Lu Xinyi had brought the twins with her to inspect the newest branch of Flair Apparel at Cloud Mall which was owned by the Shen family. With Flair Apparel’s success, their branches were starting to spread out from the capital to the outskirts of the neighboring cities.
Before going to her new store, Lu Xinyi had taken the twins for lunch and bought them several sets of new clothes and toys for them to use. Behind them were Fu Rui and Jiao Jiao. The man was grumpy as it was almost painful for him to follow Lu Xinyi and the Shen twins in their shopping while Jiao Jiao’s eyes sparkled at the different outfits she’d seen at the showrooms of the shops.
Entering Flair Apparel’s newest branch, Lu Xinyi saw that there were only a few customers in the store that afternoon. Some store staff were busy checking on the new arrivals in order to accurately and rapidly introduce the highlights of the clothes to the customers upon their request.
Lu Xinyi checked her watch. It was almost two in the afternoon, and Xia Yuhan was nowhere to be found. Didn’t her designer say she would be there to oversee how the staff work and check the inventory of the store?
One of the store attendants noticed their arrival and greeted them politely. She led Lu Xinyi and the twins to the array of clothes, asking Lu Xinyi what sort of dress she was looking for. Lu Xinyi raised a brow but didn’t say anything. Most staff of Flair Apparel still thought that Xia Yuhan was still the owner. For some, they might only know Lu Xinyi as one of Flair Apparel’s Brand Amba.s.sador.
“Ah, yes. I’m here to check if there’s something I could use for the event I’ll be attending soon,” she replied as she settled on a vacant seat with the twins.
“Oh, I think we have several gowns and dresses that will fit you, Miss.” The attendant clapped her hands excitedly and gave Lu Xinyi a brochure showing the latest dress released by Flair Apparel.
Lu Xinyi thanked the woman and checked the brochure she knew too well while the twins busied themselves by checking the dresses on the mannequins. Just then, two women entered the store. It was Chu Ting, and beside her was a more popular actress accompanying her—Yao Zhelan.
Lu Xinyi had noticed them before the two entered her shop and knew that they were up to no good. She could easily deal with Chu Ting, but Yao Zhelan was also an influential star. People adored her and listened to her words. It would be bad if she said inappropriate things about Flair Apparel.
“Sis Zhelan, why do you want to check Flair Apparel? Their quality couldn’t be on par with Starlight. Tell you what, let me call Qiyan so we could visit their store. What do you think?” Chu Ting was sweet-talking to Yao Zhelan and looked around Flair Apparel in disgust.
Shen Yuyan, who was playing with her brother, ran towards the entrance and accidentally b.u.mped on Chu Ting. The girl landed on her b.u.t.t and cried.
“Brat! Look at where you are going!” Chu Ting screamed at her.
“I-I’m sorry!” The young girl wailed louder after being yelled at. Lu Xinyi stood up from her seat and glared at Chu Ting’s way.
How dare she bully her daughter in her presence, in her own place? The b.i.t.c.h was courting her own death!
“Stop crying! Just what kind of nasty place is this, letting a snotty brat play inside?” Chu Ting continued.
“Chu Ting, she’s just a kid. Don’t scare her.” Yao Zhelan held Chu Ting’s arm. Her eyes lifted up when she heard footsteps coming their way. She saw Lu Xinyi with a blank expression on her face, striding towards them.
Yao Zhelan narrowed her eyes. So this was the infamous Lu Xinyi who charmed the demon king.
Chu Ting ignored her words and lifted her hand to hit Shen Yuyan who was still slumped on the floor crying when a low dangerous voice stopped her hand mid-air.
“You dare to raise a hand at a Shen family member? Miss Chu, I didn’t think you can be this cruel to a child.” Lu Xinyi crossed her arms in her chest, her eyes daring Chu Ting to continue what she was about to do to Little Yuyan.
Chu Ting lowered her hand and grinned upon seeing Lu Xinyi. She hadn’t forgotten how this woman and Tang Lilou shamed her during the Sun Corporation’s anniversary party.
“Oh, Lu Xinyi. What do we have here? I didn’t know you are willing to play babysitter to the Shens to further cement your relations.h.i.+p with President Shen,” she taunted.
Upon mentioning Lu Xinyi’s relations.h.i.+p with Shen Yi, Yao Zhelan’s eyes darkened. She was itching to tear Lu Xinyi into pieces.
“And you are still the same, Miss Chu. You keep spouting nonsense. No wonder President Shen never paid attention to you,” the little devil retorted before bending down on her knees to pick up the crying girl from the ground.
“Hush, darling. No one will hurt you when I’m here,” she told Shen Yuyan before accepting a clean hanky from Shen Zichen who appeared beside her.
Hearing Lu Xinyi insulting her again, Chu Ting asked, “What are you talking about, b.i.t.c.h? If there’s someone here who should be ashamed of throwing herself to President Shen, it should be you!”
Her rude remark made one curious about where the well-bred Chu Ting had gone. As soon as Chu Ting called Lu Xinyi a b.i.t.c.h, all the customers inside the shop have their eyes focused on them. In spite of her being a B-rated actress, she was still from the prominent Chu family from the Capital City.
The Chu family, which apparently where Lu Xinyi’s mentor—He Haotian, came from was known in the food and restaurant industry within the country. They owned several popular restaurant chains, but their net worth was far from the Big 5 families of the capital.
Chu Ting was a far distant relative of her mentor. That was why Lu Xinyi tried to avoid making troubles with her and the Chu family, but it would be a different matter if Chu Ting hurt Shen Yuyan.
Chu Ting looked at Lu Xinyi from head to toe, seeing her wearing a plain white chiffon blouse and a short black skirt, emphasizing her feminine figure.
“You’re so ugly. I wonder what President Shen sees in you,” she added.
Fu Rui and Jiao Jiao noticed the commotion inside the store and stepped in. Lu Xinyi shook her head to them before giving Little Yuyan to Jiao Jiao to take away as she dealt with her unwanted visitors.
“Great. I was trying to look like you today. Seems like I’ve achieved my goal by being ugly,” Lu Xinyi retorted once she was sure that the twins were out of earshot.
“Why, you!” Chu Ting was seething in anger while Yao Zhelan kept her silence behind her.
“Miss Chu should take a good look in the mirror before calling someone a b.i.t.c.h. I’m pretty sure I’m not the one in here who’d spread her legs for different men before. Please do not cross the line.”
Lu Xinyi then glanced at Yao Zhelan. She was pretty sure that this woman wasn’t as stupid as Chu Ting.
