This time Lu Xinyi really laughed out loud. What kind of bulls.h.i.+t this old woman was talking about? Her mother was a saint; she wasn’t. She had provoked her today, and surely Sun Mingai would retaliate sooner or later. However, her revenge wouldn’t stop here. This was just only the beginning of the fall of the Sun family.
“n.o.body says I’m her, Lady Sun. In fact, people always say that my mother was too kind and forgiving. She was able to tolerate your scheme for too long, but I wouldn’t. Please, if you don’t mind, leave me and Feiyan. I just asked your secretaries to clear this room. I don’t like garbage to stay longer.”
Sun Mingai’s face turned white. She took a deep breath and calmed herself. This Meixiu’s daughter… she’d underestimated her.
“And you know about this?!” Sun Mingai then turned her anger towards Sun Feiyan.
Sun Feiyan looked away and refused to meet her aunt’s glaring eyes. Yes, she was aware of this from the beginning. When she and Chen Anqi found out that the company was being lured in by a sh.e.l.l company, they were suspicious; but why would she inform Sun Mingai about this?
“I have nothing to do with this, Aunt Ruying. Just like you, I was surprised that Xinxin was the one behind this,” she muttered.
The media gathered outside the building, and Zhang Qing and Fu Rui had to escort Lu Xinyi using the backdoor. They didn’t waste time and left, watching the media block the main entrance.
Lu Xinyi wasn’t worried that the news would affect her. Her Grandmother Tang would sure block the negative news about her if anyone dared to taint her reputation.
Now, it was time for her to settle the issue with Chairman Sun.
Of course, the news about Lu Xinyi being the newest CEO reached Chairman Sun, and he was ecstatic. This was the best news he’d heard so far and couldn’t wait to meet his granddaughter. The Sun Corporation was in such a turbulent situation, and the most important thing to do at the moment was to stabilize the morale and pacify the worries of their shareholders.
The stock market had not yet closed. After the news broke out, Sun Liuxian felt it was gratifying to see that the Sun share price actually stabilized. This had given the shareholders some a.s.surance for the time being.
He’d always wanted to convince Lu Xinyi to return to the family and learn the ways of managing their family business. It was just he didn’t expect that like her daughter, Meixiu, Lu Xinyi had a natural talent in managing businesses.
Who hadn’t heard how popular her businesses were these days?
From Flair Apparel to restaurants and pastry shops, Lu Xinyi was now considered one of the wealthiest women within the capital. For the past year, her name slowly became popular not only because of cooking skills but her affiliation with Shen Yi.
However, that didn’t mean the public hadn’t seen this joke played on the Sun family.
At the Sun Estate, Sun Liuxian was sitting alone in his wheelchair inside his study, waiting for Lu Xinyi to arrive. After months of not seeing each other, he wondered what had changed her mind to visit him. This was the nth time that he glanced at his watch, waiting for his granddaughter.
Suddenly, the door opened by his a.s.sistant; and Lu Xinyi stepped inside without a word. The old man was surprised to see her hair cut short, and the way she dressed made her more look like her deceased mother.
The a.s.sistant left to give them some privacy while Lu Xinyi’s eyes swept around the room and saw the family portrait hanging on the wall on her right side.
The man sitting in the middle was her grandfather, but he looked younger. The woman sitting next to him…Lu Xinyi wasn’t familiar with her. However, the children standing behind them, she recognized them as her aunts born from the mistress of her grandfather.
Ads by PubFuture Returning her gaze to the woman, it finally dawned upon her who it was.
So this was s.h.i.+ Yimu. Lu Xinyi thought.
For her grandfather to hang this family portrait on his study, what kind of face he was giving her? Wasn’t this the biggest slap he’d done not only to her but to her mother and Grandmother Tang?
In the end, Tang Lingfei was right. This mad man only thought for himself. In his eyes, she, her mother, and Tang Lingfei were just p.a.w.ns to save the company; but what he really considered as his family was s.h.i.+ Yimu and their children.
Cold fury filled her chest. Her mother, she was also his child; and yet he never dared to seek justice for her death. If it wasn’t for Sun Ruying, Lu Xinyi would never find out the miserable end of her mother.
Killed by her own sisters, abandoned by her own father… just the thought was enough to make Lu Xinyi’s blood boil in anger.
“What took you so long? Does your aunt give you a hard time handing over the responsibilities?” Chairman Sun asked her after the prolonged silence between them.
His tone was gentle, but it wasn’t enough to thaw the coldness on Lu Xinyi’s heart.
Lu Xinyi didn’t speak, but her jaws hardened. Her cold eyes were her best answer to that. Without saying a word, her face was obviously one with contempt as she walked forward and stood near the window of his study.
“I came here to tell you some news you might be interested to hear,” she said casually.
“I already heard that the board of directors approved you to become the CEO.”
Chairman Sun said it with such pride and happiness that Lu Xinyi could help but throw back her head and laugh.
“Aren’t you going to congratulate me then? Any rewards would be appreciated.” She hummed and tapped her chin.
The old man seemed to agree with her and opened the top drawer on his desk. He took a small black velvet box and placed it on the table.
“Take this then. You’ve proven yourself worthy of becoming a Sun princess.” He pushed the box towards her.
Lu Xinyi’s smile disappeared and moved closer to take the box. Upon opening it, her eyes were blessed by the ornament exclusive for the Sun family. This was the same brooch that her mother had given her before she pa.s.sed away. The same brooch that Sun Feiyan had forcefully taken from her during her stay at this mansion.
“Are you sure you’re giving this to me? Didn’t you already bestow it to Feiyan before?” she asked. She held the box tighter as if afraid that the old man would s.n.a.t.c.h it back from her hands.
Sun Liuxian smiled and clasped his hands together.
“If you are worried that I’ll take it back from you to give it to Yan’er, you don’t have to worry about it. This is yours. No one will take it back. Didn’t your mother give this to you? This has always belonged to you,” he explained. Now that Lu Xinyi joined their family business and proved her worth as his granddaughter, he couldn’t be any happier than this.
