phone from her pocket, she saw that her husband had texted her, saying he’d got something to do.
Something to do? She thought. Perhaps he was just trying to avoid her after that betrayal!
The message was sent an hour ago, coincidentally, the same time she finished that disgusting lesson. Lu Xinyi rolled her eyes. He wouldn’t get away easily next time.
Lu Xinyi bid goodbye to her mentor and kitchen crew to go back at Peach Blossom Resort alone. Shen Yi never said if he’d be back soon, but as soon as she stepped outside Grace Palace Restaurant, she saw him waiting with a bag of food in one hand.
“Is that your peace offering for ditching me earlier?” Lu Xinyi leaned on the frame of the main gate of the restaurant. Her brow arched at her husband feigning innocence from his early betrayal. “You’re trying to bribe me with food again?”
“I found some coconut avocado popsicles in a nearby convenience store. Like some?” Shen Yi lifted his hand, showing her some popsicles inside.
Lu Xinyi scowled. This man thought he could easily get away from his punishment?
“No, I don’t like it. A moment of challenge and you easily sold me out?” She huffed, irritated that she wasn’t able to get away unscathed from He Haotian’s torture.
“Well, I suppose anyone wouldn’t like to drink it. Congratulations, Xinxin. You were able to pa.s.s your first lesson.” Shen Yi tried to persuade her to forget about it but was unsuccessful once her frown deepened.
“Not gonna fall for that, President Shen!”
“Eh? Then what do I need to do for you to forgive me?”
Lu Xinyi tapped her chin and thought for a moment. If she named something material, Shen Yi could easily get it in one flick of his fingers. She should think of something that he had no control off.
“You can’t give me everything! You aren’t G.o.d, Even if I ask you to make it snow, you won’t be able to provide it,” she finally answered.
Shen Yi just stared at her blankly before pulling out his phone out of his coat and calling someone. His eyes glued on his wife.
“Send me a private jet within half an hour.”
Lu Xinyi almost choked on what she heard. ‘What?!’
She then realized what it meant. Since Shen Yi couldn’t give her snow, he would bring her to wherever there would be. d.a.m.n it! Her husband was too cunning.
One who knew both of them would think that she would get used to her husband’s atrocious att.i.tude but no. He was right there standing in the middle of the road, demanding whoever who was in the other line to bring him a private jet.
Lu Xinyi mentally kicked herself for being so naive. Of course, Shen Yi would be able to find to beat her. She wasn’t sure whether she wanted to kick him out of their bed tonight or laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation they were in.
Just like that, Lu Xinyi found herself inside the cabin of the private jet with Shen Yi.
She kept her silence and scowled back on her husband enjoying his drink, his legs crossed as if taunting her for underestimating his capabilities.
“Until when do you plan to give me the silent treatment? You even ignored the popsicles I bought for you.” Shen Yi broke the silence between them.
“Sneaky b.a.s.t.a.r.d,” Lu Xinyi muttered under her breath.
The interior of the jet was nothing like the time she’d flown with commercial flights before. Back then, she’d been sitting at the back of the plane; and the whole ride was so b.u.mpy it gave her nightmares so badly. It hadn’t been an experience she’d wanted to repeat.
Come to think of it, when she married Shen Yi, even when he decided to take public transport, everything was going so smooth; and they’d never encountered a problem so far. She squinted her eyes at her husband. Shen Yi was always one step ahead of her.
“How long is this flight? And where are you going to take me?” she asked.
“A short one. We’ll arrive shortly in two hours. We can go back tomorrow morning at the resort if you want.”
Lu Xinyi looked outside her window and saw that the sky was darkening. They would reach their destination by evening then. Looking around her, she was impressed with the interior of the private jet.
Soft golden lighting filled the cabin. The ceiling was high enough to accommodate a tall person like Shen Yi. There were no overhead compartments that made the place so crowded. Instead, more lights were placed into the ceiling. The floor had been lined with beautiful carpeting.
Shen Yi’s private jet was nicer than her old apartment a year ago.
Too tired to argue with Shen Yi, Lu Xinyi decided to doze off. She only woke up when she heard the pilot’s voice crackling over the intercom.
“Xinxin, wakeup. We’re on our final approach.”
She followed her husband’s gaze outside, only to find that the plane was descending on a private island.
