Chapter 1279: Impeccable Timing Of Skill Release
Upon seeing that Omnidirectional had lost to Spring Halo, the Kyushu Squad indignantly questioned him, “Why were you so stupid to store your s.h.i.+eld?”
“You guys don’t know anything!” Omnidirectional quickly displayed the status of his s.h.i.+eld in exasperation, “Do you think I am really willing to die? But if I did not make that choice, I would definitely have lost my s.h.i.+eld!”
“This…”
The durability of Omnidirectional’s s.h.i.+eld had indeed fell a fair bit which led to everyone being taken aback.
At this instance, the remaining players that had yet to fight were looking furtively at each other. They were aghast at the possibility of the same thing happening to them.
F*ck, was there anything worse in the game than the destruction of one’s equipment? This old man was not only wretched but he was simply evil.
…
After a round of discussion, the light column fell on Smooth As Silk which was the next compet.i.tor up to fight.
Smooth As Silk was a player that was extremely fond of gossip. He could turn any small incident into something big. It was no wonder that his cla.s.s was an a.s.sa.s.sin since he was as quick as the rumors that he spread.
In <>, a.s.sa.s.sin was unmatched in PK except by tanks.
A Shaman’s attack damage output was not high enough and they had a long casting time. They were not suited for 1v1 and especially dealing with other jobs with a high agility stat.
Furthermore, Spring Halo did not have the ma.s.sive AOE type of skill like Ming Du therefore he had little chance of victory against an a.s.sa.s.sin.
As soon as the match started, Smooth As Silk activated [Stealth] and disappeared from Spring Halo’s vision.
Spring Halo smiled to himself as he unhurriedly made his way down the mountain.
The audience could not understand what was happening.
Sh*t, the Shaman was a long-range cla.s.s after all. That had mediocre physical defense and were as vulnerable to a.s.sa.s.sins when compared to Magicians. According to common logic, Spring Halo should have retreated as far as possible from his opponent. Why did he even take the initiative to descend the mountain? Was he crazy?
When Boundless Ocean saw Spring Halo’s move, he was astonished.
The audience’s logical deduction was indeed correct but creating distance between an a.s.sa.s.sin was easy to say in theory but difficult to execute in the midst of battle. The reason was that it was difficult to detect an a.s.sa.s.sin in [Stealth] therefore there was no way to gauge whether one was indeed successful in creating distance at all.
The a.s.sa.s.sin was soundless and figureless. Even if a player wanted to kite, there was no target to realistically kite away from.
On top of that, the top of the mountain was a vast expanse of flat ground. If the a.s.sa.s.sin were to reach there, the Shaman would be definitely at a terrain disadvantage.
Spring Halo’s strategy was an ingenious one.
He was going to use the terrain to limit his opponent’s field of movement.
Relatively speaking, an a.s.sa.s.sin was leaps and bounds more mobile than a Shaman.
However, since there was only a single path connecting the base of the mountain to the peak, Smooth As Silk could not fully manifest his advantage in movement speed.
Furthermore, the mountain road was narrow. Spring Halo could casually throw a [Dark Barrier] to form a blockade on the mountain road. With this tactic, Spring Halo could control the flow of the battle and greatly improve his skill hit rate onto Smooth As Silk.
Team A Murder Of Crows were really a bunch of players that did not conform to traditional norms.
The mountaintop was only a few tens of metres high. For a game character, they could easily traverse that distance in a matter of seconds.
Under the intense scrutiny of the audience, Spring Halo and Smooth As Silk were inching closer and closer.
Just when Smooth As Silk was less than five metres away from Spring Halo, Spring Halo suddenly stopped in his tracks and rushed back up the mountain.
“???”
They were terribly confused at Spring Halo’s actions. Did this guy only realise that would happen when he decided to descend the mountain?
Smooth As Silk himself was puzzled at Spring Halo’s sudden change in movement. However, his target was right in front of him, so how could he let up the pace?
Smooth As Silk did not waste another moment as he activated [Haste].
Under the effects of [Haste], Smooth As Silk’s movement speed was extremely quick and he easily caught up with Spring Halo. Raising his dagger, he executed [Backstab].
Spring Halo was seemingly going to die under Smooth As Silk’s blade when he enacted [Dark Barrier]. The barrier rose just in-between Smooth As Silk and Spring Halo.
“Duang!”
Smooth As Silk’s head was smashed into the barrier.
At this instant, Spring Halo flashed over and his face turned into a wretched smile. With his left hand, he threw a fistful of green poisonous mist directly on Smooth As Silk’s face. Smooth As Silk was impaired under the toxic substance.
“!!!”
The audience saw the sequence of the battle and everyone was completely dumbfounded.
It was a long time before they could regain their senses. Their eyes were wide open as they exclaimed, “F*ck! How is this possible?”
A Shaman had a long cast time for his skills. They were much slower in casting spells compared to a Magician.
Even if an a.s.sa.s.sin was not in [Stealth], it was extremely difficult for an opponent to hit the a.s.sa.s.sin accurately, what more Smooth As Silk who was also even in [Haste].
Spring Halo’s predictive ability was simply too awe-inspiring.
The entire Kyushu Squad was flabbergasted by the scene before them, “This… What was this even? Could he see Smooth As Silk from the very start?”
Smooth As Silk’s level of strength was well understood by the other players from Kyushu Squad. It was not top tier within their squad but he was still a professional after all.
Since Spring Halo’s [Dark Barrier] was quicker to be enacted, Smooth As Silk could not dodge in time. If Smooth As Silk was quicker in his stab, he would have easily killed Spring Halo.
Spring Halo’s exquisite management of his skills was something that the other players from Kyushu Squad might not even be able to achieve.
One had to know that Smooth As Silk was in [Stealth] throughout the battle. Even if Spring Halo had some form of anti-stealth skills, his detection range would not exceed five metres.
At such a close distance, an a.s.sa.s.sin would easily dispatch Spring Halo before he even had an opportunity to use his skills. However, Spring Halo had accurately grasped the opportune moment to cast [Dark Barrier]. The reason that he had suddenly changed direction was to bait Smooth As Silk to use [Haste].
The only explanation for Spring Halo’s impeccable timing of his skill release was that he could see his opponent from the start.
“No! You guys don’t understand!” Boundless Ocean shook his head, “Stealth is definitely working but Spring Halo could accurately deduce Smooth As Silk’s location because he had already calculated it beforehand!”
“Calculated?”
Everyone shuddered slightly upon hearing those words, “What do you mean?”
Boundless Ocean continued, “It is what you guys are guessing!”
“Si…” The players slowly contemplated Boundless Ocean’s words and sucked in a breath of cold air. They exclaimed, “You are definitely pulling our legs!”
