CHAPTER 451 —
Final Chapter [Must See…] ———————————————————————————————————————————-
TL Note: Thank you for sticking with this story till the very end. You"re awesome fans and readers.
I would also like to thank @fictionlands for doing a lot of the heavy work towards the end. I would also like to thank all of our past editors and translators. I couldn"t have done this without all of you.
A special shout out to @minodayz for helping me with translations when I can"t even translate the simplest things.
Lastly, we are going to be translating Season 2. However, @fictionlands and I will be taking a short hiatus so we can take a long-deserved break (and so I can stockpile some chapters to post). Please keep checking the Meraki website (or Discord) to find out when we would start posting the alternative ending.
Again, thank you for all your support!
Mankuai is shocked.
An Chuxia wanted to cry, but she"s drained. She can"t cry anymore.
But Mankuai cries tears of excitement. The audience witnessing the event holler and cheer for her to say yes.
“I… (do).” Mankuai doesn"t finish her statement since An Chuxia finally penetrates the circle.
“I won"t consent!” She stares at Han Qilu. “But if you suddenly gain your memory back, and you remember me, I will forgive you. But if you don"t, I don"t know what else to do… Han Qilu, do you really not remember who I am?”
It took her one whole night, alone, to find him in the jungle.
At that time, she vowed that if he died, she won"t continue living.
She vowed to confess to him if he came out alive, and tell him how she has fallen in love with him.
But why did the events turn out this way? Why did she say she"d cherish something that wouldn"t belong to her at the end? Why do all the people she love eventually leave her?
Tears suddenly fall from her face, springing from her emptied soul. Han Qilu stares at her in surprise. His eyes are strange and unpleasant.
And Mankuai, she acts like Chuxia doesn"t exist.
“You really don"t remember these last couple of months?” The tears fall from her eyes and onto the marble tiles on the square.
The onlookers begin to wonder, and eventually, they slowly disperse. Some people stay to see what happens next.
“You… .” All he can say is that word, but he"s tongue-tied. What is this tightening feeling in his chest? Why does he feel heartache as he stares at this pretty face?
“You really don"t remember anything? What should I do? Han Qilu, what do you want me to do?” An Chuxia says loudly as her tears start flowing heavily. She can"t stop the dam that"s broken.
“All these memories we shared… can"t you really think of them because we had problems? Were you so sure of yourself that you didn"t think twice before asking someone else to marry?”
He is stupefied. All he feels are the clouds lifting from the pain in his chest.
He doesn"t know why he has this urge to hug the tear-filled, stubborn girl standing in front of him.
“Qilu… .” Mankuai pulls Han Qilu up to his feet. “Let"s go. I do. I say yes to your proposal.”
Since Han Qilu was sent to the U.S. to recover, Mankuai used her network in the United States to care for him. She was elated to the point of mania when he forgot the last couple of months.
She truly felt that G.o.d is finally helping her. That is why she didn"t say anything about An Chuxia in front of Han Qilu.
Han Qilu asked Mankuai if he"s forgetting anything important. She always responded vaguely. She presumed, as long as Han Qilu doesn"t make an effort, she"d eventually regain his heart.
She did. Momentarily. Until An Chuxia appeared.
“Wait a minute.” Han Qilu scratches his head. “She knows me.”
“Who doesn"t know you? Any Chinese girl who"s our contemporary knows you.” Mankuai says as Han Qilu hears An Chuxia sneer.
Han Qilu"s gaze falls on An Chuxia, and he can"t seem to take his gaze away from her. This makes him feel sorry for Mankuai, but he cannot resist. He doesn"t want to leave this girl!
“Han Qilu, I hope you won"t regret your decision.” An Chuxia leaves, her tears still flowing.
“Wait!” he yells at her. “What"s your name? Who are you?”
An Chuxia turns around slowly.
Mankuai prays that her good luck would remain, but suddenly, a little girl jumps out from a car and runs toward her. “Mom! I haven"t seen you in a long time! I"ve missed you!”
“Mom?” Han Qilu peels his gaze away from An Chuxia and plants it on the little girl holding on to Mankuai.
