Cheng Qingchong"s breathing halted, and before meeting Qin Yinan"s eyes, her head lowered. To ensure the quality of her service, Cheng Qingchong tried her best to ignore the sourness in her heart. She used the greatest speed she could to rearrange her feelings before raising her head to greet Qin Yinan politely. "Good evening, Sir."
She didn"t refer to him as Mr. Qin. He had already told her that he didn"t want anything to do with her.
He wasn"t going to stay at Four Seasons that night because she didn"t have his information, so she chose the most formal term of reference—sir.
Qin Yinan didn"t react in any way. In fact, before she could finish, he already turned his head away to talk to Mr. Smith. He carried on as if she was someone of no import to him. Then again, that was indeed the correct way he should act; she was of no importance to him.
Since she was at work, Cheng Qingchong didn"t waste too much time dealing with her own internal issues; she also tried her best to ignore Qin Yinan as she turned around and, with as stable steps as she could manage, lead Mr. Smith and Qin Yinan to the VIP elevator.
After stepping into the elevator, Cheng Qingchong swiped her card and pressed the b.u.t.ton for top floor.
As the elevator moved upward, Qin Yinan maintained a constant conversation with Mr. Smith. Cheng Qingchong stood where she was like a mannequin with a smile plastered on her face without breathing a word.
The elevator opened when it reached the top floor. Cheng Qingchong bowed and waved her hand at the open door. After Mr. Smith and Qin Yinan walked out, she followed behind him and walked past them to get to the door of Room 1111. She swiped the room card and pushed the door open to welcome them in.
Cheng Qingchong stood at the door and after Mr. Smith took a quick tour of the room, she asked politely, "Mr. Smith would you like to have anything to drink?"
Mr. Smith shook his head and pointed at the bathroom, telling her wordlessly that he wished to take a shower first. Then he glanced at Qin Yinan. Thinking about the fact that his guest might need to wait for him, he asked, "Mr. Qin, would you like to have something to drink?"
Qin Yinan glanced Cheng Qingchong"s way, but his answer was directed at Mr. Smith. "Coffee."
Mr. Smith turned toward Cheng Qingchong. "A cup of coffee, please."
"Of course," Cheng Qingchong replied with a smile.
Just as she was about to close the door, Mr. Smith called after her, "Right, before I forget, please help me prepare some supper."
"Of course, Mr. Smith." Cheng Qingchong walked back into the room to pick up the menu to pa.s.s it to Mr. Smith. "What would Mr. Smith like to have?"
Mr. Smith looked through the menu quickly before putting it down. As he pulled the cupboard open to retrieve a pair of slippers, he answered Cheng Qingchong, "The B Set, thank you."
"Of course, Mr. Smith," After a pause, she asked, "Do you wish to have the supper brought to the room or served at the restaurant?"
Then, Cheng Qingchong politely took the slippers away from Mr. Smith to remove the plastic wrapping before squatting down and puting the slippers neatly before the man"s feet.
Qin Yinan, who was leaning against the table not far away, saw how reverent and deferential Cheng Qingchong was acting and frowned lightly.
"The restaurant will be fine."
"Of course, Mr. Smith. I"ll have someone inform Mr. Smith when the supper is ready."
As Cheng Qingchong stood up, Qin Yinan moved his head away to look out the window as if this had nothing to do with him.
