Chapter 408: Undead—Liches Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Liches!
Each of them had either been an outstanding Mage or Priest in their previous lives. They possessed tremendous psychic powers and shocking magical mastery, but these humans had evil in their hearts. They used forbidden black magic to become Hades" subordinates and reincarnated as the Undead to obtain immortality!
They really could not die…
… as long as the souls of these Liches were not exterminated in the Eye of Hades. Even if their physical bodies were destroyed, with quick help from Hades, they could borrow the physical bodies of other living beings, and be revived. It was due to this tremendously powerful and immortal Lich army that countless Champions had been quickly destroyed in the Buried City…
The Lich army became Hades" important, ground-breaking force. It was one of the Underworld"s most powerful armies!
Qin Ruo and the rest quickly reached the Secret Dungeon that Darius had mentioned…
That was actually the way to one of the giant palace halls in the Buried City!
Within the giant palace, hundreds of Spectral Archers waited with their bows; behind them were countless of Skeleton Warriors, Arcane Zombies, and h.e.l.lhounds. Neatly arranged, they waited firmly along the walkway towards the entrance!
Pa.s.sing by the countless Undead creatures across them, the eyes of the three men fell upon a beautiful Mage who was floating in the air while emitting terrifying and imposing energy…
Although they had transformed into Undead beings, Liches had a very pleasing appearance and were something that held a sinister yet elegant air. It was all thanks to their extensive knowledge and research. During their search before they became the Undead, they had found a suitable vessel.
Since they were previously humans, their pride did not allow them to turn into ugly, rotting, skeletal corpses; hence, before they converted, they took into consideration their appearance and chose the famously beautiful and elegant Elf race to become their vessels!
With the Elves" beauty and elegance, paired with their immortality, the Undead could perfectly transcend the elves" personal charisma to the fullest…
Graceful with a charmingly evil appearance and abominable strength—that was the Liches!
The three Liches in front of them wore magnificent magic robes and silently floated above the heads of the Undead Horde. As intelligent human beings, Liches were not mixed with low-level Undead creatures.
Their hands were flatly raised and their palms held strange beads, which radiated peculiar and unique lights. Mysteriously shrouded, three pairs of lights glowed beneath the Liches" hoods, as though a.n.a.lyzing Qin Ruo"s group, in which all three had their Angelic Wings spread out…
"They look pretty good."
Black G.o.d swept his gaze over the Undead Horde from afar. His sights were set on the three Liches that were wearing different colors of magic robes. Their Angelic Wings sometimes flapped and sometimes did not.
Qin Ruo paid attention to Majestic Hero"s explanation about the Liches. He heard that Liches were actually immortal. His brows could not help but twitch, and he suddenly had a lightbulb moment in his mind. "Immortal? That means, as long as Hades lives and the Eye of Hades isn"t retrieved, the Liches" numbers in the Buried City will never reduce?"
Majestic Hero shook his head. "This information was laid out by Darius… As for the point you just made, I can say that I"m not too sure… But what I can confirm is, Darius will never count on us to recover the Buried City since it obviously something that has zero chance of success!"
Qin Ruo was speechless. He was clear about that from the beginning. Buried City"s Eight High Lords were all Divine Champions. Yet, Champions like them had all been swiftly killed by sp.a.w.ns of Hades and devastated by the Underworld"s forces. What could a bunch of Tier 5 players possibly do? It was more ridiculous than a group of Tier 3 players taking on a Tier 5 Boss beyond their abilities. However…
If the Liches were really as Majestic Hero had described—immortal, the Buried City"s road could possibly be longer. The Buried City"s colossal size may probably beyond what he had expected it to be!
Black G.o.d quickly discovered the Secret Dungeon—behind the Lich was a wall with two pieces of Illuminating Crystals, which were a bit of a mismatch with the hall"s interior.
According to Darius" description, so long as they could find a pair of eyes within the great hall, which were guarded by the Liches, and inject some psychic powers into the bottom of the wall, the dungeon would be unlocked. It was set up that way to prevent foreign races from entering the dungeon.
At that moment, the three were faced with a few difficult problems!
Firstly, all three of them had already been discovered. On top of being watched, they managed to anger the Undead Horde, whose swords were being drawn.
There were Tier 5s among the Undead and Tier 6 monsters too. Although they were not enough to bother the three players, they could not be underestimated. Who knew if there was something like the Darkspirit Archer amongst them?
Secondly, opening the Secret Dungeon required psychic powers to be injected for more than two seconds; entering the Secret Dungeon would take up three seconds and above to reach activation, and only then would they be able to retrieve the Golden Key… Within that timeframe, they had to avoid any sort of interference. They also could not allow the Liches to enter the dungeon—if they were chased into the one-way dungeon by a Boss, they could only imagine what would happen to the player who obtained the Golden Key.
Therefore, someone naturally needed to become a distraction for the Liches and delay them…
One had to split from the group to obtain the Golden Key, while the other two faced the Liches. As for the difficulty of the task… it was left to their imaginations.
Besides…
The Liches were Tier 6 Megabosses! Their intelligence was comparable to that of humans, and they possessed self-actualization. Once the dungeon was opened, it was hard to predict if the Liches would leave their battlefield. For a party of three, they were all in the same dangerous position regardless of who was in charge of buying time or who was in charge of obtaining the key!
