Chapter 1274: Terrain
Of course, professional players were certainly not as superficial as ordinary players.
The blinding effect was definitely inflicted on w.a.n.g Yu. However, they could not understand how w.a.n.g Yu execute such a precise kick in his suboptimal condition.
The common players could not even grasp the intensity of the murderous pressure that w.a.n.g Yu inflicted on his opponents.
Sacred Mountain was even more tragic because he did not have a single clue on how he had died.
Fortunately, his opponent was w.a.n.g Yu. There was no shame in losing to an opponent that even Tranquility Yields Transcendence lost to.
The Kyushu Squad also felt that such an outcome was reasonable.
After the first round, the score was 3:2 in favour of Team A Murder of Crows.
Everyone knew that a lead in the first round was not indicative of anything significant. After all, the first round tested a team’s individual strength while the second round tested their comprehensive squad strength.
Kyushu Squad was stacked with experts as compared to Team A Murder Of Crows. If they were unlucky and the weaker players were chosen to fight, the outcome would have been disastrous.
The other players were well acquainted with the tactical nous of Team A Murder Of Crows. The second round was always their weak spot. Everything in this round depended on fate. If w.a.n.g Yu was called up, they would have a chance at a decent showing.
The Kyushu Squad was unlike any other teams that Team A Murder Of Crows had fought before. There was not a single player that was a pushover in their squad. Even Evil Rampage had suffered a loss in their hands. Other than w.a.n.g Yu, no other player had an absolute chance of victory.
In this way, the odds of a Team A Murder Of Crows fell even lower. If things got out of hand, they might be clean swept 10:0.
Back in the lounge, the members of the Quan Zhen Sect were as noisy as ever.
This bunch was as carefree as ever. They were content with doing their best and having fun with the whole experience. Since they had made it all the way from the amateur compet.i.tion to their current standing, they were already very satisfied with their performance. The only sore point was that they were forced by Fearless to bet ten thousand gold on their eventual victory.
Because of the last point, everyone started throwing hate towards Fearless.
Fearless did not take any of the insults to heart and declared with a certain lightness in his tone, “There is no use scolding me. You are still in control of whether the money is being returned to you… As long as you listen to my commands, we still have a slight chance of victory.”
“Are you sure?”
As everyone heard him, they beamed with delight, “Fearless granddaddy, as long as we can win back the money, we will listen to anything you say.”
This was a cla.s.sic example of Fearless’s domineering leaders.h.i.+p style. He knew that the players from Quan Zhen Sect were a bunch of wild untamable horses so he had to find leverage to make them listen to him.
Obtaining the leverage was the key.
Although w.a.n.g Yu was similarly domineering, w.a.n.g Yu would only hurt them physically in-game with a beating. They did not take any financial loss and it was purely in their interest.
Since these players were so money-minded, using their ten thousand gold to gain their undivided attention was the best form of leverage.
Seeing their docile att.i.tudes, Fearless smiled, “That better be the case!”
…
In the Kyushu Squad’s lounge, Boundless Ocean and the other players were in their seats getting some much-needed rest.
They knew that their big break was going to come in the second round. Their only hope was that they would not encounter w.a.n.g Yu in the first match in the second round or it would be all over.
After a brief ten minutes, the rest time ended and both sides re-entered the arena.
In the second round, Team A Murder Of Crows chose the map.
Fearless glanced over at w.a.n.g Yu and w.a.n.g Yu nodded in agreement. After looking at their choice for another moment, they pressed the select key.
At this moment, the scene of the arena began to change as it transitioned to a mountain peak.
As they saw this map, the audience squirmed, “Hm? Isn’t that Overlooking Peak?”
In general, the map should not be too large. Since Overlooking Peak was a mountainous terrain, the horizontal distance between the scene was not excessively big but the peak enlarged the effective playing arena.
Boundless Ocean was not at all surprised that w.a.n.g Yu had chosen this map.
Since there was a disparity in strength between both sides, it was expected that Team A Murder Of Crows would try to make it up with a favourable terrain.
The starting point of the Overlooking Peak terrain was one player on the peak and the other player at the base of it. Team A Murder Of Crows was obviously trying to take advantage of the alt.i.tude advantage to score some victories.
After the terrain was selected, next was to choose the competing players.
Under the glow of the system lights, and a brilliant flash, two players were sent in the arena for the first match.
The player on the mountain top was Ling Longmeng.
In terms of strength, Ling Longmeng was not much stronger than Frost Blade.
Ling Longmeng was a stereotypical Control Archer. The more complex the terrain was, the more advantage she held over her opponent. As a long-distance player, this terrain completely suited her fighting style.
Standing at the foot of the mountain was a Kyushu Squad player known as All Encompa.s.sing. He was a Warrior and he looked like a rough and battle-hardened, middle-aged man.
Although he looked uncouth, he was undeniably strong. As the top Warrior within Kyushu Squad, he had once challenged the G.o.d of War.
He was defeated in the end but he had managed to force Tranquility Yields Transcendence into a bitter battle. He was even deemed by Tranquility Yields Transcendence as a player that was most likely to defeat him.
It was obvious that Tranquility Yields Transcendence had miscalculated…
That being said, All Encompa.s.sing was also not someone to be underestimated.
<> was just a game and they did not recreate the Overlooking Peak to its exact dimensions. Although Overlooking Peak was a mountain peak, in actual fact, it was only tens of metres high. All Encompa.s.sing could easily lay his eyes on Ling Longmeng on the peak.
As the match started, without much hesitation, All Encompa.s.sing rushed up to the top of the mountain top.
Ling Longmeng was an Archer and her eyes were sharp and heightened to far away targets. All Encompa.s.sing movements were all within her grasp.
Seeing the onrus.h.i.+ng All Encompa.s.sing, Ling Longmeng was not hurried in her own movements. She raised the cross bow in her hands and deftly notched an arrow flying towards her target.
“Whoos.h.!.+ Whoos.h.!.+”
With the whistling of the arrow breaking the air, two arrows raced towards All Encompa.s.sing.
All Encompa.s.sing readied himself and drew his sword.
“Dang!”
One of the arrows was smashed into smithereens as All Encompa.s.sing turned to face the other arrow.
At this instance, the arrow that was in mid-air suddenly arced and landed onto the ground beneath All Encompa.s.sing.
