Chapter 646: Cinderclast Dimension
An eight-lane road that connected Cinderclast City to the outside world was constructed in half-a-day. A watchtower could be seen every one hundred meters. Each sentinel tower was equipped with multiple blasters that covered all directions. In the sky across the plain, drones were hovering everywhere.
At the end of this road, there was a newly-built mini fortress.
The small-sized fortress was only three-hundred meters in diameter. Crystal Cannons were set up along the building wall. The glimmer of the blasters under the suns.h.i.+ne was especially intimidating.
There was a sophisticated city floating above the fortress.
A lot of people could recognize the city. It was the Floating City left behind by the Grans. Nonetheless, its fame was propelled after it sent an A-tier elect into his grave.
The Grans’ Floating City was now called Feng Li’s Floating Castle.
It was a formidable wonder.
This place was where Qin Feng had established the spatial tunnel links to the Cindercalast Dimension.
Right after it was built just a day ago, the first thing that Qin Feng set up was the weaponry system. Soon, other stores were introduced into the fortress, including hotels, hospitals, restaurants, merchants, etc. The speed of its development was unbelievably fast.
The core of the fortress was centered at its middle square. A spatial tunnel fabricated by two spatial stones had been stabilized and could be activated anytime.
Initially, many B-tiers and C-tiers had escaped from the town when the Cindercalst Golems disappeared and the Cinder Pine began to ravage uncontrollably.
But one day after, the number of people visiting the North Sea had multiplied by several folds after the news was out.
Despite that, there was not any update being leaked out from inside the fortress. A lot of outsiders wondered whether Qin Feng had already entered the dimension and gotten a lucrative gain.
Though the outsiders were eagerly waiting, workers from Fengli had been working in stages to expand more around the perimeter. These were apparently constructed to be sold to the investors. Not only that but a large piece of land was also being transformed for cultivation purposes.
The lands around here were once covered by molten lava, making the soils rich in minerals. After transplanting Tear Flowers on this ground, there would certainly be a great harvest next spring.
Weapons were only important to the apt.i.tude user’s market. The agricultural products from Fengli, such as wheat, rice, flour, on the other hand, could be sold to the entire North Region encompa.s.sing an even larger market.
However, not everyone could put up with their stage-by-stage development. To some, the spatial tunnel was all that mattered.
“This Qin Feng is wasting our time!”
“We should charge in and investigate the spatial tunnel. How could he monopolize the tunnel for his own use?”
“Unfortunately, he has all the right. This place is under his jurisdiction. This fortress is built by his corporation. So naturally, he has the final say.”
“What is he plotting?”
They did have some answers in mind. Qin Feng either planned to ask for money or have all the resources for himself. If it was the former, they did not mind paying a little fee to gain access to the tunnel. But if it was the latter, the B-tiers would not just sit idly by and let him have his way.
Nevertheless, the B-tiers were not a hot-headed bunch. They were used to being cautious with this type of conflict and had sent in the C-tiers to investigate. Liu Hui was one of them.
As the hovercraft pa.s.sed by the fully weaponized watchtower, he was daunted by the extent Qin Feng had gone to to secure the place. He was a gunner himself so he could tell the guns embedded on the towers were all at least D-tier.
‘Qin Feng certainly did not hold back!’ He reckoned in a place like the North Sea, a normal sentinel tower at most only required an F-tier weapon. But Qin Feng had gone overboard and equipped the tower with D-rank!
As they approached the fortress, Liu Hui realized what he saw before was only child’s play.
The Crystal Cannons on the fortress seemed to be C-tier. Some of the larger cannons could even be categorized into B-tier.
The closer he got, the more daunting the fortress became. He subconsciously slowed down his hover car and became more vigilant.
Liu Hui was stopped in front of the fortress. Guarding the gate was a C-tier ability user.
He was Qin Feng’s new subordinate newly recruited from Dusan—Yuan Xiaoguang.
“The fee to enter is 5 million. The lowest tier allowed is C5.” Yuan Xiaoguang was spirited when he finally saw a visitor. He had been sent to guard the gate the day before. It was a temporary placement, as his job here was to deliver the message and deter new visitors. He was a little upset when he did not get to flex his muscles at anyone on the first day.
Liu Hui was a little unhappy when he heard about the rule. “I am just one sub-tier lower. I am a C4-tier gunner. Could you please let me through?”
“One sub-tier makes all the difference. But if you are confident enough and think of yourself as highly as a prodigy, then I won’t mind letting you in,” Yuan Xiaoguang said.
Liu Hui’s purpose was to gather information so he did not insist on entering. Instead, he began to chat with Yuan Xiaoguang.
Yuan Xiaoguang was bored too so he did not mind the company.
“What’s Governor Qin’s purpose of building this place? I heard that there’s already a tunnel activated inside. What will he do with it?”
“It’s not something you should worry about now. Only B-tiers would be allowed to enter the tunnel.”
“For free?”
“Of course not! The fee would be 100 billion,” Yuan Xiaoguang answered carefreely.
Liu Hui was almost choked by his own saliva. His eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
“Are you kidding me? How much did you say?”
“100 billion. Do you think it’s a lot?” Yuan Xiaoguang raised his eyebrow. “As you know, the crystal core of a Cinderclast Golem is worth 30 billion in the market. Killing 4 golems will break even the fee. Now tell me again, do you think the price is too much for a B-tier?”
Liu Hui was speechless. Indeed, it seemed to be worth it for a B-tier.
However, there was something important missing in this seemingly “flawless” calculation.
“How about the risk? The place must be full of Cinderclast Golems, with lava everywhere. Who knows what other danger might be lurking in there? It would be a waste if the B-tier couldn’t kill a single golem in the end!”
Yuan Xiaoguang snorted, “Then it would be their own fault. These past few days, President Qin has entered and returned safely three times. The number of power cores he brought back could already be lumped into a small hill. If others can’t do it, then it simply means they are incapable.”
Liu Hui’s head was spinning now. He was getting too much mind-boggling information at one go—the extravagant price of the ticket and the small hill of power cores Qin Feng had gathered in three days.
“Why are you asking anyway? Not that you can enter the dimension. You would be cooked before even setting foot in the dimension.”
“That’s right. Not that I am here to get access to the portal.” Liu Hui finally remembered his scouting purpose.
“How about this, I will pay you 5 million and you let me go in to take a look. I don’t have the money to enter the tunnel anyway.”
Yuan Xiaoguang thought about it and nodded. “Fair enough. Go in then.”
“Thanks, bro!”
Liu Hui paid the money and entered the fortress. He realized there was nothing unique inside the fortress, except for the two giant pillars at the center square used to activate the tunnel. Beside the two pillars was listed the rules for those who wish to access it.
