Lance was taken aback and his head bends slightly sideward, thinking about what the woman exactly meant. When he could not fathom it, he just shrugs his shoulders not even bothering to answer and decided to ignore her thinking that she may have some sanity problems.

"She dresses prettily but she seems to be suffering with some psychological disorder." He silently thought while he walk pa.s.s her.

The woman could not believe what she just experience. This is the first time that someone stood up against her and did not even flinch even a second. For the reason that all of the people she met would always pay her some respects because of her ident.i.ty.

"Hey mister! Who do you think you are? Do you not know who I am?" She shouted at him.

The man unexpectedly stopped in his tracks, moving only his head sideward and then he asks mockingly.

"Are you the daughter of an emperor or of n.o.ble blood that I should pay some respect to you?"

Then Lance continued walking and his gait is swift as if nothing happened and that he never met some crazy woman on his way to the hospital"s presidential suite.

Vanessa froze.

She"s not use of being rejected and insulted by a man because she"s accustomed to being admired by them. Her face inflamed with much anger and she"s occupied with irritation that she did not notice that the man is no longer in front of her.

"Where is that b.a.s.t.a.r.d?"

She looked everywhere but there"s no one around whom she could ask which way the man went so that she could get even with him. But her effort was in vain. She treaded heavily towards the presidential suite but she was blocked at the nurse"s station.

"Excuse me, Ma"am, but do you have an appointment with the patients today?" the nurse asks.

"Why do I have to get an appointment? Don"t you recognize me?" she reacted arrogantly.

"Sorry ma"am but that"s the set rules here. Only the immediate families are allowed to go inside or you already have set the visiting hours with them." The nurse firmly said.

Vanessa is so p.i.s.sed off that she wanted to yell at the nurse but she notices the CCTV around her. So she makes a façade and tried to be sweet.

"Ahh, miss.." she looks at the nurse name, "…Shiela, I am a close friend and business partner of Clifford Briggs, and I have some important "business" matters that I need to discuss with him regarding our collaboration. And if you"ll block me here, our company will suffer loss, would you like it to happen?" the nurse seems embarra.s.s that she lowered her head and allowed her to enter the suite but the nurse asked for her valid IDs to be sure.

Vanessa is so p.i.s.sed off that she almost shoved her IDs to her and the nurse gulped when she saw her name.

"You"re so kind, nurse Shiela. Thank you." but when Vanessa turns her back, she grimace and her face darkened. But somehow she is so pleased with herself because she outsmarted the nurse about her reason for coming.

She stops at the front door of the suite and checked her outfit for any wrinkle before she knocks three times and put a sweet smile on her lips.

But her smile slowly fades when she saw a familiar figure sitting on a chair across the patient"s bed and saw the side of his face.

"Is he the b.a.s.t.a.r.d of a man that I met earlier?" she narrowed her eyes and forgot about her plan for visiting Clifford.

Vanessa quickened her steps to approach the man but she was dumbfounded when she saw how the man smiled as he nonchalantly looked at her direction but it swiftly grow fainter when his eyes are fixed on her.

Lance brows rise upon seeing her.

"What are you doing here, princess?"

His gentle demeanor cloaks the mockery which plays in his voice as he asks. Upon sensing the man"s mockery, Vanessa"s aggressive nature felt challenged.

"Well, I am a friend of Clifford, slave. It"s you that I should ask about that. This isn"t the place for slaves." She mocked him in return.

Lance becomes irritated with the woman"s att.i.tude and it"s not his manner to bicker with someone especially a woman, but this one is an exception. Her presence alone crawls creepily in his being. So, not to embarra.s.s himself before Ingrid, he ignored her.

"At last you acknowledge that you"re a slave." Vanessa continued mocking him and smiled triumphantly.

However, Vanessa didn"t noticed Ingrid"s scrutinizing gaze between her and Lance. She, on the other hand, was amused watching the two, while Clifford was so annoyed when Lance arrived and his irritation piled up when Vanessa arrived, too, and acted like a spoiled brat.

"Miss Reiley, are you here to argue with Mr. McNaught? If you are, then I advice you both to leave now, can"t you see "my wife" and I needs some rest?"

Clifford put emphasis on the words my wife to declare their legal relationship and as well as to let Lance know about the truth and that he would now back off from his wife. He still feel uneasy with Lance around.
