"Oh Ingrid, don"t decide easily. Test your emotion first. Guard your heart. There"s still six months or so to tell." She sighed. How she wished that the matter of her heart will be that easy to deal with just like the business. That if you failed in one area, it will be easily make a shift and find another solutions or plans.
She could never forget her mother"s answer when she asked her what love is.
"Oh dear, hmmm... for me, love never fails but if it fails... oh well, it"s never love."
She did not understand it at that time. But the moment she went through two heartbreaks she could attest the truth of her mother"s words and she later came into realization that those two heartbreaks were not really love.
"Okay, let"s see if this will fail or not." this time she"ll choose to give herself a chance to love again.
Clifford confidently went inside the cla.s.sroom and the teacher and the nanny greeted him blushing.
"Good noon, Mr. Briggs." He just nodded at them and focus his gaze on his son.
"Daddy!!" Clark came running to him and he smiled.
Both the teacher and the nanny were shocked when they heard what did Clark calls him. But he did not explain nor look at the teacher and the nanny"s direction and he bid farewell.
Nanny Tess was still in daze that the teacher needs to call her twice before she heard the teacher calling her name.
"Nanny Tess, Nanny Tess!"
"Ye-yeah, yes Teacher?"
"Do you know what"s happening? Why Clark did call Mr. Briggs "Daddy"?" the teacher could not contain her curiosity.
"I really have no idea actually, teacher." Nanny Tess shook her head.
A man then went inside the cla.s.sroom and spoke.
"I am one of the lawyers of the Briggs, Nathan Park, I am sent here by Mr. Briggs to inform you that whatever you heard and saw earlier should be kept confidential and should never be discussed within this school, with friends, family or even co-workers. Violation of such will constrain my client to make an immediate action. I believe you both understand what I am trying to convey, do you?" the man said it with a smile on his lips, his voice is gentle yet firm.
The two women nodded in agreement and never uttered a single word and signed that they will zip their mouth and covered their eyes.
"Well and good. Have a nice day, ladies." The man then walked out from the cla.s.sroom.
Several minutes have pa.s.sed; Clifford and Clark came into view. Ingrid gulped at the sight of them, Clifford carrying her son onto his arm, while the child leaned on his father"s chest. His expression is so much different now.
His cold expression is wipe out and is replaced with a doting and protective father image. Clifford smiled warmly as his son hugged his neck.
"Ahh this is what it feels like to have a son." He kissed his son"s head and walked briskly towards the car.
Ingrid pretended that she is busy scanning her phone when she saw that they"re nearing the car.
"Mommy!" Clark climbed down from his father and went to his mother"s side. "... I miss you." Clark kissed both of her cheeks.
"Ahh you"re so sweet, baby! Where"s nanny Tess?"
"Oh, I thought she went behind us, I think she"s still inside the cla.s.sroom." The child answered. Ingrid sent a message to the nanny that the she and the driver should go home.
The child could not contain his happiness as he is sitting in the middle of his parents.
"I love you, dad! I love you, mom!" the child said joyfully.
"I love you, too." Both of Clifford and Ingrid simultaneously responded to the child that makes Ingrid"s throat dry.
The driver on the front coughed and he could not help it but to react to their exchange of words.
"Are you okay, Mr. driver? Are you sick?" the child asks with full of concern.
"I apologize little young master, it won"t happen again." the driver became so conscious of what he acted. He waited for the young master to scold him but he never said anything.
Ingrid is so grateful with the driver"s interruption.
"OH MY G.o.d!! What did just I say? But it is not meant for him!" she said screaming in her thoughts.
She firmly closed her eyes because she feels so embarra.s.sed. Her mind and heart were always in constant battle. She could not decide which of it should win.
"WHY??!! That"s so embarra.s.sing." She groaned and she felt like crying.
Clifford, in contrast, was smiling from ear to ear.
