After their conversation, Lu Xinyi went back to the bridal room with a huge smile on her face. Seeing her like this, Zhang Jingwei and her friends released a sigh. It seemed like her presence was enough to calm Shen Yi’s nerves.
Lu Xinyi sat obediently as she watched her friends and her mother-in-law bustled around her as they put finis.h.i.+ng touches on their attires. It was at this moment that Xiao Lan came with her baby in her arms.
Lu Xinyi’s eyes lit up. She rose to her feet, and met her friend halfway. She wasn’t really expecting Xiao Lan to attend her wedding ceremony, given that she’d recently given birth to a son.
“You came.” Her eyes were a little watery from happiness. After Meng Jiao’s betrayal, Xiao Lan was the first friend she gained.
“How could you, Madam Shen?! You can’t start your wedding ceremony without me.” Xiao Lan harrumphed but grinned as she saw the amus.e.m.e.nt on Lu Xinyi’s face when she stared at her sleeping baby’s face.
“Oh, I know I already said this before, but he looks adorable.” Lu Xinyi told her. She was really tempted to pinch those chubby cheeks but was afraid to make the baby cry.
“Heh? Don’t tell me, Madam Shen is jealous of me? Hohoho.” Xiao Lan teased her. “If you think babies are adorable, then you start making your own with Shen Yi.”
“Eh? Xiao Lan, I didn’t know you already given birth.” Xia Yuhan came next to her boss to take a peek at Xiao Lan’s baby. The baby stirred on her mother’s arms but didn’t wake up instead; it only yawned big and returned to its peaceful slumber.
“What? Does the tsundere girl also want a baby? Mou, that would be hard.” Xiao Lan laughed evilly.
“W-what did you say?!” Xia Yuhan stared at her incredulously. Really, her boss’s circle of friends was a weird one. So how did she end up being one of them? It couldn’t possibly because she was also weird as they were.
“Say, Xia Yuhan, do you need help with my matchmaking services?” The wink that Xiao Lan threw her way made Xia Yuhan s.h.i.+ver.
“Oh ho? Miss Xia needs a boyfriend?” Yuan Jin joined their conversation, which further irritated the designer. He grinned as he looked at Xia Yuhan.
Xia Yuhan snorted and turned her head away, crossing her arms on her chest.
“No thanks. It’s fun being single. I certainly don’t need a man and don’t want to have a baby anytime soon! Hmph!”
Anyway, she had no time to date. With the next season just around the corner, she’d be busy preparing the next collection for Flair Apparel.
The room was then filled with their laughter while Little Yuan started picking up the flower petals on the floor one by one; they fell from her basket.
After what seemed like hours, Lu Xinyi was ready to walk the aisle; but before that, she was subjected to hugs and kisses from her friends and her mother-in-law until her brother and Lady Tang came to her rescue.
Originally, Tian Lingyu should be the only one walking Lu Xinyi in the aisle, but with Shen Yi’s suggestion, Lu Xinyi would be walking with her Grandmother Tang and her brother. Tian Lingyu didn’t seem to mind the sudden change as long as it would make his sister happy.
“Are you ready, dear?” Lady Tang, who had somehow recovered a little from her illness, walked towards her and held her hand. Behind her, Tian Lingyu—who was wearing a tux—waited patiently for her.
“Yes, she is, Lady Tang,” Zhang Jingwei said with a bright smile as she walked over with Lu Xinyi’s friends to leave. “Come on, ladies. We can’t be late. The wedding is about to start.”
As they left the room, Lu Xinyi was left with her daughter, her brother, and Tang Lingfei.
“I’m ready. Maybe we should go now,” she told her grandmother before accepting the hand her brother offered to her while her other hand was claimed by Little Yuyan who was trying to balance her basket filled with petals.
As they stepped out of the room, Lu Xinyi glanced at her grandmother and beamed a smile.
“Grandmother, thank you for making my big day special.”
Tang Lingfei was stunned by her granddaughter’s words. Their little Xinxin had finally acknowledged her as her family!
Jia Ling, who was standing behind her lady, started to weep. She knew how hard it had been for Tang Lingfei to live, knowing her daughter had died and her granddaughter out of her reach.
Recovering from her shock, Tang Lingfei nodded at Lu Xinyi with watery eyes. She shut her eyes and let a tear roll down her face.
“Anything for you, Xin’er,” she said once she opened her eyes, still seeing the smile on Lu Xinyi’s lips.
Following her friends, Lu Xinyi together with her brother and her grandmother walked a slower pace while Little Yuyan ran ahead of them to meet her twin brother.
“Darling, please watch your steps!” Lu Xinyi called out, earning a resounding yes from her cute daughter, dressed in a mini version of her white wedding dress.
Little Yuyan had insisted on wearing the same dress as her mother, which Shen Yi easily agreed on to avoid another round of crying from his daughter.
Tian Lingyu offered his arm which Lu Xinyi easily accepted. Her appearance made her resemble her mother more. He sighed inwardly. Their father must be regretting not being able to give Xinxin her first wedding dance and walk with her at the aisle as she married the man she fell in love with.
“Are you nervous?” he asked her as he noticed how she took a deep breath before leaving the bridal room.
“A little bit, but I’m fine,” Lu Xinyi admitted with a small smile as her grandmother adjusted the veil that crumpled on her shoulder.
Tian Lingyu patted her hand gently and smiled at her.
“No one will notice your nervousness because you’ll knock out everyone from shock with how beautiful you are today.”
“Ay, why does it sound that on normal days, I’m not beautiful in your eyes?” She pouted.
Her expression made her brother laugh more. His sister might be able to annoy him to death, but who said that he could leave her in peace without retaliating on her mischievousness? Tian Lingyu liked it the best when Lu Xinyi was fuming in anger, ready to throw the nearest thing to her hand.
“Of course, Sis. You may be able to fool others with your appearance, but the guest wouldn’t probably know that you’d taken off your horns today to appear angelic in their eyes,” he said with a wide smirk.
“Such a good older brother that I have!” She groaned in response.
Lady Tang shook her head. Ah, it’s a good thing that Lu Sibai’s adopted son seemed to get along pretty well with their family’s Xin’er.
Moments later, Lu Xinyi found herself walking down the aisle beside her brother with Lady Tang on her left side. She clutched Tian Lingyu’s arm tightly as she felt a wave of nervousness rus.h.i.+ng over her.
In response, Tian Lingyu squeezed her hand gently to remind her that she’d be fine as they continued to walk towards the altar where Shen Yi stood and waiting.
