CHAPTER 3
Han Qilu"s FiancéeThe next day, An Chuxia sits calmly at the table, leisurely eating breakfast.
“Did you sleep well last night, An Chuxia?” Young master Han asks. Knowing that the rooms are well-insulated, what transpired between them last night will remain their secret.
She nods slightly. Her eyes try to hide her reaction to last night"s events. She"s unsure why her heart is pounding. Is it because she"s recalling her first kiss being bitterly stolen by Han Qilu, or the fact that he looks good wearing the white Stein Royal College uniform?
She has to admit that when he is quiet, he is quite the prince.
As he bows his head, she breaks her gaze. They earnestly eat their breakfast. Today, she wears the white Stein Royal College uniform for the first time. The style is fine, but the skirt… mother of G.o.d, the skirt is short and pitiful. Her bottom will be exposed the moment she bends. Dismayed, she spends about 10 minutes adapting to her uniform.
It"s a small sacrifice. After all, Stein College has first-cla.s.s teachers. For her, attending this school is considered ancestral merit.
“Oh how can she wear our school uniform?” Han Qilu asks unhappily. He thought by Monday, he would finally rid of her. Unfortunately, luck isn"t on his side.
An Chuxia stares at him blankly and says, “Ge, don"t worry. I won"t be one of your school girls, so please, don"t worry about me.”
She slaps on a friendly smile. That should put him in his place!
“There"s one small problem, An Chuxia… I told your Uncle Han last night about your situation and he decided on one thing,” Jiang Yuan says hesitantly. “Han Qilu, you have to listen well too!”
Han Qilu obediently sits down at the table, and dare not intervene. If there"s one thing he"s most afraid of, it"s his father"s presence, Han Liuhai.
Han Liuhai takes the napkin handed to him by the maid. He wipes his mouth and says with absolute certainty, “ Your aunt and I decided to enroll you at the school as Han Qilu"s fiancée.”
“What?!” Both An Chuxia and Han Qilu exclaim. Though both are shocked, Han Qilu"s voice is also mixed with a trace of anger.
He knew this woman is absolute trouble!
“Chuxia, don"t be in a hurry. This is for your best interest. You see, ah, if Han Qilu suddenly has a sister, rumors will spread and your ident.i.ty won"t be kept private. We want everyone to know that you are a proper woman, and as Qilu"s fiancée, you can attend school peacefully.”
An Chuxia can feel Jiang Yuan"s distress. Unable to do anything, she concedes and agrees to the farce.
An Chuxia tries to understand Yuan ayi"s situation and the promise she made on her mother"s deathbed. Chuxia didn"t want to cry in front of her, but she felt utterly abandoned. It was Jiang Yuan who made sure she is protected like she was her own child.
She remembers the day she arrived at the Han mansion Their flowerbed is probably bigger than her room but all she could feel at that time was… emptiness. She did not feel the kindness. But in the end… .
“Ayi, is there no other way?” she asks Jiang Yuan seriously before putting down the chopsticks. Chuxia asks herself, “Is there no other way to be enrolled?”
But she doesn"t want to lose the opportunity to attend Stein College.
“Don"t press the issue, An Chuxia. Don"t think I don"t know what you"re thinking!” He can"t stand An Chuxia"s seemingly innocent expression. Han Qilu stands up and says, “I cannot pretend to be your fiancé! “
