Chapter 2889 Last Strike
SHARRRR SHARRRR SHARRRR
I opened my eyes a moment before the strongest attack of the old snake was about to strike my s.h.i.+elds; the nine snakes of the old snake had merged together, forming a nine-headed hydra with a shuddering aura.
It was coming at me with burning wrath in its eye, the same emotions in the eyes of the old snake; it had been attacking my s.h.i.+eld for nearly ten minutes, and till then, it was unable to make them more than a ripple.
It had tried other moves, too, strong moves in combinations of nine snakes, but they were futile against my s.h.i.+elds.
"Burn it to ashes, my hydra!" shouted the old snake in fury as the hydra reached me.
The hydra, as if listening to its command, opened all nine of its mouths simultaneously, and nine types of dangerous colorful cursed gathered in its before they shot toward me, combining into a pure white curse, which felt far more dangerous than any of nine curses.
BOOOOOM!
A loud boom rang out as the pure while curse clashed against my s.h.i.+elds, covering it whole in a second as I tried to wither the s.h.i.+elds made of strings.
If it had been defenses of any other Grand Lord, they would have begun withering under this power, but my immunity made it futile before the s.h.i.+elds began to absorb this powerful curse. Crus.h.i.+ng it, processing it, and turning it into pure energy, which in turn help them defend again more curse and process it fast.
It took more than three minutes before everything became clear, and I became visible to the old snake and others; and when it did, there was a shock in its eyes.
"It seemed like you have left me with no choice," said the old snake with a hint of unwillingness, which quickly transformed into a resolve which did not give me a good feeling.
"Sacrifice."
Shouted the old snake, and the horns on the nine snake heads melted before the heads started melting, and soon the whole snake melted and fell on the spear of s.h.i.+elds.
The moment it did, my eyes went wide in shock, and a smile appeared on the old snake"s face as if it had finally caught me. Everything before this attack was acting; it had done that so that I would let my guard down as I became overconfident in my defense.
As this attack is easily dodgeable and only works when the enemy stays in the same spot, which is why it has never been used this attack on anyone in centuries because no one defends against old snakes" curses head on.
SIZZZLE SIZZZLW SIZZLE
The curse was like steaming hot oil; the moment it fell, it had made a sizzling sound as it went to cover me, and soon, I was caged in a spear made of the oily hot curse.
While it may be hot enough to burn the Grand Lord to ashes, it is a curse that holds the maximum power. It is trying to seep inside through my s.h.i.+eld, affecting me.
There is one more thing that surprised me; this curse possesses the most similarities with the curse of my mother had been afflicted.
It is no coincidence that the b.a.s.t.a.r.d had used this attack; this one might be one of the strongest attacks of old snake, but it has several of this caliber; it used them according to people like any intelligent person would do.
I ignored the head and focused on the case; while heat may be dangerous enough to affect the s.p.a.ce, it poses no danger to me; it curses that is hidden inside, which is dangerous.
If my strength had not been increased by the strengthening energies, my s.h.i.+elds would now would have been under immense strain; there would have been some cracks. That would have been very dangerous for me, given I am dealing with the curse and not any ordinary attack.
I looked at the curse and thought for a while before choosing the way to deal with it.
A second later, the back of the s.h.i.+elds lit up, and small gla.s.sy orbs began to form behind them; it was one of the new things I had added to the s.h.i.+eld, I had added the same thing in my armor, and it had been very useful earlier.
A minute and a half pa.s.sed, and all the curses disappeared, and with my s.h.i.+elds and now, the old snake looking at me with hate, it had never looked at anyone.
"Thanks for the curses; it would help me a lot in my research," I said, motioning to the circular garland of tiny orbs which contained all the curses it had sent at me too.
"Thanks for this, too; the earlier sample was too small," I said as I revealed another orb, but this one did not have the white curse that is present in the twenty-four orbs; it had red granules, the most dangerous curse of an old snake; it had sneaked that in with the last attack.
It was very sneaky, far more than the first attack, that only a single sensory formation was able to catch it among the hundreds present in my s.h.i.+elds.
I still shuddered, thinking about what would have happened if this curse had entered inside me.
Sigh!
The old snake sighed after looking at me in silence for nearly a minute before closing its eyes and sighed; when it opened its eyes again, all the hate and fury had vanished from its eyes, and they became tranquil.
Seeing that, I became cautious, ready to go all out in an instant.
"You are truly my nemesis; even my strongest curse did not seem to affect you," It said slowly, and the next second, that tranquil face morphed into incarnation cruelty and fury as it came back with ten times more force, that involuntary shuddered and nearly a step back in fear.
I did not dare to underestimate it; it is an old monster with hundreds of tricks under its sleeve, a moment of carelessness, and I will be done.
"So, what!" It shouted and cast its glance toward humans from me, "I may not be able to do anything against you, but these humans are all under my fist; I could do whatever I want with them,"
"I wanted to wait till the curse spread into their bodies fully and consumed them, but since you forced me, I will let the curse consume them now," It added, and its eyes glowed.
"You could not; the curse could not be remotely controlled," I said back, with a voice full of confidence. Unlike most of its attacks, which came from its body, the scarlet devil curse came from its staff. Even an old snake could not keep this curse inside; it possesses it too many dangers.
"You are right but also wrong," it said, and blood red pearl appeared in its hand; "I cannot control the curse through my mind, but I could with this; the moment I destroy this pearl, the humans will be consumed by it, while experiencing the greatest pain of their life," it added and took the pearl in its fist to crush it.
