Chapter 1308: The BOSS On The Lookout Post
There was no harm in being overly prepared. Given Fearless’ character, he naturally had a well thought out plan.
Drinking water was a necessity for the pirates to survive. In the face of an imminent battle, even though the poison may not be able to poison the pirates to death, it would still greatly weaken their strength.
The lookout post was even more crucial to this plan.
From their previous probing, these pirates were elite monsters that followed the system’s code. The AI of these individual pirates were very limited and thus, their movements are based on the aggro triggered on them. Thus, the alarm system on the lookout post was the most important signal to them.
As long as the alarm system was destroyed, it would provide enough time for everyone to make their necessary preparations.
Spring Halo’s capabilities could be ranked amongst the top when compared to professional experts in the game, thus Fearless wasn’t too worried over him successfully completing his task. Furthermore, there weren’t any Pirates situated in Harbor City Square usually. Even if there were a few mobs lingering around, Spring Halo was merely poisoning the water filter system, and still would not face any difficulty making his way out of the place.
It was different for Darknorth Fisher. Since the entire city’s defences relied on the alarm system, there would definitely be Pirates guarding the lookout post. Additionally, the AI of these Pirates would not be low either.
After all, given the AI of a normal creep, under normal circ.u.mstances, as long as a player didn’t intrude into their aggro range, they would be oblivious to the presence of the player. To be able to trigger the alarm system upon the detection of any players, the AI of the monsters situated on the lookout post would definitely be high, and might even be a BOSS.
In actual fact, Darknorth Fisher’s abilities weren’t weak either. He had the capability to finish off a BOSS on his own as well. However, Darknorth Fisher’s mission was to prevent the alarm from ringing. The moment the Pirates discovered that something was wrong, the alarm would go off.
Controlling the enemy’s movements was many times more difficult than killing the enemy.
As strong as Darknorth Fisher was, it was still impossible for him to be able to forcefully restrain the BOSS on his own. Wanting to kill the enemy was already an extremely difficult task for him, much less preventing the BOSS from triggering the alarm.
Therefore, Fearless had decided to ask w.a.n.g Yu to tag along with him. Even if w.a.n.g Yu was unable to restrain the BOSS, he would at the very least be able to hold him off, buying enough time for Darknorth Fisher.
As to why Fearless did not ask w.a.n.g Yu to go and steal the alarm bell instead, the reason was simple. Sneaking in and stealing was the expertise of an a.s.sa.s.sin. As overpowered as w.a.n.g Yu was, he was still a Pugilist, and couldn’t simply bend the rules of the game. This was the same with writing a novel… Even though the author loved to include fillers to hit the word count, this novel still has to abide by certain rules.
…
As expected, Spring Halo successfully sneaked into the city and deposited all of the weakening medicine in his inventory into the water filter machine.
Spring Halo’s weakening medicine was considered a rare poison, and could increase the duration of the weakened state based on the portion of the medicine used. With a guarantee of 10000 gold in his pockets, Spring Halo naturally wouldn’t be too stingy in the portion of medicine that he used. Thus, he threw in 100 portions of the medicine at one go. The attributes of the Pirates would be reduced to 70% for an approximate duration of 100 minutes.
A portion of the medication cost around 50 gold. Spring Halo could be considered to have put in the necessary capital for this quest.
At the same time, w.a.n.g Yu and Darknorth Fisher had flown to the lookout post.
The both of them lay on top of the roof of the lookout post and peeped at the situation within the post.
The s.p.a.ce within the lookout post only spanned ten over metres, and in the middle of the lookout post was a large bell, with a skinny youth standing beside it.
The youth was wearing a bucket cap on his head and underneath it was a head full of curly hair. He wore a pair of sungla.s.ses and overlooked the entire city, appearing as if he was an airplane crew. What was suspicious was that he had an abnormally long nose…
Additionally, this brat did not possess a gun-type weapon like the other Pirate Lookouts; instead, he had a slingshot…
No wonder he was the BOSS of the lookout post, he was clearly different from those other trash.
w.a.n.g Yu cast a probing skill, and shortly after, the attributes of the BOSS was reflected in the pair’s eyes.
