for her earlier life."
"Did you tell him why you don"t think that"s very
healthy?"
"I tried." Audrey shook her head. "But I don"t think he
heard me."
"Poor Jed. He"s such a decent person. I know he only
wants to do what"s right. It has to be hard on him trying to
understand all these things."
"And all these women in his life..." Audrey chuckled.
"Plus he"s spending so much time with Michael these
days. I suppose I just need to be patient and cut him some
slack until he gets things figured Out."" Yet at the same time,
Maggie couldn"t wait to get home and see if he"d answered
her email.

"You might be right to just play it cool," agreed Audrey.
"Anyway, I invited them all for dinner on Wednesday night.
Will that work for you?"
"Sounds great."
Maggie decided to go to work for the rest of the after-
noon, but Scott stopped her in the lobby before she could
even get into her own office. Like a kid with a new toy, he

these guys write about online for the whole world to see. I
even called the FBI to make sure they"re keeping track of all
these little fringe groups. Apparently they are. A woman told
me they even have a special division for it."
"I"m sure they"d have to watch them. You never know
what one of these fanatics might do." She scanned his story.
"This looks really good, Scott, but do you think it"s complete
yet?"
He frowned. "Well, I thought I could run this piece now,
and then continue following it up, you know-sort of an
ongoing report about what"s going on in Randy Ebbert"s
hate camp."
She nodded. "I suppose so. But we want to be careful not
to give him too much attention. Sometimes these guys eat
this kind of thing up."
"But everything I"ve said is so negative. I didn"t pull any
punches, Maggie. I can"t imagine that Ebbert"s going to be
pleased."

"Probably not." She handed the story back. "I"m sure
when he reads this, he"ll be more likely than ever to start
