Chapter 1294: Big Sponsor
“You guys?”
Everyone was quick-witted and was stunned after hearing what w.a.n.g Yu said, “Are you not taking the money?”
“You guys can split among yourselves. I’m not short on money now.”
w.a.n.g Yu nodded his head, smiling.
w.a.n.g Yu’s true intention was to spread awareness for martial arts, so he really did not care about all this money. Moreover, he was not the broke teenager that he was anymore.
Everyone quieted down.
One must know that w.a.n.g Yu contributed the most in the tournament so all of them did not dare to take a single cent if w.a.n.g Yu did not do so.
Though these guys were shameless most of the time, they still had a line they knew they should not cross when it came to some things.
w.a.n.g Yu wanted to explain his point of view when Evil Rampage interrupted, “He really won’t need this random sum of money. Let’s just split among ourselves.”
“Random sum of money? Really?” All of them turned to w.a.n.g Yu.
Everyone knew that w.a.n.g Yu owned a martial club and was pretty well off. But the amount of money that was concerned was $30,000,000. Does having a martial club earn w.a.n.g Yu that much money?
“Haha!”
w.a.n.g Yu smiled and stayed silent.
The martial sects who managed to remain relevant now were all profound in concrete skills. Even Old Tong from the poorest sect, Eight Trigrams Guild had a value of a hundred million himself. It was no wonder he could train himself to this level.
As the head of the biggest sect in the martial world, money was something that was not scarce at all. Moreover, w.a.n.g Yu was a simple man and did not have many channels of expenditure, so he did not view money as such a huge importance in his life.
Even when w.a.n.g Yu was struggling, he merely viewed money as a necessity and did not overemphasise the importance of money.
Since Evil Rampage had already said that, everyone split the money evenly among themselves.
Other than the cash prize, Team A Murder of Crows also bet 200,000 on themselves winning.
Though the return was not very high, they did not mind as long as they earned money.
…
The next day, w.a.n.g Yu was woken up from the ringing of his phone.
Before the tournament, these guys were not known and no one cared about them. Ever since they won the tournament, they became famous.
In the current society, phone numbers could even be circulated through buying cars or house, and even more so through tournaments… It was pretty simple for these sponsors to get the team member’s contact numbers.
All the calls were about sponsors wanting to sponsor the team and to take them away from their original organisation.
Sponsors were the root of the ability of a team to make it big. It was pretty normal for people to call because money was something that most people go after.
However, trying to steal people away from their original organisation was not a very nice thing to do. Though Quan Zhen Sect had always stood on their own, it was indeed not very ethical to lure teams away from their organisation so soon after the tournament ended.
Everyone did everything they could to steal the members away and the prices offered continued rising… Someone even offered a price that was also offered to a top professional team.
Of course, Quan Zhen Sect knew where they stood and knew who was the one who helped them win.
They knew exactly what would happen to them in the end if they agreed just like that and money would not come so easily. All of them preferred to stay free and easy…
However, it was not unusual to have a bit of vanity in humans. Quan Zhen Sect made it a compet.i.tion amongst themselves to see who got the most number of calls.
First thing in the morning, Vainglory shouted, “I got four calls today asking me to join their team… Someone even offered me 10 million a month.”
“F*ck!”
Ming Du spoke with despise, “There were eight people who called offering similar prices to yours. Do you see me bragging about it?”
“Eight? I have more than 10…”
“I had more than 10 too…”
“I have more than 20!”
The living room was filled with chatters immediately and all of them never felt this proud.
“Did no one call you, Uncle Bull?” Vainglory asked w.a.n.g Yu after realising that he was not a match to the others.
“Yes, but I didn’t count…” w.a.n.g Yu shook his head and continued, “My phone’s battery went flat from the calls since 6 am in the morning. I am charging it now.”
“d.a.m.nnnn…” Everyone lifted their thumbs.
It seemed like this guy was the real MVP. How many of your phones could die from calls?
“Why? You guys want to fight in the professional tournament from now on?”
Evil Rampage asked curiously after seeing everybody so excited about the calls.
“Ps.h.!.+ I am a Civil Servant!” Ming Du spoke with disdain.
Boson and Spring Halo added, “We receive an allowance from the government too…”
“I am a political party member and also an academic!” Fearless spoke even louder.
Everybody looked at w.a.n.g Yu and then at Fearless and said, “We follow the politician!”
“Aye…” Evil Rampage sighed and continued, “I got you guys a huge sponsor, but since you guys refuse, I shall reject them…”
Ming Du rushed to Evil Rampage immediately and said, “You are our boss, Brother Evil! I will do anything you ask me to.”
“I…”
Evil Rampage was speechless.
w.a.n.g Yu kicked Ming Du to the side and scolded, “I am the leader, even if there is a sponsor, it will never be your turn to speak! Also, where did you find the sponsor from?”
“Hehe!”
Evil Rampage smiled and pointed to himself.
“What? Your studio wants a bit of our fame too?” w.a.n.g Yu questioned.
Evil Rampage smiled and replied, “Of course! Everything depends on the fame of celebrities. Your fame will at least last a few more months in the game. With you guys with me, my studio’s profits will definitely multiply. Of course, you guys can be a.s.sured about the welfare, I will be fair.”
“We don’t really care about the welfare!” Fearless muttered and continued saying, “So what do we do everyday? We play the game to feel happy but not to play our lives out…”
These guys were considered to be petty-bourgeois when it came to wealth. Though they did not have huge wealth, they were not poor either. The game was just a channel to release their stress. If they had to clock in from 9 to 5 like normal working hours, they would rather do their job properly outside of the game.
In the game, happiness was of the utmost importance.
“Hehe!” Evil Rampage smiled, and said, “Very simple, just do what you normally do in the game. If someone bullies me, you guys just have to beat them up; if I have someone that I cannot defeat, you guys help me beat them up too. How’s that?”