The Liar. Wu Su (LV 60) (Gold) (Ancient)
HP: 5000000
MP: 20000
Skills: [Heavy Smash], [Smoke Shot], [Galaxy Disorder]
Talent: Bragging
“F*ck!!!”
Upon seeing the BOSS’ information along with his appearance, Darknorth Fisher’s jaw dropped to the floor. He exclaimed in shock, “D*mn it, with such blatant copyright, isn’t the Soaring Dragon Gaming Studios afraid of getting sued?!”
w.a.n.g Yu smiled and said, “Did you honestly think that the Soaring Dragon Gaming Studios was so upright…”
Even though w.a.n.g Yu had only recently been exposed to online gaming, after mingling around with Fearless and the rest for a period of time, he had heard quite a few gossip news related to the Soaring Dragon Gaming Studios.
“Tsk.” Darknorth Fisher sighed and said, “Even if the Soaring Dragon Gaming Studios doesn’t get sued, our dear author may get it.”
w.a.n.g Yu raised his hand and said, “That has nothing to do with our quest, enough nonsense.”
“A BOSS’s talent that’s bragging… Wouldn’t he be your nemesis?” Darknorth Fisher asked again.
“I’m not even a mother cow!” w.a.n.g Yu’s answer made Darknorth Fisher speechless.
…
As an a.s.sa.s.sin, Darknorth Fisher was extremely adept at using [Stealth]. Coupled with [Earth Elemental Technique], it wasn’t difficult for him to enter into the lookout post undetected.
After refocusing on the task at hand, Darknorth Fisher activated [Stealth] before carefully jumping down from the rooftop.
“Pata!”
A light thud could be heard as Darknorth Fisher landed on the ground beneath him. However, Wu Su’s gaze was attracted over as well.
At the end of the day, Wu Su was a Gold-grade Ancient cla.s.s BOSS. Thus, his sensory organs were enhanced and could take in every detail of everything that happened within the lookout post, much less the commotion created by Darknorth Fisher’s landing.
This Wu Su was extremely decisive. Upon hearing someone landing in that direction, he immediately loaded a marble bullet into his slingshot and fired towards the direction Darknorth Fisher had landed.
This was an attack from an Ancient cla.s.s BOSS, and thus, Darknorth Fisher, who was a cloth armoured a.s.sa.s.sin, did not even bother trying to forcefully receive it head-on. Without a second thought, he immediately activated [Earth Elemental Technique], causing his entire body to drill into the ground beneath him.
However, the moment Darknorth Fisher drilled into the ground, he instantly regretted his decision.
The position which Darknorth Fisher landed at was right in front of the huge bell, and directly behind him was the bell.
If Darknorth Fisher avoided the shot, the attack from the BOSS would strike the bell. Once the alarm sounded, all of the Pirates will immediately swarm towards the gate, ruining all of Fearless’ plans.
The moment his plans were ruined, the quest would probably fail.
Actually, Darknorth Fisher knew that given w.a.n.g Yu’s good temper, it would be fine if the quest failed and he lost the city owners.h.i.+p. As long as everyone was together, it didn’t matter where they went. However, as a professional player himself, Darknorth Fisher knew the importance of the City Lord more than anyone else.
If the quest today was to fail because of him, Darknorth Fisher would be unable to lift his head in front of w.a.n.g Yu anymore in the future.
A look of despair surfaced on Darknorth Fisher’s face as he watched the marble bullet fly right over his head.
Just when Darknorth Fisher thought that the bell would be strike and all of the pirates would be alerted, w.a.n.g Yu’s figure suddenly descended from the sky and he viciously struck his huge hand downwards.
“Pah!”
A crystal clear sound was heard as the marble bullet was deflected away by w.a.n.g Yu’s slap and struck through the floor instead, leaving a hole in the floorboard.
w.a.n.g Yu’s figure stood above Darknorth Fisher’s location with a calm and indifferent expression on his face, seemingly as immovable as a mountain. Darknorth Fisher’s image of w.a.n.g Yu in his heart was raised a few levels higher at this moment, both emotionally and visually.
“Eh?”
When the BOSS saw w.a.n.g Yu appearing out of nowhere, he was shocked for a moment, before coldly saying, “Who are you? How dare you intrude into our Harbor City?”
