Chapter 65: The First Lesson of the New SemesterFike decided to give the Prismatic Crystal of the Auto Repelling Demon Formation a name.
“Let"s see…If Exotic Beasts below the level of Demon Prince-tier are unable to attack me, hmm…”
After racking his brains for a while, he was still unable to think of a good name.
“Forget it, let"s just call it Rainbow!”
As he had just arrived, he still wasn"t particularly familiar with the campus of Yogmo Academy.
After unpacking his luggage, Fike decided to take a stroll around the academy.
Walking out of the dormitory building, he wandered around the streets in boredom.
He gazed vacantly at the various towering buildings of all shapes and sizes, and once again sighed in his heart.
"This Yogmo Academy is really rich. Tall buildings are everywhere."
As he walked aimlessly, Fike soon found that he had wandered into the area with the stage that he saw when the examiner had been leading the way.
At the moment, the stage was holding a battle between two students from the Spell and Melee Schools.
The other students surrounding the area cheered on excitedly.
“Red will definitely win! Quick, smash that kid into pieces! He actually dares to provoke our Spell School! He"s really brainless!”
“Blue will definitely win! Break that kid"s limbs! He actually dares to slander our Melee School! Beat him up!”
Fike watched as the youth holding a staff channeled his strength, preparing to cast a spell.
The other compet.i.tor, wielding a double-edged sword, took advantage of this momentary pause to quickly pounce toward him.
Just as the double-edged sword had been about to slash the throat of the youth holding the staff, a bolt of lightning descended from the sky, rus.h.i.+ng directly toward the body of the melee contender.
Just as the strike was about to hit, at the critical moment, the youth with the blade screeched to a halt as he pushed his feet back, quickly dodging.
The lightning bolt missed, striking the spot where the target had been less than a second ago.
A yellow spark ignited in the eyes of the mage with the staff as his fierce gaze glared in the direction of his opponent.
The yellow light suddenly dissipated.
At the same moment, the youth with the blade suddenly clutched his chest before collapsing on the ground.
“Blue, you"ve already lost. Surrender!”
As soon as the mage had finished speaking, the melee fighter suddenly turned into a wisp of smoke.
An afterimage flashed past as the real body of the student with the blade reappeared behind the mage.
“You"re the one who"s lost, Red. Even if you train for another 100 years, your Spell School will never be a match for our Melee School! Do you understand?”
As Fike watched on at the battle between the two people in front of him, he quickly evaluated and understood the attack style of the youth with the double-edged blade.
He had been deliberately selling a flaw to the mage student, wanting his opponent to believe that he"d seized the opportunity of the timing of the spell.
However, it was a trap. Once the mage"s winning skill missed, he was simply a lamb to the slaughter.
This was a well known weakness of mages.
Most mages needed a certain amount of time to acc.u.mulate energy to cast their skills.
The length of time needed for that was completely determined by an individual"s own talent.
For a prodigy like Fike, not only did he cast his skills instantaneously, but he also did not require the use of a magic staff to do so.
Looking at the unyielding youth with the blade, Fike was actually tempted to help out, and let the mage student vent his anger.
However, he knew that he could not be too ostentatious.
He had already suffered a loss because of it once.
In the wake of such a battle, none of the students from the Spell School wore a good expression.
The proud victor stood on the stage and continued to gloat.
“The strength of your Spell School is indeed ordinary, completely incomparable to the Melee School!”
Hearing his words, the students from the Spell School collectively clenched their fists.
However, they knew that they were not strong enough to fight against Blue.
Red was already relatively strong among the students of the Spell School.
“Even Red can"t beat Blue?”
“I really want to go up and punch him twice, but unfortunately, I can"t beat him.”
Fike found it funny as he listened to the complaints of the students in the audience.
They wanted so dearly to take out their anger on this guy, but they didn"t want to face him themselves. As such, it was all they could do to feel sorry for themselves.
“Hey, that white-haired guy over there, what are you laughing at? What"s so funny?”
Seeing that Blue had taken the initiative to greet him, Fike responded back.
“I"m not laughing at anything. I just think that if that student over there with the staff had been able to see through your tricks, the outcome may have been different.”
Hearing his words, Blue instantly grew quite interested in the newcomer in front of him.
“Judging from what you"ve said, you should be quite capable.”
Fike did not answer this time. He simply wanted to turn around and leave.
Seeing that this guy was not answering him, Blue became arrogant.
“From that white-haired kid"s appearance, I"m guessing he"s an Earth person. Do all of you Earth people like to be cowards immediately after bragging? Hahahaha.
“I"ve also heard that you Earthlings are very good at killing each other.”
Hearing this, Fike could not stand it anymore.
He flashed onto the stage, putting a hand on Blue"s shoulder.
Blue had not noticed Fike at all.
In the blink of an eye, this white-haired kid had appeared before him, close enough to put a hand on his shoulder.
“Looks like you want a fight with me. Is that so? Heh.”
Staring at the arrogant melee student, Fike spoke in an indifferent tone.
“I just want to teach you that if you want to improve your combat strength, you must first learn respect!”
Blue spat arrogantly.
“From the looks of you, you must be a new student. Now, let me properly teach you your first lesson of the semester.”
Without further ado, both sides prepared for battle.
Fike placed his hands behind his back as he waited for Blue"s attack, leaving himself full of openings.
Glaring at the slightly contemptuous Fike, Blue increased his speed, launching himself toward his opponent to attack.
“You have the nerve to say such arrogant words when you"ve only got this much speed?”
As he spoke, Fike engaged an arm and caught Blue"s ankle, which had been in mid-air.
The melee fighter immediately retaliated, quickly drawing his double-edged blade and stabbing at Fike"s eyes.
Fike only needed two fingers to catch the razor sharp edge.
“It seems that not only have you not learned respect yourself, you have adopted such a vicious and boastful att.i.tude. Today, let me correct you properly.”
Fike let go of Blue, allowing him to retreat back to his original stance.
Fike was now channeling the airflow at his fingertips. Looking closely at his right hand, one could almost see the small whirlwinds cycling around it.
“Let me teach you how to do close combat.”
Fike flashed behind Blue again at a breakneck speed, completely undetectable by his opponent.
In the blink of an eye, the Sword Qi at his fingertips had cut a wound on Blue"s cheek.
Blood instantly trickled out.
Blue stared at the silver-haired youth in front of him with his mouth agape. He couldn"t help but feel shocked.
“How can you be so fast?”
Fike smiled.
“The first lesson of the semester huh? Let me teach you!”
