Chapter 47: Chu Sihan Admitted His Mistake
“I didn’t do anything.”
Yu Mingyue scratched her head in embarra.s.sment.
She had just returned from the capital when she heard the bad news from the Deng Mansion.
Upon remembering that Ah Ming was still waiting for Deng Rumeng at the manor, she hurried over without having much money on her.
She reached into her pocket and handed the remaining six coins to Lu Sheng.
Seeing the apple in her servant’s hand, she asked her to give the apple to her too.
“How did you know I live here?” Yu Mingyue asked suspiciously.
“I’m not here to catch up with Miss Yu today.”
As Lu Sheng spoke, she took out the handkerchief that was wrapped with the land deed, t.i.tle deed, and the jade hairpin.
“Miss Deng gave these to me before she died. She told me to give them to a person called Ah Ming. She also said that if I couldn’t find him, I could find you. She said you know that person.”
Lu Sheng made up a few lies.
“Ru Meng’s?!”
Yu Mingyue’s eyes reddened immediately. She received the items and took a look. Then, she hugged them and started crying.
Lu Sheng did not say anything and just stood at the side silently.
Moments later, Yu Mingyue finally stopped crying and said in a choked voice, “My mother said that she was already dead when we found her. That beast, Zhao Wei, deserves to be hacked into pieces!”
Lu Sheng said, “Since the items have been delivered, I’ll take my leave.”
After taking two steps, she turned back and said, “Oh right, Miss Yu. Thank you so much for that day. See you next time.”
As Yu Mingyue was still grieving, she could not be bothered to keep her anymore. She nodded lightly and let the servant send her out.
After leaving the Yu Mansion, Lu Sheng could not help but sigh.
She did not expect to encounter so many problems on her trip to town.
After entering the market, she bought everything she wanted and stuffed them into the s.p.a.ce Bracelet when no one was looking.
Then, she went to the clothing store to buy two sets of new clothes for herself and the two children.
When she left, she b.u.mped into Chu Sihan and Chu Yun, who had just returned from the government office and were pa.s.sing by a clothing store.
“Miss Lu, why are you here?” Chu Yun asked.
“I’m buying some things.”
Her att.i.tude was lukewarm, and it paled in comparison to the past two days.
Chu Sihan looked at her silently. Moments later, he smiled and said, “You found out?”
Knowing that he was referring to his ident.i.ty, Lu Sheng smiled insincerely and said, “I didn’t expect the mighty magistrate to have the leisure to play a game of hide-and-seek with me. I am deeply honored.”
Chu Sihan nodded. “It was my fault.”
Chu Yun was shocked. When did the magistrate admit his mistake to others?
No, he was never wrong!
“How is that so?” Lu Sheng continued to smile insincerely. “I was ignorant in the past. If I accidentally offended you, please be magnanimous and forgive me for my ignorance.”
Chu Sihan knew that she was angry and blamed himself.
“What do you want?” he asked.
Lu Sheng looked at him in confusion and did not speak.
“What can I do to make you forgive me?”
Even though she already knew his ident.i.ty, he still addressed himself in an informal term.
Lu Sheng narrowed her eyes suspiciously and immediately laughed. “If we’re talking about forgiveness, I, the commoner, should be the one asking for your forgiveness. You have done nothing wrong. Why do you want me to forgive you? Aren’t we reversing the order here?”
She knew that she had said something that she should not have. However, it was indeed him who hid his ident.i.ty first.
She could not be blamed for this!
It was his fault!
“Then I’ll forgive you.” It was rare for Chu Sihan to lose his imposing aura. He said to her, “In that case, Miss Lu, are you willing to accompany me for lunch?”
