Gary thought about it and he nodded in agreement with his master."Are you not with my son for a long time? Haven"t you known him?"
"Ahh, yes sir."
"He is my son, Gary and he is the same as me when it comes to dealing with women. I also have an instruction with you, this should be confidential. We"ll meet later." Mr. Clint hangs up.
His wife looked at him with a knowing look.
"What is it, wife? I know that look of yours.." he smiled lovingly at her who is seated on the settee of his study room. He sits beside her wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"What are you planning for them, Clint? Are you now a matchmaker?" the man laughed heartily.
"But, I am just pulling some strings so that our son will be married to Ingrid as soon as possible. I really love Ingrid like my own daughter and I was somewhat alarmed when I saw that man, what"s his name again?..."
"Lance McNaught."
"...oh yes, that man Lance when he was at the party. I was almost tempted to propose to John that evening when we were at Ingrid"s house that both our child be in an arranged marriage."
"Lance is a very nice man." Helen nonchalantly commented
"Pfftt.. he isn"t nice, he is obsess with Ingrid." His voice rings resentment.
"But why are you in a hurry, Clint Briggs?" The man heaved a sigh before he answered.
"I envied my colleagues who has already a grandsons and granddaughters, while, I? Yes, I do have a successful company and all the more I have you, but even you, you long for a grandchild, haven"t you?"
"Oh, well. Definitely, I do... when I saw Clark that night; I desired to have grandchildren more than ever in my life. So, yes, count me in whatever plans you have in mind..." Helen smiled and leaned on her husband"s shoulder.
"Oh that child... can you feel some connection to that child?" Helen suddenly pulled herself away from his embrace.
"You do? You also feel that? But I thought it was only my imagination."
"Definitely, yes I also felt it. It was after that I know that I have a son with you and then I saw Clark again. But even before that, I already have that deep connection with the child. But Ingrid seldom brought the child along in the office. I held that child when he was newly born and I cried without reason the moment he is in my arms; it"s as if it"s my real grandson."
"Oh, Clint! But the two seems are strangers to each other and Cliff had no serious relationships before. So it"s impossible..." Helen was puzzled while Clint just stared outside lost in his deep thoughts.
"hmmm..."
...
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Jeffries.." Ingrid smiled faintly. "Mr. Jeffries, it"s a honor sitting here with you."
"The pleasure is always ours, Ingrid. So, let"s get down to business?"
"Perfect!" Ingrid responded enthusiastically so that she could avoid the teasing stares of Mrs. Jeffries.
"By the way, Mr. Jeffries, Mrs. Jeffries I"ll leave you with the most capable hands. I"ll be a baby sitter for now." Clifford grinned. Ingrid on the other hand is becoming more uncomfortable.
"Grrr... wait till I finish this meeting, I will really kick you and sack you up!" irritation is creeping in her thoughts.
Ingrid is really fuming with rage inside but could not be seen in her face as she appeared emotionless.
The couple looked at the boy was sitting beside Clifford and looked relaxed and really used to such meetings.
"What a handsome boy, he looks exactly like you, Clifford. Look at him, honey." Mr. Jeffries commented.
Clifford is stunned; he did not expect that comment coming from the Jeffries. He looked at Ingrid who was staring at her and her eyes were like daggers ready to stab him if he answered incorrectly.
"Geezz, what is this woman made of?" he mull over with amus.e.m.e.nt.
He really loved to tease her more but decided not to and did not further comment. Everyone knew that he does not like answering any random statement just to justify things, so he just shrugged it off.
"Clark, come on, let"s go."
