Chapter 105: First Blood
105 105 - First Blood
Noah looked at his friend and instead of just making fun of him like the other times they always did, this time Noah just sat on the chair and took something to drink in order to get some rest.
Although they were in a virtual reality world, sitting and drinking something was quite effective in helping him with this problem.
Because of someone who posted their screenshot instantly, more people started showing up to get screenshots with Noah, which at first had been something cool and fun for him, but in 30 minutes it started to get pretty tiring. In 45 minutes Noah felt he needed to urgently rest, while in 55 minutes Noah felt more tired than when he invaded Rank D Fortresses.
Because of this screenshot session, the group almost missed the training schedule, but everyone respected Noah since they also wanted to be like him one day.
After Noah got some rest, the party prepared to get ready for the training match and joined the queue for a match.
The composition of their group was simple: Noah would be considered the a.s.sa.s.sin, James was the control and explosive damage wizard, while Kevin would be an archer who would support Carlos and Mateo, who would be the frontline of the group.
Only Noah and James had a real Blessing, which meant that the attacks of the other three would be quite predictable because of the generic skill pack they bought. They tried to get around this by buying skins for these generic skills for themselves. Instead of shooting an arrow with a white light, Kevin fired an arrow with sparks of electricity to simulate a lightning Blessing. This helped to fool the other team"s perception that it was a generic skill and to make it less predictable, but people who played the game for quite some time already knew almost all of these skins.

Suddenly, the five were teleported to a medieval city which matched the lobby they were in. This city had tall stone towers built for wizards to protect the city, but there was no sewer. The strategies that the teams could use were many, but still limited.
The match was a Team Death Match, which was Noah"s favorite mode as he could simply teleport and kill other players to earn points. As he was always the team"s a.s.sa.s.sin, he didn"t have many responsibilities within the game other than killing the players on the other teams.
And that"s exactly what he did. When the match started, Noah gave Carlos a wave and ran towards the other team"s sp.a.w.n. Carlos had put his livestream program to work to record the match for them to watch later.
- Noah Pov -
The only moments I spend teleporting in the Fortresses are in battles, or moments where I truly need to use them, but feeling my body go through the tunnel of h.e.l.l and out again in the real world is an incredible feeling. Strangely, the heat of h.e.l.l does not cause me any discomfort, in fact, it is very invigorating, as if I had just entered a sauna and stayed there for a few minutes.
After teleporting around the map a few times, I"ve finally found my target. This is exactly my favorite target in this type of situation: the a.s.sa.s.sin of the enemy team! Hehe...
Apparently his Blessing is related to the shadows... This is a rare thing to find today, since many say that the shadow G.o.ds are mostly evil.
This a.s.sa.s.sin has been using his Blessing to look slightly camouflaged. Instead of running around the map like me, he was standing in a darker place, and with his Blessing, it was almost possible not to notice him there. The only reason I noticed him hiding in that place was that I was not far from him. In fact, I was practically above him, and my 360o vision is sharper than my normal vision. That is to say, even though he is practically invisible, I still managed to see him without even having to look at him.
For someone who teleports like me, this spatial perception that I received when leveling up the [h.e.l.l Tunneling] skill is probably more useful than anything else I could get at the moment. Since it happened a few times where I teleported, and because of being a little lost on where I was for a fraction of a second, the enemy used to sometimes take advantage of this to kill me.
My Blessing was not omnipotent, but I find it hard to find a Blessing as OP as mine in such a low rank. The only thing that is limiting me to move up to Rank C so far is just my lower agility, since the base agility of the Blessed Rank C is greater than mine; that"s in addition to strength and other attributes. It is not as big a difference as it may seem, but just something like that because of this superior agility, Blessed Rank C manage more easily than they should be, allowing them to be able to defend themselves against my surprise attacks.
My advantage is the surprise itself. So if I don"t have that surprise, because the opponent has a faster reaction speed than mine, I practically surrender myself to a lion"s mouth when I teleport.
Although now, with my superior spatial perception, I have countless possibilities to make up for it, and Valorwatch has been the perfect place to test this sort of thing, since I don"t have to be afraid of death here.
Seeing that my team was approaching cautiously down the cobblestone road from the city, I realized that the enemy a.s.sa.s.sin was becoming anxious. It wasn"t so clear and obvious, but you could see him fixing the way he would hold the dagger to make it as comfortable as possible.
My Blessing allows me to go faster than almost anyone here, so their sp.a.w.n is probably not that far, meaning the rest of his team is hiding somewhere close to here to take a surprise approach. This is not a novelty in itself; they are probably waiting for the a.s.sa.s.sin to eliminate anyone from our team so that they have the numerical advantage. It is a good strategy, mainly because of the versatility of this a.s.sa.s.sin"s Blessing, but unfortunately he was not lucky in this match.
Taking advantage of the fact that he was distracted by my approaching team, I decided to test a skill that I couldn"t use before because it was so disorienting.
When I teleport, my synthetic strength is maintained, that is, if I am running north, regardless of where I teleport in the meantime, my body will still be moving north at the same speed.
Thinking about it exactly, as I was on top of a building behind the a.s.sa.s.sin, I started running in the opposite direction from him, before teleporting in front of him.
Fortunately, he didn"t have time to react before my dagger crossed his throat, causing his ability to deactivate and his eyes to widen at the sight of me with evident amazement.
