Chapter 901: We Meet Again, Wharton

Since there was a limit on the quota of players, naturally, the faster one was, the better. Guilds like Void Blade that didn’t lack money would definitely use scrolls in order to fly there. However, teleportation scrolls were considered rare tools and had all been h.o.a.rded by the large guilds in Twilight City, such as Sanguine Alliance and Void Blade. Therefore, the other players could only walk over.
After leaving the city lord’s mansion, the rich players rode on their summoned mounts and headed straight for the city gates, leaving the others looking over with jealousy and envy.
Even though the game had already introduced the mounting system, mounts are still considered rare at this stage in the game. The cheapest yellow horse that could increase the user’s speed by 10% cost over a thousand gold coin per horse. Needless to say, the higher tier ones would cost even more. Hence, only top tier experts could afford this expenditure for now.
Even among Quan Zhen Sect, only w.a.n.g Yu alone had a mount.
Not to mention the similarities between in-game and in reality, the various modes of transportation would differentiate the different statuses of the players.
The most renowned players were able to fly to their destination on airplanes, whereas the tyrants could afford cars to bring them to their destinations… The majority of the remaining players, on the other hand, could only rely on their two legs.
Upon seeing everyone making their way over, Sanguine Warflag calmly took out a teleportation scroll and was about to activate it. However, he was obstructed by Fearless, “Does the scroll not cost any money? I will bring you the entrance of the dungeon for just 500 gold.”
A teleportation scroll alone cost a thousand gold coins. Using such an expensive scroll just to travel such a short distance clearly showed how much Sanguine Warflag was willing to sacrifice.
“F*ck…”
Sanguine Warflag remembered that Dusk Canyon was situated right outside the headquarters of Quan Zhen Sect. For Quan Zhen Sect members, teleporting back to their Guild’s headquarters would allow them to reach their destination.
Just when the three of them were making their way over to the teleportation formation, they saw One Page Book and two other ladies running over.
The two ladies were players that were less well off, unlike One Page Book. One Page Book herself was considered an expert and had a hidden branch job cla.s.s himself. Apart from the quests which she had completed with a few other lone players previously, the returns that she gained from the dungeons weren’t little. She had gotten herself an expensive white horse as a mount long ago.
However, the two ladies, Seeing Snow In the Summer and Seeing Flowers In The Winter had it worse. As guild leaders themselves, they were actually running behind One Page Book. Any oblivious onlooker would think that they were his followers.
Seeing w.a.n.g Yu and the rest not using any scrolls and not possessing any mounts, One Page Book asked, confused, “Do you guys plan on running?”
“Ah, want to join us?” Fearless invited One Page Book.
Without waiting for One Page Book’s reply, Seeing Snow In The Summer cautiously said, “What are you trying to do? Are you thinking of kidnapping us?”
“Your father!” Fearless choked, speechless.
Seems like the impression that Quan Zhen Sect was a guild that robbed others had already been engraved in the minds of other players. It would be difficult to change this perception in a short period of time.
Seeing their suspicion of Fearless, w.a.n.g Yu stepped in to explain, “We are here to teleport over. We can bring you along.”
With tears in their eyes, the two ladies said, “Great G.o.d Iron Bull is too kind…”
“F*ck, This is unreasonable…” Seeing w.a.n.g Yu, a killing demon that strikes fear into the hearts of others, getting praised as a kind soul, Sanguine Warflag couldn’t help but cry alongside Fearless.
“What happened to them?” The two ladies asked, curious as to why two grown men were breaking down.
w.a.n.g Yu wiped off the sweat on his face and said, “They must be touched by the fact that you ladies are able to travel with us.”
With the help of w.a.n.g Yu, the two ladies were able to arrive at Dusk Canyon in the shortest time possible, despite them not having a mount at all.
The fact that the Dusk Lair Dungeon was situated right outside of the headquarters of Quan Zhen Sect further reinforced the impression that the two ladies had of Quan Zhen Sect being a thug organisation. A guild was actually neighbours with a band of thieves, who wouldn’t think otherwise?
