“Mingai! Ruying! What’s the meaning of this?! Why you never told me that Mei’er came here before?” Chairman Sun exploded with anger and slammed his fist on his desk. When he heard about his daughter’s pa.s.sing, he was in the middle of a business trip and rushed to come home.
Lu Xinyi’s eyes sharpened on his reaction. What kind of father wouldn’t dare to seek the truth about his child’s death? Did he really believe that her mother only encountered an accident after meeting her sisters?
Sun Feiyan’s face dimmed at the commotion. It was hard for Lu Xinyi to comprehend what was on her mind.
“Dad, indeed Mei’er came here to talk to you; but we didn’t chase her out. Xin’er must be still mad about what happened to her mother.” Sun Mingai could feel her sweat forming on her palms.
d.a.m.n, Lu Xinyi! She just came back and dropped a problem on the spot.
“Sister is right, Dad. Why would we chase her out? When she asked for help, we told her not to worry about her husband and go back to Xin’er. We’ve never thought that it will also be the last time we’ll see her alive,” Sun Ruying added.
Lu Xinyi was appalled at these women’s acting. It was disgusting to watch these two pretend that they cared about her mother.
“Such a reunion we have here,” Lu Xinyi nonchalantly said, “Where’s Qiushan anyway? Shouldn’t she be here?”
At the mention of her sister’s name, Sun Qiyan blanched. Neither she nor Xi Yunchuan had found her yet.
The old man finally noticed that one of his granddaughters hadn’t shown up yet.
“Qiyan, where’s your sister? Didn’t I tell you to remind her to attend today?” he asked.
“She hasn’t come back yet,” Sun Qiyan nervously replied. “I’ll give her a call later, Chairman.”
Lu Xinyi chuckled inwardly. Of course, they wouldn’t be able to find her unless Sun Qiyan followed her own sister ten feet beneath the ground. Sun Qiushan was dead, and none of them—except Lu Xinyi—knew what had happened to her.
She sneered at Sun Qiyan’s words. Still wouldn’t admit that her sister was missing?
Meanwhile, both of her aunts were staring at her menacingly as if they couldn’t wait for her to make a mistake so they could humiliate her.
“Then, what brings you here, Lu Xinyi? Don’t tell me you want to bring troubles to our family again?” Sun Ruying snorted disdainfully, her eldest daughter still clinging at her, forcing her to calm down.
Instead of regarding her aunt, Lu Xinyi turned her attention back to Chairman Sun.
“What? I’m not allowed to visit now, old man?”
“This is still your home, Xin’er,” he replied with a calm tone before shooting his daughter a warning glare. “Is this how you should treat your niece, Ruying? Xin’er is kind enough to visit us, and you also want to chase her away?”
The woman shut her mouth and was taken aback at how her father favored Lu Xinyi over them. Was this old man still bear a guilty conscience for his deceased daughter?
Lu Xinyi shook her head and sighed.
“This isn’t my home. If anything, this place couldn’t be compared at what I have at the Imperial Residences,” she said mockingly.
The place she shared with her husband was perfectly suited for their lifestyle and needs. They were able to take care of her white tiger in the city because of its favorable location and tight security.
Imperial Residences?! Did they hear her right?
“This… Lu Xinyi, you are lying!” Sun Qiyan refused to believe that Lu Xinyi was once again beaten her. She’d been trying to buy a property on the Imperial Residence to boost her influence and popularity but failed every time.
Even if the Sun family was part of the Big 5 families of the capital, they weren’t able to secure land in that place. Imperial Residences was one of the most luxurious subdivisions that settled at the heart of the capital. Most people regarded it as a paradise within a city.
No matter how they tried to buy a property at Imperial Residences, they were always declined with several reasons from its unknown owner. Out of the Big 5 families, only the Shens and the Lis were able to buy a property in it.
Too bad for the Sun family, they would never know that the Imperial Residences—where the most luxurious villas in the capital—could be found was owned by Shen Yi himself. Why would he allow the Sun family to get closer to his wife anyway?
Even if it was true that she was residing at Imperial Residence, there was no way in h.e.l.l that Lu Xinyi could afford to buy a place from it! It must be Shen Yi who gifted her the place as her lover.
“I’m lying?” Lu Xinyi smirked and took her copy of the house keys from her red purse and twirled it on her finger. Unlike the usual keys that were traditional and metallic, Lu Xinyi’s house keys were golden keycards with a symbol of Imperial Residences on them.
“Qiyan, feel free to visit me at Villa no. 29. I’ll be waiting for you. Oh, if you still suspect I’m lying, you can ask someone to check who the owner of that villa is. I’m pretty sure he’ll find my name on it.” She looked around, and her nose twitched, “This place stinks; are you sure y’all cleaning it properly? Aunty Ruying, you better make sure your servants are doing their job because it smells like someone has died here. The stench is making me puke.”
Lu Xinyi enjoyed how her aunts’ faces turned from green to red, to black. They must be really mad at her provocation. Her eyes swept to the old man, curious as to why he was letting her trash talk his own daughters. She still couldn’t understand why he was insisting for her to come home when it was obvious that his other children hated her down to their bones.
Unlike their aunts and Sun Qiyan, Sun Feiyan calmly sat beside Lu Xinyi and hadn’t commented once. It was like she had expected this to happen and have been enjoying the show Lu Xinyi brought for her to enjoy.
On the other hand, Lu Xinyi had failed to notice the l.u.s.tful look Zuo Yin was giving her. He licked his lips and clenched his hands behind him as he tried to hide his desire for this Sun heiress he just met.