“No, I"m not her mother. I swear!” She tries to push the little girl away as her face turns pale. “I"m not your mother. Don"t yell that!”
“Mom… .” The little girl starts crying as she"s mortified by the rejection.
A middle-aged woman runs over as she witnesses the event. She lifts the little girl in her arms. “Calm down. Why did you suddenly run away? Oh. Miss, how are you… .”
“I don"t know you! I don"t know you!” Mankuai shakes her head as her eyes widen in horror.
“She"s your daughter.” Han Qilu"s expression doesn"t change. An Chuxia is confused. During that time, steward Han spots An Chuxia and runs over. He witnesses the chaotic scene before him.
“How could you have a daughter?” Han Qilu takes measured steps toward Mankuai.
“It"s not what you think. She"s not my daughter!” Her face is as white as paper, and she keeps shaking her head, denying the accusation.
“Wouldn"t there be proof if a blood test is taken?” Han Qilu"s tone doesn"t shock her, but his gaze makes her feel uncomfortable. “You left me because of her? You were cheating on me when we were together, weren"t you?”
“No, it"s not what you think! No!!!” Mankuai screams the denial vehemently.
“Mankuai, I thought you really changed… .” Han Qilu flashes her a bitter smile before turning his back on her.
Mankuai reaches out and pulls herself toward him. “Don"t leave me, Qilu. I really love you… .”
“You can"t afford to love me!” Han Qilu brings his lips closer to her face. His eyes are arctic cold as he swears. “If you don"t want me to ruin you, don"t ever appear in front of me again.”
He shakes off Mankuai and takes the opportunity to leave. He goes back to the hotel. Mankuai follows him, but steward Han steps in front of her.
“Miss, our young mistress has wanted to talk to you for a while now.” Steward Han"s eyes are also cold. “Please don"t worry about the young master. He already has our xiaonainai.”
“Xiaonainai?” Mankuai calms down and sneers as her gaze lands on Chuxia. “Your young master doesn"t remember her at all!”
An Chuxia"s back stiffens. She remembers Han Qilu"s cold gaze, she was scared. She didn"t dare to follow him, so she stayed in place. However, what she wanted to do was comfort him. But because she knows how it feels to be betrayed by a loved one, she knows he is feeling anxious.
If Han Qilu ever remembers her… then, will their relationship be a possibility?
She"s aware that it"s truly hard to fall in love with a person who"s been hurt by love.
“I"m not stopping the future Han lady.” Mankuai lifts her chin. “Look, Qilu won"t ever forget me. Never. One day, he"ll forgive me.”
“Really?” An Chuxia says before steward Han can put a word in. “So why did he tell me before his amnesia that you"re just his past, a past without a future? Once he remembers, wouldn"t you think he"d see me as someone more reliable compared to someone requiring his forgiveness?”
Mankuai haughtily looks down and picks up the little girl. “Shush. What I said was wrong. Let"s go. Dad will pick us up soon.”
An Chuxia is distressed. In fact, she isn"t sure whether Han Qilu will actually forgive Mankuai.
“It is improbable that they"d meet each other again. Sooner or later, they"ll regret not settling this issue in a timely manner,” steward Han states, ignoring Mankuai.
“Let"s go back to the hotel, steward Han.” An Chuxia no longer gazes at Mankuai. “Right now, Qilu needs to be comforted… .”
“You should go console him, xiaonainai.” Steward Han takes a long look at the direction Mankuai left. “I don"t have to manage that lady"s business here in the U.S..”
An Chuxia doesn"t respond, but heads back to the hotel.
They arrive at their floor. As she heads toward Han Qilu"s room, she realizes his door is left ajar. For a moment, she hesitates before she lets herself in. The room is very dark, and the curtains are drawn. None of the lights are on.
She gropes the walls until she is able to turn on the light.
She sees Han Qilu leaning against the window, clutching his chest.
“What"s wrong?” An Chuxia doesn"t think twice before approaching him.
“Don"t come any closer!” He growls.
An Chuxia stops midway.
