"Well, what do you think of our relationship, miss director?" all of those who heard his reply one by one paid attention to their conversation and abruptly stopped their bickering. The woman paused before she comes back with another statement. She only stared straight at Sheldon"s eyes, searching for some confirmation of her suspicion.
"If I"ll say what I think, it might ruin my reputation of which they would use against me which as a ground to oust me in my work. Ha! I love my work here, I can"t afford to lose it…" she mused.
She knew that it"s impossible for her to find another job if she lose it here because the rumor of the reason why she"d be kick out will spread like wild fire.
"Hmmm I"ve no idea, that"s why I"m asking…" she innocently answered back.
But a shrewd man that Sheldon is, he trickily said. "Well, if you only want confirmation what"s in your mind? I would say, it"s a yes."
The director was stunned because the pressure fell on her as the gazes of her staffs are fixed on her.
"I –" Sheldon"s statement left her speechless.
The staffs speak softly among themselves, each having something to say on what the director has thought.
"Director, can you tell us what"s in your mind? We"re dying to know, too." One of the staffs asks.
Director Flair Summit glared angrily at the man who is bold enough to ask her and her glare appeared as though she tells him to back off.
"Did I answer your curiosity, Director?" Sheldon raised a question playfully. But Flair only showed a blank expression and shrugged.
"Well, it"s none of my business to be nosy over my staffs" affairs. I just hope that you won"t do anything drastic with your connection to the wife of our CEO. I hate nuisance in my work. Understand, Mr. Measley?"
Somehow the lady director sighed within her because she"s secretly attracted to Sheldon the first time she met him and her curiosity sprung from it. Nonetheless, she has to hide her admiration to the handsome man before her and display a professional form.
"Yes, ma"am!" Sheldon salutes and winks at her at the same time. "But are you close with Ingrid? You seem so protective of her…" Flair is puzzled with his question.
"Nope, but since she"s the wife of my boss it"s natural that I should be wary of those who try to steal her away…"
Sheldon stared at Flair"s face then his mouth lifted slightly as he rubs his lips leisurely. But Flair could no longer resist the forceful gaze of Sheldon on her, as though he"s checking her sincerity towards their bosses.
Flair suddenly tapped her two palms on the table and straightened up herself to leave the group.
"I"ll go to my office first to freshen up, when I"m back I want everyone of you to be ready." Then she storm away from them, evading the inviting gaze of Sheldon.
"Agh! I needed to end this illusion!" she squeezed her chest the moment she closes her office door because her heart beats erratically just by the stare of Sheldon.
"I need to call Daisy…"
Without delay, Daisy and Flair talked for a few moments and Flair told Daisy everything that had happened. Daisy seemed preoccupied with work and just uninterestingly listened to the rants of her best friend.
"Flair, I hate to cut our conversation, but I fear my boss will arrive anytime soon. You know that I don"t want to be caught chitchatting during working hours and besides I needed to finish something urgent." Daisy then cut off their connection.
Flair felt disappointed but then she thought Daisy is right, they"re still working, personal matters will be dealt later. She let out a deep breathy sigh and went to her restroom.
It was already dark outside when Ingrid and Clifford went home. Ingrid bid farewell to Daisy when she"s fetched by her husband.
When Daisy"s bosses were no longer around that"s the time that she checked her work before she tidied her table and go home. She bid good bye to the on duty guard and headed outside the company where a car was waiting for her that is driven by Flair. The woman waved at Daisy and then motioned to her to walk faster. Upon settling herself on the pa.s.senger"s seat, Flair out rightly sped away.
Without their acquaintance, a pair of eyes is looking at them, smiling sneakily.
"What took you so long, Dais?" Flair asked frowning because she"s been bored to death waiting for her best friend to come down from her office.
"My work…" Daisy is not a talker and never her habit to explain herself in extensive words.
Flair rolled her eyes. "Pffttt, that"s your reason always. Can you come up with something new excuse?" But Daisy just shakes her head.
"Where are we going now? I"m tired, I just want to rest." Daisy silently protested because all she wanted to do is to lazily lie down on her comfy bed and doze off to sleep to regain more strength for tomorrow.
"We"re eating dinner, my treat…" Flair said grinning.
"This will be a long night for me…" Daisy gloomily mused.
Knowing that Flair will just continue her rants which did not finish earlier.
