Chapter 342: Traps

After settling the s.h.i.+eld, Fearless looked down to continue looting. This time, he took out a book.
[Earth-shattering Impact]: Uncommon skill, leap into the air and smash the ground with player"s weapon. All enemies in a 500 radius will be thrown into the air. Job Requirement: Warrior, Knight.
This was an AOE damage and crowd control skill… Almost equivalent to a weakened version of [Mountain Shattering Blow], but [Mountain Shattering Blow] did not allow one to teleport. Despite that, [Mountain Shattering Blow] was a high tier level 40 skill, hence at this point, it was considered rather valuable.
"Warriors and Knights, roll!" Fearless displayed the skill book then said.
In the battle just now, other than w.a.n.g Yu and the two Guardians who kept the boss under control and contributed a little more, the rest more or less contributed the same amount. Thus, they could only roll now.
After a round of rolling the dice, Sanguine Blade was the luckiest and rolled a 90 which convincingly won everyone else. So he kept the [Earth-shattering Impact] skill book into his bag.
Although this dungeon was a h.e.l.l tier dungeon, but the Sunset Light Holy Beetle wasn"t that high tier and wasn"t an Independent mode boss, hence other than the s.h.i.+eld and skill book, the rest of the items were very common - just a few Silver tier equipment. w.a.n.g Yu and co. didn"t really care about them, so those outside of Quan Zhen Sect took them away.
After pa.s.sing through the Twilight Temple"s Great Hall, the party arrived in the second floor of Twilight Temple.
The second floor wasn"t a palace anymore, and instead looked like the interior of the Dusk Mountain Range. Outside of the hall, a valley of many meters wide lay before them and the path forward was diagonally below the edge.
Fearless took point and stretched his neck out to scout the path ahead. The bottom of the valley was nowhere in sight. If one were to fall in, he would definitely fall out of the dungeon.
"This… There should be a bridge nearby right…" Fearless gazed around as he spoke.
w.a.n.g Yu chuckled: "It"s only this close. We can just jump over. What bridge do we need?"
Angrily, Fearless responded: "Why don"t you try jumping over first?!"
At this moment, regardless whether players were raising their levels or clearing dungeons, they would have jumped up high before. But they would not have had to jump far, hence they wouldn"t even know how far they could jump. Dying in a h.e.l.l tier dungeon meant incurring some losses, so who would dare to use their lives to joke around?
"Ha ha, I"ll do it."
While laughing, w.a.n.g Yu ran a few steps forward, without using any skills, jumped over the valley, did a somersault in the air, and landed on the opposite side…
"Quickly come over, it"s very close, you can just jump over." w.a.n.g Yu waved and shouted.
"..." Fearless was stunned for a moment. Then he shouted back: "It doesn"t count if you do it!"
Jumping over a dozen meters was almost like a playing a game to w.a.n.g Yu, but this insignificant distance to him could very well kill someone else.
Just as Fearless finished his sentence, Vainglory followed suit, and while he was also a Pugilist, he wasn"t confident that he would make the jump. Hence he used [Crus.h.i.+ng Blow] to easily land on the opposite side.
"See, Vainglory also jumped over…" w.a.n.g Yu added.
"Eh…" Fearless wasn"t convinced. "Little Chicky is a Pugilist. Can I do the same as a Priest?"
Pugilists had the greatest jumping ability out of the seven major jobs. For a Priest that was physically lacking, he had poorer jumping ability than Templars, hence Fearless didn"t dare to compare himself to Vainglory.
Upon seeing that Vainglory used a skill to jump over, Crotch Lord took a short run to the edge of the cliff and activated [Charge]
The land on the opposite side was much lower than the platform the group was currently standing on. Thus, although [Charge] couldn"t allow one to jump over as reliably as [Crus.h.i.+ng Blow], the skill"s activation distance was determined by the game system. As such, Crotch Lord fell on a parabolic path, landing on the other side.
Boson, Sanguine Wall, and the others quickly picked up what was going on and they began to use skills to charge to the other side.
Fearless stared at the group of people on the opposite side, turned around to look at the Archers and Thieves, and said: "You guys have teleportation…"
Before he could finish, Yang Nuo also jumped across… Frost Blade, Darknorth Fisher, and players of other dexterity type jobs all gained confidence when seeing this. In one wave, all of them leapt over, leaving Ming Du, Spring Halo, and Sanguine Explosion beside Fearless.
Black faced, Fearless commented: "Sigh, so it"s the three of us useless people that can only rely on each other."
"Haha!" Ming Du laughed coldly. Then, he teleported to the other side.
"Brother Spring…" Fearless turned to look at Spring Halo, only to see him turn into a cloud of black fog and drift over.
Sanguine Explosion grew impatient. He kept his weapon, steeled his heart, and leapt forward. Who knew if it was due to his incorrect calculation, but when he was 10cm away from the opposite side, he fell into the valley…
Thankfully w.a.n.g Yu was there, so with his [Void Seizing Palms], Sanguine Explosion was pulled up. Sanguine Explosion managed to pull through this time, but he was still frightened to death.
At this point, there was only Fearless left.
"Jump!" Boson was about to blow up when he saw Fearless hesitating. The large sword in his hands was slammed into the ground while he shouted.
"I…" Fearless shook his head. "Will fall in."
"What are you afraid of? I"ll catch you?" w.a.n.g Yu rea.s.sured him.
However, Fearless still shook his head: "What if you miss?"
"Bullsh*t!" w.a.n.g Yu raged. "How could I miss… Eh, are you scared…"
"Er…" Fearless hesitated, then replied. "I"ve never been afraid of anyone before."
"Then can you jump?"
"I"ll fall…" D*mn, they were back to square one.
By then, Ming Du couldn"t wait any further. He walked to the front of the party, pointed his staff forward and swapped positions with Fearless.
Then, with a single use of teleportation, he flew back again.
Fearless exclaimed in surprise: "Eh? I actually came over?"
"F*ck!" All members of Quan Zhen Sect gave Fearless the middle finger. This guy who always said that he would rather give up his life than to lose face actually had a moment that he was afraid.
With the thickness of his skin, Fearless naturally ignored the teasing by the group and spoke as per normal: "Let"s go, let"s go! Stop wasting time…" Who was the one that had been wasting time all this while?
On the other side of the valley, everyone saw that the second floor of the Twilight Temple was a giant cave. The downwards spiralling road from the valley led to a reddish area - likely the resting place of the second boss.
Everyone proceeded along this path, but a few steps later, w.a.n.g Yu suddenly yelled out: "Quickly duck!"
The members of Quan Zhen Sect were already used to w.a.n.g Yu"s level of alertness, hence they instinctively dropped to the ground upon hearing his warning.
Although the few guys from Sanguine Alliance didn"t react as quickly, they knew that these members of Quan Zhen Sect had good judgement. When they see Quan Zhen Sect fall to the ground, they followed suit. Only Basic Numbers Squad didn"t know what was going on and they stood there in a blur.
Just then, a gigantic spiked ball came swinging their way, sc.r.a.ping Quan Zhen Sect"s and Sanguine Alliance"s members" backs.
After that, bursts of white light could be seem. Other than the Thief, Little Five, and the Archer, Little One, the other four members of Basic Numbers Squad died.
"D*mn, there"s actually traps here!" The party shouted.