After a while, when her feet unconsciously carry herself to him, Han Qilu says slowly, “Can you tell me why? I know she betrayed me. I"m not truly upset. In fact, I"m not angry at all… .”
An Chuxia bites her lower lip and listens quietly.
“Yet, my heart hurts. But I know it"s not hurting because of her. For years, I may have not truly loved her at all.”
An Chuxia remains silent.
“Since waking up, I felt like I lost something. Something very precious. But I don"t know what it is. My heart hurts a lot, but I don"t know why!”
Silence.
“Why aren"t you talking?” Han Qilu looks at her. “Why aren"t you answering me?”
An Chuxia"s mouth gently lifts.
“Why are you smiling?” Han Qilu suddenly gets angry.
“You were pretending,” she whispers. “You don"t remember me. Do you want me to tell you?”
He can"t seem to figure out what she means.
“If you really can"t remember me.” An Chuxia walks up to him and kneels in front of him. Then she leans forward and plants a kiss on his lips.
“What do you think about this kiss?” Her smile is brilliant, but her face is stained with tear marks.
“What do you want me to do? Han Qilu suddenly sneers. “I"m tired of playing this game… .”
Patiently, An Chuxia explained to Han Qilu what they found out during his amnesia.
Han Qilu lost his memory because Nangong Zijue purchased a large number of the Han"s shares.
Years ago, Zhang Mankuai left Han Qilu to be with Zijue. Nangong Zijue orchestrated it all, so he can gain everything. Eventually, he got Mankuai pregnant and became the child"s father. He wished Qilu would die upon arriving in the U.S.[TL Note: I wonder if this is around the time frame when Han Qilu and Mankuai met after the long separation].
During the wilderness excursion, Nangong Zijue felt sorry for Zhang Mankuai that he gave her a lot of the Han shares he purchased. When Qilu woke up with amnesia, Zhang Mankuai met up with Jiang Yuan and Han Liuhai, and returned all the shares to Han Qilu.
But the only thing that caught them by surprise is Mankuai"s daughter. Han Qilu said he was shocked, not because of the drama, but the child"s presence.

Mage sits up from the bed, her thin shoulders tremble.
Nangong Zifei was drunk last night, and he was treating her like she was An Chuxia. She desperately shouted at him that she"s not her, but he didn"t care. The heart wrenching pain is followed closely by his soft lips suddenly on her… .
She has liked Nangong Zifei the moment she saw him. But as he presses his body against her, he shouts An Chuxia"s name.
She"s truly upset… .
“Why are you here?” Nangong Zifei frowns. Then, last night"s memories waken him.
Mage bursts into tears, and Nangong Zifei remains on his back, silent.
After a while, he says slowly, “I will be responsible for you.”
As his voice falls, Mage stops crying. Dewy eyes look at Nangong Zifei. “Really… really?”
That is the look he gives to An Chuxia. Nangong Zifei is not soft… maybe he can forget her by loving someone else.
“Truly, I will be responsible.”

Finally, graduation.
An Chuxia smiles and looks at Meng Xiaonan and Xiao Mingluo. Together, they look like two very happy friends. They"re also a very happy… couple.
Mingluo has been good to Xiaonan, and she is very surprised about their union. She blesses them in her heart.
“What do you want?” Han Qilu quickly kisses An Chuxia"s face. “Don"t think of other men. Otherwise, you"re dead!”
“Who are you calling dead? You want your wife to be dead! Then, I am not your wife!”
“How narcissistic of you! Who would want to marry you?”
“Han Qilu, you"re a ba*tard!”
“How can I not be a jerk?” Han Qilu wraps his arms around An Chuxia"s waist. “Tonight, we… .”
“Get lost!!!”

Final Words:
From 09:30 to 21:05, I wrote four and a half chapters in one day (the “half” refers to external stuff), but I felt that it was out of place and is dragged and dropped. The ending still feels inappropriate (there are two endings to Han Qilu"s coma…).
This, eventually became the ending.
Oh, there is a more fleshed out ending. I"m afraid that will give me peace.
