Resting on her Macabre Moose as her group approached Tyre, Elizabeth was still trying to close the gap in her hands. Yet even though they were only six inches apart, it was like trying to jam a square block into a circular opening. Still, progress was progress — no matter how small it appeared — and even if it seemed like the process would take days, weeks, or even months, Elizabeth didn"t show a bit of impatience. "Why bother ruminating on how long it will take when I could be concentrating on actually doing it?" was her general mindset for these kinds of things.

Sadly, she was jolted from her concentration as the sight of Tyre"s city walls were coming into view. Sighing, Elizabeth retracted her s.p.a.ce and Time Magic back to her Dantian, losing what would amount to negligible quant.i.ties of energy due to her Seamless Magic Connection. Thinking proactively, Elizabeth decided it would be best to hide her Tamed Beasts; if only temporarily. The last thing she wanted was to be considered an enemy, after all.

So, with only a brisk couple of kilometers to jog, she approached the first city she had found in another dimension. As she got closer, her eyes slightly widened as she registered the true size of the city"s walls. Easily reaching over a hundred meters tall and probably a couple meters dense as well, it made for a sight she could only find in the joy of her previous life; RPGs. Getting closer still, Elizabeth slowed down her car-like pace of 60 kilometers per hour as she came across the sight of a line.

"Mhmm… I guess this is to be expected?" She said, sounding a bit unsure of herself. Having already stored away the supplementary Quartzite Armor from her current apparel, Elizabeth put herself in the line to enter the city. She didn"t know how Tyre was connected to the Agrian Empire and going by the reaction of the first resident of this dimension she came across who mistook her for being a part of the Agrian Empire, it was probably best to not give off any impressions.

Thankfully, the line moved along at a brisk pace, such that Elizabeth never truly had to stop and eventually, she came across what appeared to be guards for the city. "Daced izaracem ra ebil tas calic buti olepas?" The man asked, prompting Elizabeth to manifest her Basic Translation spell. A pure white Magic Circle the size of a pin needle manifested at the tip of her right index finger and after targeting the guards, Elizabeth said, "Sorry, could you repeat that again." Since perfecting the Basic Translation Spell, she no longer required that the targets for the spell"s activation come into contact with the Magic Circle.

Taking a step closer to Elizabeth, he said, "Tsk, I said, to pay up the fee for entering the city or to get lost. Get it?"

Ignoring the blatant look of annoyance on the guard"s face, Elizabeth calmly asked, "What"s the fee? I"m not from here..." Her expression was as still as the waters of a lake.

Now squinting his eyes with clear hostility, the guard said, "10 Silver..."

Shrugging her shoulders Elizabeth materialized the core of a Level 10 Peak Phase p.a.w.n Stage Monster. Asking, "Is this enough?" Oblivious to the currency system of this world, she brought out something that was almost entirely useless to her, but should still carry some amount of value given the immediate surroundings.

"What trash are you..." His words were cut off as the light of realization sp.a.w.ned in his eyes. Staring right at the small black core in Elizabeth"s hand, the man froze as he registered the quality of the energy emanating therefrom. "Is that a… Monster Core?" Now pale, the man stiffly rose his face to meet Elizabeth eye to eye.

"Sure is~" Amused, Elizabeth chirped back.

"..." The guard was distraught, thinking, "What the f.u.c.k is this situation?" He was met with what looked to be a teenage girl who looked no older than eighteen and after treating her like a worthless peasant she flashed him one of the most expensive treasures within the city; a p.a.w.n Stage Monster Core.

"Uh… Ms… This Monster Core… It wouldn"t be a Peak-tier Magical Fragment, would it?" The guard asked as he shed a layer of sweat.

"It is~"

"In that case..." The guard quickly a.s.sumed a prostrating pose, literally trembling in horror as he said, "Y-you needn"t p-pay the fare… just p-please s-spare my life..." Knowing full well how badly he had messed up and that his life may very well end should Elizabeth be as he imagined her to be — as one of those "ruthless pract.i.tioners." He stayed in the prostrating position, not caring about the opinions of the line behind Elizabeth nor those of his fellow guards until Elizabeth said, "Mhmm… Ok, Now I just need to know if there"s a place in the city where Martial Pract.i.tioners or Mages gather..."

Looking up at Elizabeth with hope in his eyes, the guard said, "I… I can take you to our city"s Guild!"

"Mhmm… Let"s go then~"

It took a moment for the guard to collect himself before he began guiding Elizabeth into the city of Tyre and then through the streets. Sadly, the guard was nothing but a Level 8 Mid Phase p.a.w.n and with his agility, they couldn"t just blaze a path at mach speeds to the Guild. However, even if they were wasting a bit of time walking around, Elizabeth wasn"t complaining as she marvelled at the city life in this alternate dimension.

Apparently, the city was styled in a Medieval European decor. Yet somehow, there were towering buildings easily over ten stories tall off into the distance and the clothes of the people Elizabeth crossed in the streets were all over the place. Some people dressed as the times would suggest, with stockings, tunics, gowns, and furs. But then there would be people wearing silk, cotton, polyester, and even clothes from cultures one would not automatically a.s.sociate with Medieval times or even Europe.

For instance, as Elizabeth was walking through the streets, even after she had seen odd fashion choices, she couldn"t help but audibly curse, "What the f.u.c.k?" as she crossed paths with a woman wearing a qipao. If this were an RPG fantasy world her immersion surely would have taken a hit as this was becoming ridiculous; alas, it was reality…

Eventually, the guard finally stopped walking through the streets, saying "T-this building is the Guild… In it, you can trade-in your hunting loot for money or treasures..." He was still a bit jumpy as Elizabeth was still nearby, but by trying his best to suppress his fear of her, he managed to barely stutter through his taciturn introduction of the Guild.

"Oh, Thanks. Here, you can keep this, I guess~" Tossing the guard the Level 10 Monster Core, Elizabeth walked towards the Guild"s entrance. Stopping to take a look at the foreign writing labeled on the Guild roof, Elizabeth"s eyes narrowed as the Magic Circle for her Basic Translation lit up her index finger; albeit barely. The Magic Runes which made up the Magic Circle froze as they had previously been slowly rotating and now began to morph into different entirely different characters.

A couple seconds pa.s.sed as the Magic Runes flickered in and out of existence before finally stabilizing once more. Now, returning back to the lazy rotation cycle the original Magic Circle followed, Elizabeth"s index finger dimmed back down as a smile dawn on her face. Chuckling to herself, she moved into the Guild, thinking, "I can"t believe it is so easy..." She had just modified her Basic Translation Spell once more to be able to read the foreign language of the Shadow Realm; or just the local region.

It was a feat most if not all the local Mages would call bulls.h.i.t, had they been present as she had rewritten most of how the spell worked. It was fundamentally different from improving a spell, like increasing the potency of a spell or how cost-efficient a spell was. Instead, she had essentially evolved the foundation of the spell to add in an extra application. Unknowingly, she made progress towards getting the insight the spell"s evolution required and in just a matter of seconds… Granted, she had already perfected the original Translation Spell before arriving, reaching her current level where playing around with its foundation was not a problem. But it was still a ridiculous feat; so ridiculous in fact that it warranted its own Hidden Quest.
