Chapter 1266: Eating Your Fill With One Skill?
“Hahaha!”
When everyone heard Smooth As Silk’s news, they burst out into laughter at the same time.
Using your own money to bet on yourself when n.o.body bets on you was as stupid as that one politician voting for himself during the election.
This was especially when facing a strong opponent like the Kyushu Squad. Casually throwing away some money for the fun of it was fine but to think that they actually spent 200,000 gold?! What was wrong with these fellas?
Boundless Ocean, on the other hand, was actually shocked as he furrowed his brows, “We must not underestimate them. These people are stronger than we imagine.”
Sacred Mountain refuted, “Boss, they are the ones underestimating us. By doing so, aren’t they telling everyone that they are confident of winning the compet.i.tion?”
“Indeed…” Boundless Ocean continued, “Do you really think they are blind and arrogant frogs in the well? All of you know that Fearless too and he came to announce war on Termination Manor with an att.i.tude like that too. See what happened in the end?”
“This…”
After hearing what Boundless Ocean said, everyone from Kyushu Squad was stunned.
Moments later, Sacred Mountain asked, “Are you trying to say that they already have a strategy to deal with us?”
“I cannot be sure but last night when I visited them, they were all chatting and laughing away. Their spirits were much better than the two other squads so I do believe they have some sort of strategy in place,” Boundless Ocean replied.
“Oh…” Everyone revealed a stern and solemn look when they heard this.
The players from the Kyushu Squad were never people who liked to ask about their opponents. Because of their incredible strength, it was inevitable that they felt confident about themselves.
Looking at the entire group of players from the Quan Zhen Sect, the only person who could probably frighten these players was w.a.n.g Yu. However, everyone started growing cautious of the other players, especially after Boundless Ocean’s explanation. After all, a good strategy in team battles could make up for the difference in individual strengths.
Because the last round was the finals, the resting time was relatively longer compared to previous rounds to ensure that two parties would be able to bring out their best for the spectators.
After an entire hour of rest, both teams returned to the scene. Following the guidance of the workers, both teams entered their gaming cabins.
The first round was still the solo PK and the map would be chosen by last year’s champion, Kyushu Squad.
Boundless Ocean chose the elevated stage as usual.
The players from the Quan Zhen Sect started becoming very nervous when they finally saw the team opposite them. They were ultimately champions several times and dubbed to be the undefeatable squad.
w.a.n.g Yu, on the other hand, was incredibly excited. In the previous round when w.a.n.g Yu fought Tranquility Yields Transcendence, he finally experienced the true strength of a peak grade professional expert. Now that a bunch of such experts stood opposite him, w.a.n.g Yu was naturally itching to fight and to take them down all by himself.
If the Kyushu Squad’s players knew what w.a.n.g Yu was thinking, they would definitely be infuriated. They had been fighting for such a long time and were feared not just in the country but across the world yet w.a.n.g Yu thought so lowly of them. He was basically not treating them as his equal.
Just when w.a.n.g Yu was all prepared to be the first one up on the stage, Fearless suddenly volunteered himself, “Let me be the first one up!”
“You?” w.a.n.g Yu and everyone else turned around in shock. Ming Du couldn’t help but mock, “Really? You? This is the Kyushu Squad we’re talking about! Are you trying to send yourself to death?”
“Tsk!” Fearless replied disdainfully, “You speak as though you are not going to die when you send yourself up there.”
“This…” Ming Du was embarra.s.sed as he replied, “Then let Old Bull up there.”
Ming Du looked at w.a.n.g Yu while saying that because he knew that there was no such thing as lose if they sent w.a.n.g Yu up.
“Haha!” Fearless smiled faintly, “How many Old Bulls do we have in our squad?”
Ming Du replied dazedly, “One…”
“Exactly!” Fearless replied, “Since we’re all going to die, there isn’t a difference between dying early and dying late, right?”
Everyone, “…”
That was true. When facing an extraordinary squad like Kyushu Squad, even Yang Nuo and Evil Rampage wouldn’t be confident enough to secure a victory. It seemed probable that they would lose four out of the five matches in the first round so why should they send w.a.n.g Yu up first…
As long as w.a.n.g Yu was not up, everyone would still have a trace of hope in their hearts and would definitely work their hardest.
If w.a.n.g Yu went up first, the rest of them would feel dejected the moment they realised they couldn’t defeat their opponent. And even though it was slightly impossible, what if w.a.n.g Yu lost? Then the rest of the compet.i.tion would be…
Fearless was an expert in such psychological warfare so he must have his reasons for doing so.
The Kyushu Squad did not have such a dilemma as they immediately sent Boundless Ocean up first.
His logic was the same as Fearless. Because of the vast difference in strength, they were definitely going to win more… He knew that the one facing w.a.n.g Yu would lose so it didn’t matter who lost to w.a.n.g Yu…
…
As the white light flashed, Fearless and Boundless Ocean were both sent to the stage.
When the two of them met, Fearless revealed a peculiar smile towards Boundless Ocean.
Even though Boundless Ocean could smile too, his heart was pounding very fast.
He had no choice because the fear and shadow that Fearless instilled in the hearts of the Termination Manor’s players were simply too deep to be rooted out. Even though Boundless Ocean was presently the leader of the number one squad in the country, he couldn’t stop his imagination from running wild at the thought of how good Fearless’ mysterious actions were against him.
As the countdown ended, the match began.
A Priest’s advantage was in his endurance ability. Magician with high damage output was extremely effective against a Priest. Since Fearless was not as strong as Boundless Ocean and his job was at a disadvantage, there seemed to be no chance he could win.
Once the match started, Fearless chuckled as he gave himself [Invincibility] before charging towards Boundless Ocean.
“Tsk! This move again!”
The spectators pointed their middle fingers together when they saw this.
Tsk! Invincibility + self-explosion was a trick that could be used effectively against ordinary players once or twice. As long as one paid careful attention to guard against it, it might not even work especially against a top Magician like Boundless Ocean. Does this fella really think he can eat his fill with just one skill?
The stage wasn’t big so Fearless arrived right in front of Boundless Ocean in a blink of an eye. Boundless Ocean took a step back as he pointed his staff to the ground. A whirlpool appeared in front of Fearless.
Fearless came to a halt casually as he swung his left hand forward. A [Holy Flame] flew towards Boundless Ocean.
“!!”
Initially, everyone thought that Fearless only knew one trick so when Fearless did this, they were all shocked.
It was true that Magicians held the advantage over Priests but Priests were still one of the jobs of the Light Faction Grand Cathedral. They were not jobs to be bullied by anyone. The silence effect of the [Holy Flame] was most feared by Magicians.
Even though the [Holy Flame] flew very slowly, it was an unavoidable and directional skill. A Magician who couldn’t execute any skills was basically a target to be tortured.
