Chapter 791: Fearless’ Craftiness

[Sacred Ray] was a Priest’s fundamental ability and was known for its low damage. However, due to the skill carrying with it holy magic attributes, it emits a bright light after it is cast. In a dark environment like the Jungle Land, the holy light was even more glaring, preventing the skill from being used as a sneak attack at all.
Seeing Fearless throwing the [Sacred Ray], Open Fire raised his staff and released a [Fireball] back at him. When both skills collided, the [Fireball] engulfed the [Sacred Ray] easily. Right at this moment, Fearless suddenly appeared from behind the tree and cast [Holy Flame], locked on to Open Fire.
[Holy Flame] was a click-based ability and could not be avoided. After getting hit by it, Open Fire was inflicted with the [Silenced] status.
A Magician relied heavily on their abilities. Therefore, a silenced Magician that could not cast any abilities was equivalent to punching bag that could not retaliate.
Seeing that things were taking a turn for the worse, Open Fire immediately turned tail and ran further into the Jungle Land. As he was an agility-based Magician, he disappeared from the view of Fearless in the blink of an eye.
Just when Open Fire was about to catch a breather, a bright light suddenly appeared just in front of him. Open fire hurriedly raised his head, only to see Fearless floating above him. With a wave of his hand, a streak of light flashed across and was thrown towards Open Fire.
[Punishment Ray] was a Priest’s only ability that dealt decent damage output and could inflict high single target damage.
Of course, that was just the description of the ability in comparison with the other skills that a Priest has. In comparison with other job cla.s.ses, [Punishment Ray]’s damage was still pathetically low.
Open Fire could not dodge the ability in time and received the [Punishment Ray] head-on, causing his HP bar to drop by 20%. Magicians were one of the paper cla.s.ses. Therefore, being able to only inflict one-fifth of their total HP with a direct attack showed how pathetically low the damage of the skill was.
At the same time, the [Silenced] status on Open Fire had ended.
After glancing at his own HP bar, Open Fire smirked. He then promptly waved his staff, casting a [Snowstorm] at the area above Fearless’ head.
Fearless immediately began another round of incantations and soon after, a cross appeared before him, turning into a layer of holy ray, protecting Fearless. Following which, Fearless descended from the sky unharmed.
At this moment, Open Fire had finished the preparation for his next spell. When Fearless landed on the ground, Open Fire pointed his staff on the ground, instantly forming a layer of ice above the ground, causing Fearless’ movement speed to be reduced.
Open Fire laughed, having successfully cast the Ice Magician’s LVL 45 ultimate spell [Twin Dragons Extreme Ice Cleave].
Shortly after, two ice dragons were summoned from Open Fire’s staff, roaring in anger and flying towards Fearless.
As Fearless’ movement speed was reduced, it was impossible for him to dodge the range of the twin dragons that were flying towards him. Soon, he was engulfed by the ability.
Just when Open Fire let his guard down as he thought that Fearless had been eliminated by his ability, a faint and indiscernible ray of light slowly flew from Fearless, whose HP bar had been emptied out, through the ice dragons and towards Open Fire.
As Fearless had been cruelly wiped out by the ice dragons, he was teleported outside of the arena.
As Open Fire was feeling proud of himself, he did not notice Fearless’ actions prior to his death. Now that Fearless was eliminated, Open Fire had completely let his guard down. Thus, the faint and weak ray of light managed to come into contact with Open Fire’s body.
In the next moment, Open Fire turned into a white ray of light and disappeared from the arena.
“Eh? What happened?”
Just when Open Fire was thinking of what victory pose he should do, the scenery in front of him suddenly changed. When the trees in front of him suddenly changed into his teammates, he was momentarily stunned.
“You stupid fool! That Priest had self-destructed!” Seeing Open Fire’s face filled with confusion, War Is Peace helplessly explained what happened previously.
Previously, the move which Fearless used was a Priest’s LVL 40 ability, [Repayment]… The ability would reduce the user’s own HP to 1 point and cause the target to have the same HP as the user, ignoring all defences. As it was an extremely despicable move, the skill was known as “self-destruct”.