However, there was no better plan. To eradicate three Tier 6 Megabosses? The task was currently quite impossible to complete!
The three players discussed for a while. Majestic Hero suggested that he and Qin Ruo distract the Liches while Black G.o.d unlocked the dungeon to obtain the Golden Key.
"Is there a problem?"
Majestic Hero and Black G.o.d looked at Qin Ruo. Among the three, he was the weakest in terms of ability. He was the one who would face the most pressure against a Tier 6 Megaboss.
Qin Ruo took a deep breath.
Frankly speaking, the mission"s environment was out of his expectations…
Moreover, he initially just entered with the intention to understand the entire process of the mission and seek out a Tier 5 Megaboss for a workout. But now… the difficulty had somehow s...o...b..lled!
To distract the Liches with Majestic Hero, then face one and a half Tier 6 Megabosses per person was not just problematic, the whole mission was just extremely difficult.
Majestic Hero sort of realized that the task was quite brutal for Qin Ruo, and he started to explain, "My Pet is Little Angel, a Radiant-Type Boss. It has special damage effects against the Undead and uses Resurrection Magic. As long as we can lure the Liches over, I can take on two of them. When the time comes, you just need to delay the other one for more than six seconds… How "bout that?"
"Six seconds…"
Qin Ruo quickly calculated silently.
From a Multiple Compressed Frost Bullet to Twelve Frostramparts Formation, then to Poochie"s Shadow Break, Shadow Razors, and Shadow Clone…
After fifteen seconds of calculating quietly, he nodded seriously. "If it"s just one, there won"t be a big problem."
"Good!" Majestic Hero clapped his hands and said, "So it"s settled then! Let"s clear the monsters first!"
The entire time, Qin Ruo was unclear of the frightening abilities that the Tier 5 Supreme Champions had. He also did not know how big of a gap there was between his abilities and theirs.
As the Liches opposite them gave their orders and the huge ma.s.s of Undead came scrambling over, Qin Ruo finally witnessed Majestic Hero and Black G.o.d in action…
While they returned to the corridor near the palace entrance, Majestic Hero"s Pigasus, Big Hero snorted and released two rays of light towards Qin Ruo and Black G.o.d for defense.
When he received a game notification, Qin Ruo was slightly shocked. "What a powerful Support-Type Pet!"
His Physical Resistance and Magical Resistance both increased by 20 respectively…
Unwilling to slow down, he fixed his position, and Million Arrow Sleet rained down on the approaching Undead, quickly erupting in a burst of cold air. It weakened a great number of the Undead forces as they charged over.
At the same time, Black G.o.d"s Tier 5 AoE Magic Attack, Venom Fog was cast into the Arrow Sleet"s attacking field. It inflicted a successful rate of Confusion, Devouring, and Frenzy anti-magic status effects…
That was followed by Big Hero"s Radiant AoE Magic Attack!
A trace of sacred powers created a beam of several diameters, shrouding the entire battlefield about thirty meters in front of the Pigasus. The Undead that were hit by the beam were all deformed, receiving fatally-damaging effects.
The success rate of Water-Type and Dark-Type Magic Effects were not high on the Undead. A few h.e.l.lhounds and high-level Skeleton Warriors took less than 3,000 damage. A few Skeleton Archers even stood within the Arrow Sleet"s attacking field while they advanced towards Qin Ruo and Black G.o.d…
Ki ki!!
Several purple lightning rays arched into the Arrow Sleet"s range, accurately hitting the few Skeleton Archers that had locked on to Qin Ruo and Black G.o.d…
Majestic Hero used the most basic of Elementalism. In fact, it was just an ordinary magic attack. Yet, whatever he displayed from his hands was precise and timely. The frightening speed of his attack and his leisurely as well as relaxed mental state made Qin Ruo dumbfounded!
Although Qin Ruo was certain that he could be precise as well, that amount of confidence, which stemmed from great hurdles in battles, made him feel a little inferior…
While whipping the Skeleton Archers, monstrously-howling h.e.l.lhounds were beneath Black G.o.d. They rushed out of the Million Arrow Sleet zone to retreat chaotically. This was not an openly-known condition—if they could not approach, their long-ranged magic attacks would not cause a single damage to the three.
Qin Ruo lamented…
Why were Majestic Hero and Black G.o.d not shocked by Qin Ruo"s behavior?
While he maintained consecutive AoE a.s.sault Magic, he still had the leisure of condensing the Water Element and Frostrampart outside his barrier; the most depressing thing was, the punk had sent out another round of Frostburst at every alternate second into the Million Arrow Sleet"s zone, increasing his usage of MP. But, as Majestic Hero and Black G.o.d started to consume a few bottles of MP Potion, they somehow realized that Qin Ruo never had to consume a single bottle!!
After they both used Elemental Perception to scan the entire area, they finally realized Qin Ruo"s secret…
With every Frostburst came a subtle blue light that rose up from the Undead bodies in the Frostburst"s area.
After noticing Majestic Hero and Black G.o.d"s surprised expressions, Qin Ruo was slightly and silently delighted.
