Chapter 816: A Newfound Ally
“Mind your own business and leave me alone. What do you know? I am the one nurturing the Devourer. This world is tailor-made for me!” Chu Fan’s eyes were consumed by insanity. “As long as I stay here, I would be safe from Z. I am confident that in less than a year, the Devourer would become a beast deity under my cultivation.”
To Chu Fan, this new world presented him with an opportunity of a lifetime.
“One year?” Qin Feng was baffled.
That was pretty short. Even Qin Feng, who had grown with little hindrance ever since he was reborn, had spent three years to reach where he was at now.
Though he had surpa.s.sed his old self in the previous life, he had yet to attain the same apt.i.tude user tier. He was still not the A-tier that many would look up to without questioning his credibility.
Nonetheless, Qin Feng shook his head. “Even so, can you return to the real world without my help?”
Actually, Chu Fan would not have met the Devourer if not because of Qin Feng.
In Qin Feng’s memory, Chungluo City had become an abandoned, wasted land in his past life. The entire city had been trampled to dust, without anyone living to tell the story.
Besides, without Qin Feng, where else could Z find Leviathan’s cells to create Devourer?
It seemed that Chu Fang was really trapped in here now. He could never leave by himself.
All these events were connected, which was instigated by a little flap of the b.u.t.terfly’s wings.
Chu Fan was stunned. An idea then quickly came into his mind and he blurted out, “You said earlier that you are not with Z? The enemy of an enemy is a friend. Why don’t we collaborate then?”
Once he teamed up with Qin Feng, then he could enter and leave this dimension freely. Chu Fan had witnessed what Qin Feng was capable of, be it the stairway or the spatial tunnel. He could tell Qin Feng had a huge team rallied behind him.
Qin Feng was intrigued by the suggestion. “If so, you have to at least show me your sincerity. As a general of the Human Alliances, I can’t just sit and let the rest of the survivors suffer in here. They deserve to live even though they have no courage to escape. Since you would be staying here for a while, rescue them for my sake.” Qin Feng paused, then continued. “As you are aware, the flesh and blood of these beasts could stimulate human’s potential and strengthen even the non-awakened commoners. Why don’t you help me distribute the flesh and train the commoners in here into apt.i.tude users? At least they would have a better chance to survive going forward.”
It was better to give them the fis.h.i.+ng tool rather than the fish.
It would be impossible for Qin Feng to save everyone as he did before. After missing the first opportunity to escape, the remaining people would never muster enough courage to leave their temporary shelter. Rather than trying to convince them to leave, it was better to equip them with strength. They would then have the confidence to leave their comfort zone.
Qin Feng commanded further, “I will open the tunnel once a month. But beware. Each time the spatial tunnel is created, a beast wave would be triggered in here. You better hurry up.”
Chu Fan was clearly unhappy with Qin Feng’s bossy tone.
“Why are you acting like I am your subordinate? Who cares about those people?”
Qin Feng laughed it off. “You are still not in the position to be my ally.”
Chu Fan was obviously dissatisfied. “Don’t you dare look down on my Devourer. You have no right to talk to me like that here. Don’t forget, your internal force and consciousness have no use in this dimension.”
While they were busy talking, the Devourer was still feasting happily. Its body had continued to grow. Its ability to a.s.similate devoured energy was no less than the Leviathan.
Perhaps when Z created the beast, he had purposely focused on this particular attribute of the Leviathan.
“This thing? It’s a rubbish licker at best.”
“What??!”
Chu Fan clearly disagreed.
But in the next moment, Qin Feng kicked his legs and charged at Chu Fan and his Devourer rapidly. The absolute speed had Qin Feng vanished from Chu Fan’s sight.
Chu Fan wanted to move the Devourer but the monster responded sloppily. Before he could react, his body had left the ground and was hanging in midair.
His neck was being grasped, and the powerful grip dragged him off his footing.
Then, Qin Feng kicked the Devourer.
The tremendous force catapulted the Devourer into the air like a ball. The chubby Devourer rolled out a distance and hit on a building outside the square.
Boom!
The building shook off dust upon impact, then slowly collapsed to the ground.
It was a terrifying kick.
Luckily, Qin Feng had purposely avoided the weaker part of the Devourer. Otherwise, the beast would not have survived the kick.
“This is the true strength of your Devourer, and it is weak as h.e.l.l.” Qin Feng smiled mockingly. “Now, do I have the rights?” He let go of Chu Fan.
Chu Fan staggered before finally finding his footing among the corpses. His face was as black as charcoal.
“You!!!” Chu Fan was infuriated. He mustered his unique consciousness to recall the Devourer and was relieved to find that his pet was well and alive.
Nonetheless, he still resented Qin Feng’s ruthless act.
“As I have said, I need one more year!”
In which Qin Feng replied coldly, “Then you better do as I tell you in this one year. Otherwise, why should I collaborate with you?”
Chu Fan did not like being threatened. “Why did you let me go previously? I wouldn’t have shaken you off if you didn’t purposely let me.”
“Perhaps I just wished that Z had more headaches.”
When Chu Fan had successfully ran away, Qin Feng had indeed laid his eye on this person. After learning about his ident.i.ty, Qin Feng wanted to see just how far his hatred toward Z would carry him.
After he was reborn, Qin Feng no longer resented Z as intensely as before. He was angry because of being blindsided. Now, he understood that his past predicament was not directly caused by Z, but by his leniency toward his opportunistic a.s.sistants. Still, Qin Feng would be more than happy to see Z’s enemy grow and help him teach Z a lesson.
Chu Fan would be a great candidate to start with.
Watching from the third person point of view was better than the first person in this case.
Chu Fan glared at Qin Feng viciously. But he knew Qin Feng did not buy his saying of “the enemy of an enemy is a friend.”
Qin Feng would not accept empty promises. If you wished to work with Qin Feng, then you must first do something practical for him.
“What a nuisance!” Chu Fan was unwilling to take over such a burdening task. Nonetheless, it was not his choice to make.
As for Qin Feng, he had no business here anymore and could focus on his own matters.
“I will take it as a yes. Looking forward to working with you.”
Qin Feng smiled, then said, “I am here to burn the bodies of the beasts. But since your Devourer would need as much food as possible, it can have them all. Remember, don’t leave anything behind.”