“F*ck! When did that cheap b*stard cast self-destruct? How come I didn’t notice it?” Open Fire asked, depressed.
Even though the ability seemed overpowered, it had many restrictions to it. Firstly, it would not be effective against targets that had more HP than the user. Secondly, it wasn’t a click-based ability and its trajectory speed was extremely slow, making it easy for the target to dodge the attack.
Therefore, unless one was restricted by a control ability or the Priest had activated the ability extremely close to the target, it was very easy for one to notice the ability.
However, Fearless did neither of those two. Thus, Open Fire was extremely confused as to when he had cast the ability and how it managed to connect with his own body.
War is Peace answered him, “It was at the moment you finished casting your ultimate move… Seems like that brat had willingly let you hit him with your ultimate ability.”
From the restrictions placed on [Repayment], without the use of hard control skills, even if Fearless was a top expert, trying to land the ability on Open Fire was extremely difficult. However, as Priests weren’t capable of dis.h.i.+ng out damages with their other abilities, this was the only ability that he could use to take down a Magician.
Clearly, Fearless had willingly let himself get hit by Open Fire’s abilities. After Open Fire had finished casting his ultimate move and had let his guard down, Fearless placed his life on the line to complete the trap that he had set. From the moment Fearless threw his first ability at Open Fire, Open Fire had already been played into his trap.
“Intentionally?”
After hearing what War Is Peace had said, thinking about the battle just now, the hairs on Open Fire’s hands stood on end.
“This guy…” Clenching his fists, Open Fire couldn’t help but turn to look at the people from Quan Zhen Sect, only to see Fearless looking at himself and flas.h.i.+ng a playful smile at him.
…
Therefore, the first battle had ended with both parties dying together. Before the second round commenced, both Ming Du and Powerful and Free were teleported to the battleground at the same time.
Powerful and Free was an extraordinary expert in his own right. Previously, he was easily defeated by Darknorth Fisher due to the map location and the effect of the lime powder.
Now that the location of the battleground was set to Jungle Land, Powerful and Free was like a bird that had been released back into the sky.
After getting teleported to the battleground, Powerful and Free immediately entered into [Stealth] and hid in one of the dark corners of the map.
Ming Du was not someone to be messed with either. Seeing Powerful and Free disappearing, with a wave of his staff, he flew to the top of a tree and hid in one of the dark corners of the map as well…
War Is Peace had previously instructed them to fight their battles seriously. Seeing that Ming Du had flow up a tree to hide himself, Powerful and Free, who was on the ground, became sullen.
Powerful and Free did not have the ability to teleport or fly. If he wanted to go up the tree, he would have to climb up with his bare hands, and doing so would reveal himself as a target… Therefore, climbing a tree within the range of a Magician was equivalent to asking to be hit.
Powerful and Free had no idea what Ming Du was doing up in the trees either. He started to panic and went in circles around the tree, unsure of what to do next.
“F*ck! Are they going to drag the fight out again?”
Seeing both parties having no intention of fighting each other, the audience started to rage once more…
They could still let it slide if someone attempted to drag the battle out in the first round, but doing the same thing once more in the second round…? Somehow, the second battle of each round would always turn out this way.
As underhanded and cheap Frost Blade and Abundance of Gold were, at the very least, the audience could watch them embarra.s.s themselves in an attempt to provoke the opponent, treating the entire fight as a joke.
However, the moment Ming Du arrived on top of the tree, he closed his eyes and began to meditate, seemingly as if he had the intention to take a 40 minutes afternoon nap, enraging the audience even further.
Even though the audience were scolding and cursing the two players in the battleground, the two players could not hear them. Even if they did, given Ming Du’s personality, he would have treated it as music to his ears.
40 minutes later, the outcome of the second battle was the same as the first, with the battle ending in a tie and both Ming Du and Powerful and Free being sent out of the battleground at the same time.
