"Mimi, are you in there?"The sixteen-year-old girl walks towards the wooden door, turning the k.n.o.b she opens up to see a large bedroom with papers scattered all across the floor, in the center of the chaotic mess was a sleeping little girl.
Brown curls covering her pet.i.te face.
Giggling softly, the older girl walks towards the sleeping child.
Looking at the papers surrounding the girl, she bends down to pick up a piece. Written on it was a project idea for a very elite company.
Such an interesting child.
Turning her gaze to the peacefully sleeping girl she slowly pushes curly strands of hair away from her face.
"Mimi, wake up, I bought some crepes. Your favorite!"
With the word crepe leaving the girls mouth, the child known as Mimi"s eyes shot open. Jolting up she stares at her older sister with eager eyes.
"Is it apple?" Mimi"s little voice says, a tinge of excitement hidden in her voice.
Laughing joyfully, Emily pats Mimi"s soft little head. "Mhm, I got two so we can both eat together."
Pa.s.sing the plastic bag to Mimi, the little girl clutches it tightly in her hands and begins to walk towards a wooden drawer.
Opening the drawer, she takes out two silver forks and white paper plates.
"Wow, you really came prepared," Mimi"s sister chuckles finding her actions adorable.
"It"s too complicated to go downstairs and get it," Mimi shrugs before placing the container of crepes on the dining table in the center of her large bedroom.
Hearing those words, a tight line appears on Emily"s face. Turning around to see her older sister"s expression, Mimi laughs.
"You know you shouldn"t frown too much, it makes you look weird."
"Mimi," Emily pouts as she walks towards the table, the aroma of fresh apple crepes filling her nostrils.
"Don"t worry, dealing with the family business is too hard for me to understand. Too much power can be a bore sometimes."
Placing a crepe on each plate, Mimi plops herself onto the hardwood dining chair. Without a second thought, she joyously digs into the apple crepe a large smile creeping onto her face.
Her sister sitting across from her watches the child happily scarf down her food without a care in the world.
It seemed that she never really cared about things that didn"t hold anything entertaining.
"Have you tried talking to dad about your ideas, surely if you were to tell him the two of you could-"
Before Emily could finish her sentence, Mimi cuts her off her young voice echoing in the room.
"Dear sister, being stuck in my room every day, I"ll obviously become bored. But there"s nothing more boring than talking business with our stuck-up father."
Taking another bite of her crepe, she continues to speak.
"Besides, he should be happy having you taking care of the business. He doesn"t need me. If he doesn"t have any need to talk to me then I won"t either."
Emily felt stunned that she was hearing these words come out of the mouth of a five-year-old girl.
She always knew Mimi was very aware of her relationship with the rest of the Hirogori family.
They saw her as a waste, a disgrace in the Hirogori family.
Just not to such an extent.
Mimi knew that if she were to die unexpectedly no one would care but Emily. But she never voiced this out to her sister knowing she"d disown the fact her father wouldn"t care for his own daughter.
It was the truth though.
The two had never spoken to one another, she never experienced any parental love besides from her sister Emily who practically cared for her since she was little.
She didn"t really crave it, as long as she had her sister by her side even though she overshadowed her in every aspect, Mimi didn"t mind.
Her sister truly was an amazing person.
Treating everyone equally no matter their status, she was a soft and gentle person that the whole Hirogori family adored. Strange how she"s related to that demon she calls her father.
"Alright too much talking, let"s eat and then you can tell me about your day."
Taking a mouthful of the sweet crispy crepe, Mimi let"s out a satisfied groan. Emily could see the little girls eyes sparkle with joy, she could have sworn she saw a ray of light appear behind her.
Shaking her head with a smile, she reaches over to wipe a coat of powdered sugar off Mimi"s pink little lips.
"I"ll always stay with you Mimi, so don"t worry about being alone."
Swallowing the crepe Mimi giggles happily at her sister"s words. "Well, then I"m holding you up to your words."
Who would have thought life would be so cruel to break those meaningful words.