…
The Dusk Lair Dungeon was a three-man dungeon. It was specifically restricted as such by the system in order to prevent players from cheating.
After all, the players were all frustrated by the restrictions placed by the NPCs. However, despite the various restrictions that the system could set in place, the players always had a way to take advantage of it. Previously, only the Quest itself had a three-man restriction to it. The players could easily rally a few hundred other players to help lower the BOSS HP to the critical level before dealing the final blow themselves. The outcome would still be the same.
Now that the Dungeon only allowed three players to enter at the same time, such a scenario was prevented.
Thanks to the teleportation, both groups of people were able to get a huge lead compared to the rest of the players. Shortly after, they stepped into the Dungeon in front of them.
Dusk Lair’s level requirement was not high and it was a level 35 dungeon. The system was not so despicable to the point where they would force a three man party to challenge a high levelled dungeon.
The monsters inside the dungeon were mostly elite monsters such as the Dusk Vagrants, and it was of no difficulty to those players of level 45 and above. In the eyes of skilled players such as w.a.n.g Yu, it was as simple as cutting vegetables.
w.a.n.g Yu and the rest were waving their equipment, fighting and running forward at the same time. Like a bulldozer, they were killing everything in their way. Given their capabilities, they easily managed to fight their way through and arrive at the BOSS, Legendary Dusk Bandit- Wharton.
Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton was still the same Wharton. He still had a strong and muscular stature, and held onto a golden shafted blade, majestically sitting on his throne. The only difference was that the heavy armour he was wearing had been enchanted with numerous magic talismans. Furthermore, there was a circular st.i.tching scar around his neck, indicating that his head had been sewn back onto his body.
The set up made w.a.n.g Yu impressed. He never would have thought that the medical capabilities of the game would be so profound to the point whereby a detached head could still be sewn back onto its body.
Enchanted Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton (LV45) (Obsidian Grade BOSS) (Elite)
HP: 3000000
MP: 20000
Abilities: Mountain Shattering Blow, Mountain and Earth Shattering Strike, Tornado Slash, Blood Sucking Berserk
Talent: Magical transformation
Background introduction: After the death of Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton, the Dusk Bandit Gang were unable to recover from the setback. To retrieve their former glory, the bandits paid a large sum of money to invite a devotee of the evil cult to revive Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton. Upon being revived, he received powers beyond imagination.
Upon seeing the arrival of w.a.n.g Yu and the other two, the Legendary Dusk Bandit- Wharton did not even spare them a second look. Instead, he calmly sat on his throne with the blade in one hand, imposing a feeling of oppression and fear into the hearts of others.
“Hi, we meet again.” w.a.n.g Yu sent his greetings, despite knowing that Legendary Dusk Bandit-Wharton did not recognise him.
Unexpectedly, Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton raised his head upon hearing w.a.n.g Yu’s voice and was slightly shocked at seeing w.a.n.g Yu. He exclaimed, “It’s you again?”
“Eh?” Seeing that Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton could still recognise him, w.a.n.g Yu and Fearless were both stunned speechless.
This guy was merely an elite BOSS. How could he have such a high level of AI? Could it be that he had evolved?
The look that Sanguine Warflag gave to w.a.n.g Yu was that of utter shock.
If there was anything that was considered overpowered, this was it! Even the BOSS of a dungeon could be familiar with the players themselves.
“Do you still recognise me?” w.a.n.g Yu curiously questioned.
“Of course I recognise you!” Legendary Dusk Bandit- Wharton stood up with his blade in one hand and replied emotionlessly, “I am someone who has experienced death once, so other issues are no longer important to me. The only reason why I revived is because of you.”
In the game’s setting, the Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton that was killed at Dusk Canyon was merely a clone. The Wharton during the defense of the guild headquarters was the real one. Therefore, although Legendary Dusk Bandit – Wharton was killed by w.a.n.g Yu twice, according to the game’s logic, he was only killed once.
