Chapter 1535 - 1535 Withheld The Truth
1535 Withheld The Truth
Huo Yao put on a serious face, but Liu Qian disregarded it. He simply sighed and said, “Normal students are more than happy to steal credit. Why do you keep pus.h.i.+ng it away?”
Huo Yao waved her hand nonchalantly and said shamelessly, “What can I say? I’m a selfless woman!”
Liu Qian was tickled by Huo Yao’s words. “Enough. I know what you mean. I will speak to them about this later.”
“Okay,” acknowledged Huo Yao before changing the subject. “Oh yes. Did the DO Corporation get back to you?”
!!
J had just texted her yesterday asking about her AL systems.
Liu Qian’s eyes gleamed slightly before he did his utmost to speak in a completely normal tone. “Perhaps they are still considering the collaboration. Ever since they contacted me once, they stopped talking to me.”
Huo Yao nodded. “I’m sure they will call you soon. Don’t worry.”
Liu Qian was preoccupied, so he did not think deeply about Huo Yao’s words. Also, he was worried that Huo Yao might detect anything amiss, so he said, “Considering the field, the company has a lot of options out there. I suggest you stop thinking about it for now until we hear back from the company. Perhaps they might not even choose to use our technology.”
Huo Yao noticed Liu Qian did not seem hopeful about winning the project, so she wanted to comfort him.
In hindsight, even if she comforted him, he probably would not take her seriously, so she decided to stay quiet.
Someone knocked on the office door.
Liu Qian wanted to change the subject and stop talking about the project, so the knocking came as a relief for him. He promptly said, “Enter.”
When the door opened, Liu Qian saw Qi Hui entering the room and promptly frowned. He stood up and said to Huo Yao, “Why don’t you go ahead?”
He clearly looked a lot tenser than before.
Huo Yao glanced at Liu Qian and nodded. “Okay then.”
She got up and walked out of the room. When she went past Qi Hui, she did not bother to greet him.
Qi Hui frowned without throwing a temper. He simply looked at Liu Qian and said, “I’m here to ask you about my proposal. Have you made up your mind yet? Mr. Wei is still waiting for an answer.”
Huo Yao halted briefly when she got to the door, but she was not in the habit of eavesdropping, so she closed the door behind her.
Liu Qian checked to see if Huo Yao was gone and the door was closed before he said mockingly to Qi Hui, “I have already given up the project, but I have to draw the line there. I’m not going to do anything else for you.”
“Why are you so stubborn?” Qi Hui rubbed his brow in annoyance. “It will serve you no good to get on the wrong side of the inst.i.tute.”
Liu Qian scoffed and answered. “You want the patent and you want to steal the project from us. Once this is settled, you even expect us to be at the inst.i.tute’s beck and call. Mr. Qi, if you were in the same position, would you have done it?”
Qi Hui remained unperturbed and simply said calmly, “The company insists on working with Wei Yong. What do you expect me to do?”
“Sorry. I can’t betray my students.” Liu Qian turned around and walked back to his desk. He did not want to continue with the subject.
Qi Hui took a couple of steps forward, leaned against the table, and asked unexpectedly. “I heard that she submitted a paper to a journal.”
Liu Qian had his hands on the drawer, but his hands suddenly froze as he raised his head hastily.
